3.3 Fles 33cl thuis. Rood fruit, krent, rozijn, pruim, zoet, roasted malts. (2-2016).
Noire forte
3.4 Flaska från belgiuminabox. BBD maj-17. Kolsvart med högt beige skum. Madeiraiserad, torkad frukt, främst russin, men också torkade mörka körsbär, mjölkchoklad, sött vin, mörkt socker. Söt smakbild men lite torrare eftersmak. Gott
3.7 the aroma is caramel and fruity with hints of milk chocolate, vanilla, toffee, dark fruits and berries... the taste is caramel and fruity with notes of milk chocolate, toffee, red wine, berries, raisin and some spices... sweet, dry and bitter aftertaste...
3.5 Pours a dark cola brown with a tan head. Aroma of tart fruit, light vinegar, wood, and dark malts. Taste is lightly tangy with dark malts and earthy wood notes. Not bad but not as good as I had hoped for. Tastes more like a Schwartzbier than a Stout. Still fairly enjoyable.
3.5 (~noire, nez levure, bouche ~limpide, carbo soutenue (stout belge), ensemble trop léger (yet 9° !) et fade (puis ajout d'huître))
3.2 This is a gift from Anthony B, thanks man. It's pretty fair for a Belgian dark but tastes very little like a foreign stout or a stout of any kind for that matter. It's quite sweet lots of dark ripe fruits like prunes raisins dates figs. No roast black malt or anything like that.
3.8 Bouteille 33 cl.
3.0 Very sour/vinegar type of stout. Tart vinegar and barley malt aroma. Taste was sour with some dark roasted malts. Not a fan. bottle
3.4 33 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Silvia. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Roasted malts, molassess, soy sauce in the aroma. Sweet taste with a roasted, almost smoky undertone. Quite boozy as well. Nice export stout.
3.3 zwart bier met beige schuimkraag. Bitterzoet, smaken van tabak, zwarte chocolade, kandijsuiker.
4.2 12-07-2017; bottle; at home (bought online at www.drankgigant.nl, Oost-Souburg, The Netherlands). The beer looks lovey. The beer has a black colour, with a slight ruby red/dark reddish brown glow in strong light. On top some soft brown foam is formed, but most foam collapses very quickly. Some lacing is left on the glass. It looks like a proper stout. The smell of the beer is nice. It has some features of stout and some features of Belgian Strong Ale. I smell some sweet malts, with touches of caramel, but also some coffee and chocolate, though the latter are only mild. There are also some full sweet fruity touches and a hint of raisin. Hops are gentle and give some bitterness. There are clear yeast aromas present. This gives the Belgian Strong Ale touch. It gives some sweet aromas of banana, but also a slightly sour touch. It is not bad. The taste of the beer is also nice. The bitters of a stout are more present. I taste sweet malts, caramel, come chocolate and coffee and a burnt/toasted malt bitterness. Nice. This goes well with the sweet red fruits, raisin, caramel and yeasty touches of banana and some slight yeasty sours. Hops give a balancing bitterness. Both smell and taste remind me a bit of Rochefort. Nice. It is well balanced. The palate of the beer is good. Medium full body, smooth texture and medium carbonation. The finish is nice. It is long, and filled with deliciousness. There is some warming alcohol, sweet fruits, raisin and some touches of yeast, but also some clear roasted barley flavours. I like it. A nice Foreign Stout; a good blend between Stout and Belgian Strong Ale.
4.1 Bottle. Opaque deep brown. Small stable tan head. Aroma: rich dark malts. Toffee, roast, caramel. Spicy yeast along. Medium body. Medium sweet taste. Tastes like a Belgian strong dark ale with additional roastiness. I liked it a lot.
3.5 Took some convincing pooring to get a decent head, dark mokka, disappearing quickly but leaving ample lacing. Aroma burnt but mostly alcoholic ( not bad though, it has a bit of a vinous character ), sweet with a trace of vanilla. Aroma suggesting an oily texture. Taste sweet coffee, obviously alcoholic, sweet. Apart from the alcoholic tingle and the fine bitter aftertaste great mouthfeel very thick and soft. Plenty of body. For me way too alcoholic ( for summertime at least and I do not have that much worries, well I’m lying...) and too sweet ( not enough coffee ) but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
3.8 Bottle 33 cl. Dark brown color, almost black, tan noisy foam. Aroma: dark malts, slightly burnt, esters, prunes and other dried fruits, wine, caramel. Taste: port wine) caramel, sweet, light burnt notes, prunes, toffee, lively carbonation, warming.
2.9 Poured from a bottle, dark black color with a foamy tan head and heavy carbonation. A sweet malt and plum aroma. A sweet malt and plum aroma slightly watery mouth feel a sweet plum finish.
3.3 F: medium size, brownish, poor retention. C: dark, opaque. A: roasted malt, light coffee, dark fruits, liquorish, cocoa, hint of vanilla and tobacco. T: malt, dry coffee on the palate, dark fruits, liquorish, chocolate, prunes, medium to full body, medium carbonation, aroma is promising but taste doesn’t go this way, 0,33l bottle from Carrefour market – St. Michel @ Etterbeek, Brussels.
3.5 Dark brown to black colored, medium tan head, OK lasting. Aroma is of chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruits, some spice and Belgian yeast. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, chocolate, roasted malt, brown sugar, dark fruity, some spice and Belgian yeast, bit of alcohol, medium bitterness, bittersweet finish, bit bready. Medium+ bodied, average carbonation. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)
3.4 330ml bottle BB 9 Jun 2018. Deep brown with very minimal head that quickly disappears. Quite sweet aromas of candi sugar, cherry, some chocolate, just a hint of roastiness. The taste very much reflects the aroma, with some additional dark fruits, herbal hop notes and nutty character. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Something between a belgian dark strong and a stout, but pretty good.
2.9 Drunk from 33cl bottle bought from beer discovery club. Enjoyable dark sharp ale.
4.1 Bottle 33cl. Ink black with a lushly off white head. Beautiful in the glass. Aroma of liquorice, sugar, malts. The taste is pleasant. A mild sweetness is accompanied by a bitter undertone. Beautifully balanced. Good one!
3.9 Aroma: Malts, light sour, wood, light liquorice Appearance: Dark brow, see through, low carb, red glow, fine bubble off white foam, full lace Taste: Liquorice, wood, light vanilla, soy sauce, dried plums
3.4 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 09.06.2018 Near black body, thick, creamy tan head. Reasonable intensity aroma, somewhat a mixed bag - dark brown sugar, bread, smokey sort of phenolics, black fruits, raisin, burnt crust. Surprisingly lean body for strength, kind of drying texture, sort of well attenuated, lifted carbonation. Burnt sort of body - crust & wood & sugar and spice, black & dark fruits. Sort of bitter, dry, boozy, slightly phenolic. Almost like a black saison; not so sugar about it.
3.4 Bouteille de 33cl. Couleur noire, mousse moyenne de tenue moyenne. Arômes de caramel, café, réglisse, alcool très présent. Carbonnation moyenne. Trouvée à Vanuxeem - Ploegstaert.
3.3 Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of dark chocolate, prunes, caramel, tobacco and some spices. The taste was similar to the aroma with more roasted malts, prunes, dark chocolate, spices, licorice, wood and alcohol. Pretty tasty.
3.4 It pours dark with a tan head. The aroma has funky weird cream, roast and berries. It has a medium body with a lot of carbonation. The taste has smooth roast, berries, sourness and light spice. Good.
3.2 Sampled at Gregwilsonstl’s tasting. A big beige head leaves heavy lacing. The beer is dark brown with red highlights. Not a lot going on here. Some cherry, grain, earth, spice. Alcohol comes late and is airy. Not a great beer.
3.6 Dark black. Dry. Cocoa nibs. Cola. Tasted at my "Variants 2.0" bottle share.
