3.2On tap at Taproom on 19th. Pours a clear gold with medium frothy off white head. The aroma is citrus and grass. Thin mouth, light hop bite, pine, lingering bitterness, good.
1.5Not much of an aroma. Light yellow color w no cloudiness. Flat start and boring finish
3.1Bottle sample at the session IPA tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 4/16/15. Clear yellow pour with a medium white head. Aroma of spicy and piney hops with some maltiness. Piney and malty flavor with some grapefruit juice before a grassy hop finish.
3.7Tropical citrus hop aroma. Flavor is the same with a slight piney bitter finish. For a light beer there is a nice malt balance. Flavorful session IPA. In the ballpark of founders all day, but I think I like founders all day a touch more.
3.4Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall pure white, soapy head. Aroma of bright grassy and herbal hops with some pungent alcohol and grassy bitterness as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal flavours with a good kick of white pepper, herbs and hops as well, all on the finale. Overall, a fairly good light IPA, with some depth still coming out here. I sampled this twevle ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia on 28-March-2015 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 27-April-2015.
3.812 oz bottle. Pours a clear light gold with a foamy medium sized white head. Aroma of crisp malt, floral notes, bitter hops and light funk. Taste of floral notes, bitter hops, crisp malt, and watery grapefruit. Nice session stuff.
3.3Tap at stags head. Thin yellow pour white head. Nose is plenty hoppy with slight tropical fruits. Tastes of pineapple, grassy, hops without being bitter, some hay. Thin palate. Juicy finish. Easy to pound if that’s your fancy
3.8Happy 19th anniversary. Good session IPA with lots of hops and fresh finish. Medium taste but nice aroma.
3.6Bottle. Pours a pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, grassy hops, pine and grapefruit. Flavor of pale malts, citrus, pine, grapefruit, grass and had some herbal notes.
2.8Bottle. Pours a pale straw yellow , medium white head, decent retention and lacing. Nose is light citrus, hay, see faint. Mouth is light bodied, pale malt, slight bitterness, lemongrass. Pretty average session beer from a brewery I typically expect greatness from. Hopefully 20th is a more remarkable anniversary.
3.5Bottle. I have to say, I really love "session" IPAs. Golden in color with a nice head. Hoppy, citrus, spruce aroma. Taste is a mild citrus and spruce. Not a blow your taste buds away IPA just a perfect tasting one.
2.6Straw pour, white head. Aroma is floral, citrus, and yeast. Flavor is very grassy and floral with pale malt backbone. A bit thin. Disappointing.
3.7pours unclear pale yellow with a small white cap, reviving and leaving some lacing. spicy and crackery pils maltiness, floral citrus, subtle nz-like hops, light fruitiness - pears and white grapes; some peach candies, catpee, leafy herbal tea - touch of soil/dirt. light carbonation, light body - slightly watery; balanced spicy-citrusy finish. nz/american/english session ipa. very nice!
3.4Bottle. Light straw beer with a cream head. light grapefruit and light grain aroma. Grapefruit and light pine flavor. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and light pine linger.
3.6Location: Draft at Blind Tiger, 3/15/2015
Aroma: Lighter aroma, some grapefruit/tropical hops, resiny notes, and a little onion
Appearance: It is clear gold in color, with a white head and some solid lace
Flavor: This one has a pretty good hop profile, leaning bitter, and just lightly sweet
Palate: It is light bodied and easy drinking, with a soft feel, and a clean, dry finish
Overall Impression:
Pretty solid Session IPA, but not one of the better ones in the style. Drinkable beer overall though. You could certainly do worse than to take down a few of these in a session.
3.2Clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is very slight hops. Flavor is light with some crisp bitter hops. Clean finish, perhaps a bit too light, even for a session IPA.
Wife: 3.3
3.3Draught @ Albion. Very pale yellow with small creamy white head, piney hops aroma, low carbonation, thin body, strong hops taste, abrupt finish with little hops aftertaste. A nice anniversary brew!
2.9Pours a light hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of malt, pine and citrus. Taste is bitter and malty, slight hop presence, muted.
3.8The closest to a 3.2 beer I have, as befits National Beer Day. 12 oz. bottle sent for review. Had this maybe 2 months, and the "Enjoy by" date is May18, but there’s still a nice nose of hops as I open the cap and hear the inviting "pssssht!". Pour is very light, like a "regular" Pale lager, except for a haze from visible particles of hops floating around. Aroma is strong on those ’catbox" hops I actually like; Amarillo, Simcoe, etc., or so I think. Taste is full of the same kind of hops I caught in the nose, intensely bitter and resiny. Yet fun for hop heads anywhere. Light malts, of course, and a bit gassy. Almost as if someone snuck into a megabrewery and dumped some actual flavor into the kettle. Then I find some notes of black peppercorn as I near the bottom of the glass. I might personally like more malt backbone, but that would take it out of the "sessionable" category. Dry finishes wraps up the bottle. Definitely something you could have several servings of in a night, and just might want to.
3.7For a low malt session IPA, it’s pretty good. The aroma is sort of faint, but if you let it warm a bit the notes are of lemon, slightly earthy, and some indistinguishable citrus fruitiness. The flavors are nice and hop forward. The malt profile is almost nonexistent and really not what’s on show here. The hop flavors are earthy and fruity--it has a very pure, simple flavor. You know what I mean? Finish is not bitter but refreshing. Overall, it’s a fall asleep in the sun in your backyard kind of brew.
3.7Bottle from Corti Brothers. Pours gold with a slight white head. Aroma seems towards dank and Mosaic. Near medium body. Flavor is somewhat dank with resin and hints of crazy fruits. It’s quite bitter and pretty hoppy. To be a standard all that’s required would be a stronger malt backbone. But then the ABV wouldn’t be sessionable. As it is, this is a great ale which should be great during summer activities.
3.9First off, well done Victory. A sessionable IPA that's damn close to a true 6% plus balanced IPA. Poured clear golden, bubbly white head. Nose is citrus, resinous hops, some earthy malts and wood notes. Clean west coast hop resins along with mat backing, long bitter finish with a touch of sweetness. Balanced .A day drinking bonanza. Session on
3.412 ounce bottle – nose is combo of cat pee, resin and citrus. Sip adds a little cardboard AKA floral notes. Balanced considering the style. Easy to drink
3.6Local, Philadelphia, draft. Fruity aroma. Looks "light." No head or lacing. Not heavy, fruity taste, light palate. OK for a session IPA.
3.5Bottle from singles rack at Binny’s in Lakeview. Pours yellow / golden; pretty clear. Thin white head. Nose / initial taste is citrus / grapefruit / grass.....quite tasty.
3.2Bright, mostly clear yellow color. Aroma is citrus, grassy. Taste is mostly citrus rind and grapefruit with very little sweetness. It’s decent, but not something I’ll be trying again. There are better session IPA choices (Stone Go-To is one of my favorites).
3.312oz bottle. Slightly hazy yellow/golden with very thin head. Grassy
and citrus aroma. Likewise with the taste, slight grapefruit and dry finish. Pretty good session IPA.
3.8Bottle poured a light golden color with a thin coating of white head. Aroma has citrus, nice supporting malts, mild resins, and a bit of sweetness. Mouth feel is light with medium low carbonation. Flavor has nice clean hops, citrus, mild grapefruit, bit of bitterness, and sweet supporting malt. Feels like it is much bigger in abv.
4.1Definitely one of the better session IPAs I’ve tasted recently. This beer poured a bright and clear light yellow color with a straw-like hue. There wasn’t much head on the beer, but it did leave some really sticky lacing around the inside of the glass. The nose was fairly aggressive, with plenty of woody and hoppy notes. The flavors were bright, clean and fresh, with plenty of spicy, dry, woody and fruity hops. There were just enough malts in the beer to provide a balanced backbone. Very delicious IPA!
4.2This is truly the first Session IPA I will rebuy. It has a great hop flavor that is more than an American Pale, really on par with a decent IPA, but the alcohol is less, so it isn’t sweet or alcoholic. Great.
