Vestfyen Willemoes Ale

Vestfyen Willemoes Ale

Willemoes Ale with licorice. The ale is produced from the finest Dansih malt, brewed with top fermenting yeast, and the finest hop from American hop plants. The taste is balanced with brown sugar and licorice, so the right balance between sweetness and body is gained.

2.6 500 ml bottle at Ola, thanks! Amber with small beige head. Aroma malty, some bread and liquorice. Taste similar. A bit too much liquorice for me
2.9 Dark with a big head. Caramel and malt on the nose. Taste is sweet and almost like honey. Little bitterness. Decent
2.4 Clear brown body and a small off-white creamy head. Aroma of brown sugar, nuts, licorice and some hops in the finish. Heavy sweet and light bitter taste. Sticky texture.
2.7 Bottle bought in Danmark. There is an addition of licorice in this beer, but that is rather anonymous.
1.4 This strong ale has a nice light brown foam that slowly fades into a compact renewable layer. It has a distinct aroma of caramel malt and really not much else. The flavor is very sweet of both caramel malt as well as the added sugar. Palate life is as such all right, but it is completely devoid of the expected hoppy bitterness. It is simply too boring.
2.5 19.07.2015. 0,5l Bottle. Netto, Kolding. Pale brown colour with white head. Aroma is sweetish caramel and malt. Moderate bitterness and moderate bitter aftertaste. OK
2.4 500 ml bottle from supermarket. Clear amber with off white head. Caramel malty with dark bread and earthy hops. Semi dry with low bitterness and low carbonation.
2.8 Clear brown, small white head. Aroma has malt and caramel. Similar flavour with dry and slightly boozy finish.
2.6 50cl. clear, brown/copper colour, beige medium head. aroma of malts. moderate sweetness, low bitterness. average carbonation
1.6 bottle. nice looking brown ale. metallic, too sweet, just a hint of caramel. won’t drink this one again
3.2 500ml bottle, 5.2 % abv, thanks to djoeye for sharing. Clear copper coloured body, a deep ruby shade to it. Fair beige head. Brown malty aroma, notes of dried fruits. Dark caramel flavours added by raisin, forest and dark fruits. Malt-fruity end. Fair enough (Tromsø 16.03.2015).
3.8 Dark off white top, copper near clear beer, rimmy lacing. Luxurious aroma of fruity malts, raisin dust, sweet brown malted candies. Taste; candiced hops, brown malts, candy, fruits, raisin, dwarf almond, plums and dark caramel. Good feel and body, and a fading fruity good finish. Superb moments. [50cl brown bottle, abv5.2%(!), #1544, BB15-04-15 T@SessionInTromsoe16mr2015]
2.0 A brown ale with white head. Aroma is caramel, malty, yeasty, prune? Taste is sweet. Soft feeling.
2.3 Copenhagen 6/2 2015. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly. Pours clear brown with off-white head. Gradually subsiding. Aroma is not very distinct. A little sweetness. Not much else. Medium carbonation. Taste is rather sweet and candylike and almost without bitterness. A whole candystore masquerading as beer.
2.2 Sweet and very metallic aroma. Equally metallic taste, but with hints of caramel. Red-brown coloured beer with a thin head, that disappears quite fast.
2.5 Bottle from Brugsen, CPH - amber pour with off-white head. Toasty malty aroma and taste, some caramel, toffee, slight rough mouthfeel.
3.3 Very interesting beer. Nose is very metallic and off putting: but it has a nice deep brown color and frothy beige head. Taste is sweet but in no way sickly. It doesn't taste like licorice per say but it counterbalances the sweetness to give a coffee toffee taste. Not my style but good on a winters night!
2.6 The fist sip will leave you embarrassed. This is not an ale as I would expect it. No hops rubbing your palate, a sweetish maltiness fills up your moth and a uncommon, yet intense taste of licorice. And yes, they add licorice to this ale… Unfortunately not the sharp licorice that suits a lot of other beers, it’s a sweet licorice. Sort of "drop" which is soooo much liked by dutch children. But here... nor the children (they are not yet allowed to), nor myself really like it. Maybe becaose the harmony between the different If the maker of the Haribo Lakritzschnecken would brew a beer - this would most likely be the result. The biggest error you could make, is trusting the label and awaiting an real Ale.
3.2 Bottle. Nice clear brown color, with a medium, fine brown head. Nose is Sweet malty, heavy, dried fruits, toffee. Sweet taste, only light bitter, with a bit sourness. Medium texture, with flat carbonation. Aftertaste is somewhat earthy, maybe liquorice, not bad.
3.0 500ml bottle in Hamburg (BB 7/3/15). Brown colour with a decent beige head that laces soapily. Fragrant sweet aromas with caramel, molasses, dark fruits and a touch of coffee and liquorice. Tongue is sweet and malty with a very mild dry hop finish. Palate is quite light for the ABV with a soft carbonation. Quite quaffable despite the sweetness.
2.8 500ml bottle. Clear, reddish, dark copper-ish brown colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, modrately lacing, off-white head. Strawy aroma with traces of animalistic metabolism end-products, cautious hints of red berries. Taste is dry, minimally fruity, a touch of red berries over a dry undefinable grainy-strawy-malty basis.
2.6 Flaska från en kompis. Rubinbrunfärgad vätska med ett lågt skum. Doft av karamell. Smakar karamell. Vattnig munkänsla. ingen höjdare.
2.5 Bottle 05,l. My bottle says ABV 5,2% Nice amber deep reddish body , beige head, some lacing. Aroma , malts, caramel, some licorice. Palate is medium, crispy and soft, carbonation mouthful. Taste is sweet and malty, with some sugary toners, papery hoppy bitterness and stickiness. Finish is dry and sticky and somewhat bitter. Overall a disappointment, the combination is more of stale, flavors unclear, and sugary sweet maltiness is off putting. At ABV 5,2% it tastes like 10% ABV sugar added heavy lager, with only character being the headache.
3.4 Drinking from a 0,5l bottle. A sweet perfume like aroma, flowers, The clear brown beer has a medium brown head. Coffee, alcohol, caramel in the taste. Medium carbonated.
2.9 Bottle @ parents: Pours clear dark amber with powerful off-white head and medium carbonation. Aroma contains bread, nuts, caramel with hints of spices and liqurice. medium body and medium sweetness
2.7 Flaske 0,5 liter, det er helt klart sødmen der trækker karakteren op i den her øl, jeg syntes bestemt den dufter lidt forkert, lidt røget og lidt af fisk, eftersmagen er i orden.
2.7 (bottle, 5.2% abv) Clear, deep amber colour with a beige and firm foamy head of medium size. Bready and nutty dark malty aroma with notes of caramel and traces of liquorice and vanilla. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Nutty and mildly toasted malty taste with notes of caramel and a restrained dried fruity touch; moderately sweet and delicately leathery sour-fruity finish with hints of licked liquorice in the aftertaste. Drinkable but not overly demanding. 19.IV.14
2.6 Bottle @ Home. Pours dark amber with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, light licorcie, some metal notes. Flavor is verysweet with malt, caramel, brown sugar, light licorice. Medium body, lively carbonation. 260514
2.8 Aroma: floral and hops Flavor: roasted sweet caramel and a slight bitter aftertaste Color: golden amber with a white head
