3.2 Bottle from Lithuanica, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark amber with is a thin broken off white head. The aroma is sweet malt toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet with an alcoholic sweet malt resin toffee apple palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
2.3 Bottle. 0,5L Price: ~0,66 €. Labai "sunkus". Galėtu pilstyti į mažesnius butelius.
0.5 Gailiuos, kad pavadinau "Memelio Vaisin?" blogiausiu alumi, kok? tik g?riau, nes iki tol nebuvau g?r?s ?ito.
3.3 Fawn head, clear ruby body, dots and crochets as lacing. A barrel of dried fruits to the nose, a very inviting bouquet. Taste; powerful caramel malts, confectionery with lots of dark and dried fruits, some fermented fruits, small notes of syrupy bread. Ok body and normal on palate. Nice fruity finish. Overall a nice baltic porter, inclining to sweet. I was a hobo in Marijampole Lithuania for one night to get this one, for sharing with a porter-loving specialist north of the arctic circle. 3.0 500ml bottle. Pours a firm fawn-coloured head resting over a ruby-brown coloured body. Crocheted lacing. Sweet taste of dark and dried fruits. The taste character is also very sweet containing prunes, raisin, caramel, and apricot. Just a little bite of roastiness to the finish. Fine bodied. Nice, but far too sweet in the long run (kindly shared by djoeye, Tromsø 11.11.2014).
2.0 From a half liter bottle this stuff has a rather alarming volatile malt aroma. Big puffy tan head. First taste is not over the top but fer sure you know there’s alky in there. Yes, boozy is the word for the feel of this drink. Does not hide the alky well. Not sure what to think of this. I like porter but this must be a kind of Baltic porter if you ask me. Wew, almost has a gag reflex here baby. Some co2 keeps this from being flat. Not impressed.
2.8 Bottle from Lithuanian shop. Pours a medium brown cola colour with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, roast malts, hints of spice and metal. Taste of caramel, roasted malts. Slight metallic aftertaste. Boozy.
3.0 Medium brown, clear, thin tan head. Aroma of pilsner malt with light notes toasted malt and chocolate. Flavor: pilsner malt base, some toasty Munich notes, a little toffee, cola, light chocolate. Light overall and light on the dark malts for a porter, and this bottle may be old because its showing oxidation.
3.1 500ml bottle. Clear dark brown color. Small size, chunky brown head, stays. Alcohol, chocolate, caramel, sweet notes in aroma. Alcohol, candy, chocolate, malty taste. Alcohol and chocolate in aftertaste.
2.6 Last bottle of night. How is this porter pours red pretty much. Light nose of caramel. Tastes of almost all caramel, flat cola, and r Licorice. Thin palate.
3.0 Bottle at home from early backlog notes 07/08. At the time one of my first Baltic Porters. Pours brown in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have light roast, grainy, sweet malts, milk chocolate, some dark fruit with a hint of earthy bitterness. Thin and watery. I’ve never had this again.
3.3 Mid brown pour slightly hazy with decent tan head. Aroma is roasty and some toffee. Taste is quite sweet with the roasted malts also present Medium carbonation. It’s ok.
2.1 Poured from bottle. Watery and light nutty aroma. Weird skunky and boring taste. Not good at all
3.4 Bottle from Catonsville Lithuanian Festival. Pours hazy reddish copper with a fizzy off white head. Tastes very malty and nutty, with hints if sweet caramel and roasted grains. Very easy to drink. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet roasted malt, caramel, toffee, and light raisin.
3.3 Bottle from a Lithuanian festival. Pours murky tawny brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is toasted and bready malts, caramel and toffee notes, light floral notes, and dark fruit sweetness. Flavor is dry malts forward, some toast, light caramel/burnt sugar, and some raisin and prune esters; dry finish with some bitterness buried below the surface. Medium body and carbonation.
3.3 Bottle sample at a tasting at our place. Thanks TomL. Clear brown. Syrupy aroma, grade B maple syrup, date honey. Sweetish maltiness and dried dark fruit in the mouth. Medium body, smooth texture. Nice. A little too sweet but works just fine.
3.4 Interesting beer. I’d never have called it a porter, least a baltic one, had I only seen it on the glass. Red/copper with a thin, light brown bubbly head. Aroma of malts and karamels, plenty of dark honey and a nice touch of cherries. Flavour is very sweet, I wouldn’t say cloying, to disagree with the vast majority of beer raters here, with caramels, Waldhonig, apricots, dulce de leche, some berry cordial - very bubble gum-like - and a touch of booze. Nothing remarkable about the palate. It’s more of a honey ale than a baltic porter, in the end. I like the ale feel and the absence of the skunky Dunkel taste as in the Baltika 6. Having said that, and given the outdated label and the recent absence of this beer internationally, I would not be surprised if this was a bottle from an older batch that has been mellowed with time. I have rated it regardless of style. This beer completes my meagre porter ring around the Baltic sea. As an antipodean enthusiast of Baltic Porters, I must say that although I was very impressed with beauties from Poland, Finland, Denmark and Sweden, I was not too enthusiastic about each of the classic representatives of the three so-called Baltic Countries. Looking forward to try some of their other issues.
3.2 Bottle. Clear amber-brown with a small yellow-beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, chocolate, toffee and alcohol. Sweet with coffee, dried fruits, chocolate, licorice flavors and alcoholic warmth. Medium-bodied, a bit sticky on palate. Quite nice.
3.3 Caramel and raisins. Burnt raisins soaked in alcohol. Quite boozy. Clean and solid, but not much else.
4.0 500ml bottle from Beers of Europe - A Deep red body, beige head, nose of chocolate and dark malty fruit A nice thick rounded mouthfeel, boozy on the tongue, very nice indeed.
3.0 Serving: Bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a dark brown with a small head. The nose has light caramel and nut notes. Thin and flabby on the tongue. There is a little bread, light caramel, and a light nuttiness with an odd, almost metallic bitterness. A bit weak for the style, but drinkable.
3.4 Bottle. Pours dark brown with minimal head. The aroma has nuts, nuts, and more nuts. Taste is hazelnut forward, some burnt malt, not overly sweet. Well done.
3.4 Utenos Porter has a thick, spongy, beige head, a clear, somewhat bubbly, orange-brown appearance, and some lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, brown bread, bread crust, bubble gum, and banana pudding. The flavor is of the same, with a background slightly elevated hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and slimy, and Utenos Porter finishes wet, spread out, and fairly drinkable. Overall, this is a good, yet unusual porter. RJT
3.5 It has a light aroma of licorice. It has a deep amber color. It has a sweet taste of licorice, chocolate, and raisins. It has a nice roasted malty complexion. It has a smooth clean finish. Nice porter!
3.1 Very dark red brew with a thin tan head. Aroma is bread-like with a raisony hint. Taste is sweet and cola-like. Medium body, moderate carbs. Fairly bland Baltic Porter. Good, but by no means remarkable.
3.3 Had my eye on it for a while. I can’t remember when was the last time I had it. Nor do I remember what it tasted last time, so this is like clean slate new beginning. Pours Dark Brown, Medium Foamy Head that dissipates rather quickly leaving decent lacing. Slightly roasted, caramel, sweet malt, with slight alcohol zing. Slightly thinner than expected or remembered. Overall, quite good, no disappointments.
3.5 Pours a cloudy caramel/amber with a sticky head and medium carbonation. Aromas very bready, nutty, banana bread, caramel, toffee, hint of cherry, and honey. Flavors of banana bread, caramel, toffee, and grass. Medium bitter, medium sweetness, with a light bitter aftertaste. Aromas bigger and more complex than the flavors.
2.0 Hasselnötsbrun öl med lätt smutsvitt skum. Doft av mörkt bröd, bränt socker, fikon och mycket sötma. Även smaken är mycket söt. Saknar något som balanserar upp sötman.
3.4 Poured from a pint sized bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a rusty, copper brown color and was a touch hazy with a modest, foamy, off-white head with average retention, lacing, and cling. Its aroma had a mix of caramel malt along with raisin and a light earthy tone, with touches of pine and yeast. The taste had a malty and deeply sweet fruity character with raisin, and a light earthy tone with touches of pine and caramel, and a somewhat sour finish. The beer was wet, watery, and a bit creamy, with low carbonation, and a heavy and thick mouthfeel.
3.5 huge thanks to the man Mr. Dave. A lithuanian beer form a lithunian. Tastes like a dark rich plis, caramel malts and sweetness shine with the slightest noble hop character. Not too bad you rascals.
