3.7Draft at Global Brew in OFallon. This was semi clear and golden with a small white head. Lots of sour flavors and funk that seemed bretty. Also lots of nice fruit flavors. Some banana and sugars and late hops. The funk tended to dominate.
3.7On draft at Rattle and Hum, NYC. Yellow complexion with orange haze. Persistent white head. Tart with sour funk along with citrus flavors and mild sweetness. Very enjoyable and under rated on RB.
3.6Bottle at home. Slightly cloudy blonde colour, small white head. Aroma lots of tripel, Belgian yeasty, gueuze funk, bit boozy. Taste is sweet tripel, with just a touch of sourness in the background. Think age has dimmed the gueuze element. Left this too late, but have had it before so can remember. Fair bit of fruit, apricot, quite full bodied. Bit like a tripel with a slight sourness. Maybe past its best, so a bit harsh.
3.3bottle @ kulminator
pours blonde, big white steady foam
in the scent some sopurness, but in a weird, background way.
taste is way to much carbo, sweetness from the tripel, not realy sour, but more like a tripel, made more intresting . failrly dry , somewhat harsh in drinkability. an OK beer, but yet it is special.
3.7On tap at Newburgh. Pours a deep black with a medium sized beige head. Roast on the nose full of sesame notes, sweet wheat. The sesame on here is stunning, and I’m certainly a sucker for sesame oil notes in darker roastier beers. Soft sweet roast, malt, toast and cocoa. A bit of banana peeks through, soft wheat. Lovely roast. This was super drinkable, and I certainly had a number of pints of it (and then a growler two days later). Tons of body for a smaller ABV beer. Really liked this one.
3.7Tap at CK. Pours a low haze gold. Weak head. Lightly funky nose. White wine, roses, grapefruit, melon, lime. Taste is light, spritzy, hints of Girardin Geuze leather and grapefruit in the background and hints of some white grape juice and sugar cube stickiness. Interesting. Girardin comes out nicely. Beer is still odd. Enjoyable though. 8/3/7/4/15=3.7
3.8The complex aroma’s of a lambic combined with the fruitiness of a tripel. Very drinkabel
3.8On tap at Monk’s. Nice funky-oaky aroma. Lactic tart with a bit of yeasty tripel sweetness. Light amber hazy body with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts tart and lactic with some oak, tripel yeasty sweetness and gueuzy funk. Finish is gueuzy but tempered by sweet and dry tripel notes. Clean wheat-tang after. Quenching.
3.7Bottle from Etre Gourmet. Clear golden a bit bubbly beer with a big offwhite lasting head. Vinous, sourish, fruity aroma, reminds me first about dry white wine. Sourish and sweet, hoppy and vinous flavour. A nice different lind of beer.
3.6Bottle from Etre Gourmet. Golden beer with a nice lasting white head. Yeasty fruity aroma, sourish with some rubber, vinous, spicy notes, bready, some hay. Sourish vinous flavor, hay, yeast, bready, rubber notes, grassy, some spices, grapefruit and some barnyard. Interesting mix but not top class.
3.9Nice experiment. Combines the best of a geuze with the best of a tripel. Bitter and sour. Hops and herbs. Good one!
3.4Enjoyed on tap at ebenezer’s Pub, another rare find. Strong taste and boozy. Very lacey. A good integration of geuze and yeast, but it is a stinky one.
3.437,5 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu. Rated on 06.11.2011
Aroma is sourish with some apples, some spices and citron. Flavour has somewhat tart apples, citron and hints of spices. A bit too messy and stuffy.
3.6poured from bottle into a tulip. Pours a medium gold color with a nice foamy head.
Very good aromas that lead more towards the funky with aromas of green and red apples, spice tones, bits of funk and some tart citrus.
Full bodied, but lacking some depth. Smooth with a dry finish and notes of red and green apples, spices and some creams.
Would be interesting to see how this is with some more time in the bottle. The sourness didn’t really stick out on the taste, but the finish was on the dry side. Wasn’t fully sure what to make of the hybrid, but it was a good beer.
3.2Pours a hazed golden orange with a white head. A very musty aroma to this, damp oak, funk, and barnyard. A touch of sweet banana and bubblegum, sweet sugar, straw, and yeast. All over the place. The flavor is just as disjointed. Musty funk, barnyard, straw, and some oak to go with the sweetness of the tripel. Banana, bubblegum, and a hint of cotton candy. Light citrus and some mild tartness.
3.7Pour is a hazed golden peach, deep amber core, tight white head. Nose seems to have a hint of bretty leather, strong yeast notes with a faint spice, light candied sugar blends into lemon zest and a tinge of alcohol. The taste is similar, a touch sweeter. Nice light spice and yeast but are overshadowed by lemon juice, candied sugar, and juicy citrus. Light body, airy, soft feel, and nice carb.
3.1Bottle. 2009 vintage. Almost clear, light amber/deep golden liquid with small to medium white head. Aroma of banana, horseblanket (funk), wheat, bubblegum and red fruits/berries. Taste is light to medium sour, light sweet with no bitterness with notes of belgian yeast esters and funk. Light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Interesting blend but it doesn’t work to well. Too much overripe bananas for my taste.
2.5Årgång 2008. Lite sötaktig fatdoft. Smaken är också söt men inte så genomträngande. Små kryddiga undertoner och en svag syrlighet.
3.0Bottle at Kulminator, March 2012. (Vintage 2008)
Hazy golden with a medium white head. Fruit, caramel, yeast and some earth. A light sourness and a medium mouth feel. Drinkable but nothing extraordinary.
4.1On tap, a nice interplay of Geuze and tripel, I know most people expected more funk and it was a bti sweet, but hey it was pretty good.
2.8From notes. First reviewed 11/8/2011. Served on tap at Hopleaf in a tulip.
The appearance is a hazy dark tangerine color with a more orange hue in the center. A frothy off-white head is moderate in size and lightly laces the glass.
Vicardin Triple Gueuze has a mild aroma, lacking much of a strong sweet tripel or tart gueuze aroma. Instead, I get a fair amount of grassy and hay notes, some soft biscuity malt, and and a hint of lemon. A soft pungent note rests in the background.
The flavor seems to lack a direction, with the two blended styles more canceling each other out than complementing each other well. There is a soft honey sweetness, some grassy and hay notes going along with a moderate malty front. Some green apple and lemon zest coalesce with the tart middle, and the finish has a dry, lightly funky, grassy bitter, champagne like finish.
The mouthfeel is the area that I like least about this beer. The light, crisp tart flavors of a gueuze work well with the lighter body. Tripels work well with a fuller body and creamy carbonation. By making the body have a light to medium body with a carbonation that gets lost between creamy and crisp, it is just too hard to figure out what it wants to be. The sweetness and tartness create an oddly dry body that I don’t care for that much.
This is kind of an unfortunate amalgamation of two of my favorite styles. Instead of forming some brilliant combination of sweet, Belgian spice, and tart, it fruitlessly pulls equally hard in too many directions, resulting in a beer that doesn’t have much of anything interesting going on.
3.5On tap at Monk’s Kettle, SF. When I overheard the bartender describing this beer, I was intrigued by the clash of styles. Certainly it walks and talks like a gueuze for the most part, but there are some interesting moments of hybridity. Clean, mostly clear gold pour with a crisp, thin head. Hints of sweetness and fruit in the nose, but soon overshadowed by sour notes. Mouthfeel is moderately acetic, and is helped by the prickly carbonation. Flavors are tart fruit, hints of malty sweetness, and a smidge of pepper. Overall it comes off like a refreshing and fairly mild sour with some interesting additions.
2.8Bottled, at tasting at _angst_. Hazy golden, rich creamy head. Sugary pineapple aroma. Sweet and fruity with medium body and spritzy rounded mouthfeel. Honeyish with some saccharine. Salty bitterish finish. Lacks depth.
3.0330 ml bottle bought @ Etre Gourmet. Shared at epic tasting on February 11. Pours golden with a big white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some lacing. Smell is sweet and slightly malty with bread, sweet fruits, belgian yeast and hints of farmyard and citrus. Taste is sweet, slightly tart, malty and slightly metallic with floral nectar, citrus, leather and nuts. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Finish is sweet, dusty and slightly spicy. Taste and smell was a bit off in an unexpected way. Might have been a bad bottle.
2.2Bottle from an overseas shop. Served in a Grote Dorst mini gueuze tumbler.
Pours a fairly-cloudy yellow color with a thick white head and some spotty lacing on the way down. Good retention, as a nice cap sits throughout. Far too hazy, however.
The nose carries some banana-like esters with some clovey phenolics. Some light pilsner malt in the background. Nothing really coming from the gueuze portion of this beer.
The flavor has a bit of bitter dryness and a fair amount of peppery spice. Light fruity notes are there as well. Some alcohol in the background. I’m really still struggling to see the gueuze component of this brew; it tastes like an average tripel.
Mouthfeel is light and crisp with a bitterness to the finish that is a bit off. Moderate alcohol presence.
Overall, not a huge fan of this one. I would not revisit this beer.
2.9Bottled 33 cl at the epic sour beer tasting at _angst_ place, on February 11, 2012
Brought by _angst_, thanks!

Hazy yellow color, white head. Sweet, alcohol, grainy scent. Apple, malty, grainy taste, also alcohol. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness.
3.0Courtesy of _angst_. Pours cloudy gold amber with a small bubbly white head leaving lace. Aroma is soapy, grassy, malty and fruity. Flavor is fruity, sweet, sour, bitter, malty, yeasty, spicy. Interesting. Finishes bitter malty and sourish.
3.0(Bottle) Pours hazy golden with an off-white head. The aroma holds white bread, brett, flowers, honey, mild citrus and almonds. The flavour is medium sweet, medium acidic and tiny bitter with notes of wood, honey, citrus, fruits, wheat, bread, nut shells and hops. The flavour is tart and soft with a light carbonation. Astringent finish. Medium bodied.
4.2lemon-colored, veiled, abundant and fine foam.
aromas of fruit, full body. impressive balance between the sweetness of sugar and acidity of the Belgian Geuze. affects the finale reminiscent of the French champagne. wonderful beer. something new.
4.6Terrific beer! Nice combination of sourness of Gueuze and the full flavor of the Tripel
