Vapeur Cochonne

Vapeur Cochonne

9%vol. 33, 75 and 150cl Beer very amber in color, strong, nose fruity and delicate, soft and round with the palate; slightly hopped but correctly spiced (roasted chicory, coriander, and sweet orange peel, among other ingredients). Bottle fermented and complex. On the Port-y side fresh. Spiced distinctly with orange, corriander and chicory. Should cellar nicely.

3.6 Pours a hazy amber with a medium white rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is of caramel, dark fruits and spices. Taste is more dark fruits with some light fruity tartness. Warming alcohol. Body is medium, carbonation moderate. A fun belgian strong with some good quadrupel features.
2.5 [backlog] 09-04-16 / bottle at home, bought in Belgium. Spicy malt, some floral hops. Plums. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 2.75/5
3.3 Bottle. Clear amber beer with a decent beige head. Malty spicy aroma, grapes, caramel, herbal, some floral notes. Malty herbal flavor, grassy, citrus, hay, some warming alcohol. Ok.
3.0 Bottle (750 ml), shared. Hazy amber with a small off-white head leaving little lacing. Aroma is of caramel malt, spices (coriander mostly), orange peel and berries. Taste is moderately sweet, quite spicy (coriander again), with orange peel, caramel, mineral/earthy notes and very light bitterness. Medium body. Soft to moderate carbonation. Spicy and caramel-ish finish with mild lingering orange peel presence. Too spicy and caramel forward for my liking but not badly executed. Ok.
2.5 750 ml bottle shared by Keir - thanks again, Keir! I guess. 1996 vintage. This one pours a clear orange with no head. Notes of leather, metal, apple skins, earth, wet leaves and wood, some mild spice. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and mouthfeel that I described as "tart and weird". It’s a complete mess. I have no idea what it was like years ago but this doesn’t cellar for 20 years, it turns out. I’d rate it a lot lower if it were newer.
3.4 Sweet malts, fermnting fruit, brown caramel, alcohol and estery fermentation. Sweet alcohol throughout, but oddly still satisfying. Some spices. Not refined nor well developed, but I still enjoy it. (33cl bottle from Dekoninck)
3.5 As Vapeur Cochonnette ABV 8,5 % >>Bière ambrée fort sucrée épicée sur lie.
3.4 Spicy and fruity aromas and flavours. A bit oversweetened. Nice consistency, not too wattery. Yeasty. Strong. I wouldn’t mind having a few others bottles.
2.9 Bottle 33 cl, pours a dark amber colour with a small head, aroma of spices, Sweet taste.
3.2 Amber and hazy with an uneven head. Slightly sour and spicy. I bought this for the picture of pig with boobies
2.4 Brown colour with thin head. Aroma is a bit musty with some cardboard. Flavour is full of sugary sweetness. Woody dryness.
3.5 From notes (9/5/14, Ebenezer’s in Maine). Belgian yeast notes with some light spice and a lot of grain and hay taste. Very complex, with some odd (but not at all bad) characteristics from the spices.
Correct
3.2 sour OEC fest, this one was boring, well made but simple and boring, Some spices, some nougat and caramel, the rest is meh.
2.5 Bad beer. Aroma is dirt, cola, pepper, and coriander, taste is flabby dr pepper with not much going on that tastes right.
3.2 Cochonnette, bottle at home. Chestnut brown colour, beige foamy head. Sweet malty tones dominate, sugary, spicy, liquorice, cough syrup. Short finish. Low carbonation, medium body.
2.7 Under name "Cochonnette" Dark amber with small beige head. Aroma of wilted apples. Taset of roasted caramel, wilted apples and unfortunately - strong presence of alcohol, what is unpleasent.
3.5 11.2 oz bottle pours hazy brown with a thin off white head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit and a little funk. Taste is yeast, raisins and malts.
3.3 Tasted during Nepenthia. Nice orange peel up front, mild spice. Some earthy character. Caramel. Amber color. Thin off-white head. Bits of lace. Lots of particles in the body. Medium-plus body. Kind of slick. Lighter carbonation. Moderate sweet taste, mild bitter. Solid fruity belgian ale.
2.9 Bottle. 9.0%. No ’best before’ date. 10 cl. sample. Pours an unclear amber/brown with a light tan head. Good lacing. Sour and fruity aroma with a bit of brett. Light metallic overtone. Fruity flavour with a light sourness. Dry, bitter finish, a bit tart. Too much carbonation. Overall okay, but still kind of meh. 01.05.15.
3.2 Pour on tap at Falling Rock, hazy orange-red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, some dark fruit into a bit of coriander, clove, some slight hints of oaky notes with a touch of toast. Taste was a mix of earth, grain, dough into a bit of caramel, some fruity notes into a bit of dark fruit, some red fruits, citrus, finishing slightly dry, slightly sweet.
Sopra i 40 anni 5 bicchieri diventano 4... :)
3.1 Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper with no head. The aroma is strong funk, caramel, figs, spice. Medium mouth, funky, fruity, lemon zest, good.
2.9 VBC 2015 hazy amber of color with an off white head. An aroma of spice, malty, sweets and weak sour. A flavor of sweet malt, spice, wood and dry. A saison?
3.2 Bottle share at VBC. Flew out the bottle, overcarbonated. Hazy dark amber with a small white head. Brett aroma. Medium low body, low bitterness and hop flavour.
2.5 28/II/15 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) as "Cochonette" @ home - BB: VIII/2016 (2015-241) Clear amber to red brown beer, small irregular aery beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit dirty, sourish, apple skin, fruity, bit sweet, some caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, some caramel, sourish touch, green apples, bit dirty, very spicy, and is that cloves? Aftertaste: caramel, very spicy, cloves, bit sweet, unpleasant bitterness.
2.4 33 cl bottle at home (Cochonette). Dark brown in colour and pan flat. Aroma is sharp, wine-like. Taste is also sharp, some fruit and then dry. Tart, mineral, almost sherry tastes. No real effervescence, sticky finish. Not sure what to think of this. I normally enjoy sour beers, but this one falls short.
