Voodoo Pilzilla

Voodoo Pilzilla

Pilzilla, a beer Matt has dubbed a bastardized German, Czech, Polish Pils. There are a lot of things going on in the dude’s head, man. It carries all the traits that they call for in a beer and then voodooized. This is a fun, unique interpretation of the beer that Matt fell in love with in Europe. It will take on it own identity and grow each year in varieties of hop and alcohol. Soon to take over Tokyo. Not yet in theaters near you.

Ingredients: premium German 2 row barley, dash of Vienna, 9 varieties of German, Czech, and Polish hops. Out house lager blend of yeast.

3.5 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Slightly hazy deep golden with small white head. Aroma is nice Pilsner malt, medium body, lower carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is rich Pilsner malt.
3.4 gold color; hoppy aroma - noble hops with some grass and mild citrus; crisp, grassy, bitter hop flavor with some herbal notes and grainy malt
3.4 Lichtgeel bier zonder schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig met iets van ananas en mango maar dan niet zoet. Mooi hoppig bier.
3.6 Medium golden color. Grassy nose that is slightly astringent. Very smooth full bodied. Rounded. Very dry.
3.6 Fat på MBCC 2018, grönt pass. Klar ljusguldig. Lite utav en upp-pumpad pilsner med större beska och lite mer bittra toner. Smak av bröd, säd, jäst och citrus. Viss alkoholsötma. Helt ok.
2.8 Provsmak på MBCC 2018. Ljust gul med vitt skum. Doft och smak av citrus och bröd.
3.2 On tap at Rule Taproom Moscow as Voodoo Killapilz. Clear gold. White well-lacing head. Nose: strange yeast notes making me think of the term 'wild'. Solid clean grains behind. Addituonal fruity notes. Medium to full body. Taste: balanced malt and hops of European origin as it seems. Medium bitterness. And that strange yeasty note again. Infected keg?
3.1 Keg at MBCC 2018 Green (session IV), 12/05/18 ... as Killa Pillz. Light golden blonde with a decent off white cap. Nose is pale malts, straw, toasted grains, cereals. Taste comprises grassy bite, pale malts, light breads, corn, straw, faint citric notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough for the style.
2.3 12-MAY-2018, draft @MBCC Green session, with Ulkløbben. Sweet malt, hay. Bitter. Hops does not seem fresh. Taste profile is mostly sweet malt. And at 7.5% the malt profile i doubled but the hops are not compared to a pilsner. Nope. This is no good.
3.5 Draft as KillaPilz at Tria Taproom. Mostly clear deep gold pour with a finger of white foam. Big flavorful Pils. Complex malt profile. Caramel toast. Some grassy hops help redefine what could be a boozy finish. Well constructed.
3.4 Fat på MBCC 2018. Klar, gyllengul kulör med vit skumkrona. Doft och smak av pilsnermalt, citrus, hö och citrus. Brödig och alkoholsöt kropp.
3.1 Sample at MBCC 2018 green session. Clear golden with white head. Malty and light herbal yeasty lager.
3.8 Fat på MBCC 2018, grönt pass. Klar ljusguldig. Gott iaf.
3.5 12May2018 Sweet grain and cereal malts, caramel, hay, straw. Clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Light bitter. More grain and cereal malts, hay, straw, bitter grass, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Decent for style. Keg at MBCC18 Green Session, Copenhagen.
3.3 Score: 6 / 4 / 6 / 4 / 13 Draught as Voodoo Killapilz at MBCC 2018, green session. Golden, medium hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, off-white head. Aroma of sweet grains, grass, flowers, herbs, bread, some fruits. Tastes similar, with more herbs. Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes bitter, dry, herbal, grassy, floral, citric, bready, grainy. Nice. Nothing special, a typical Pils, but crisp, clean and fresh to drink. Solid stuff.
3.1 Tap @MBCC2018, Green Session. As Killapilz. Clear golden, white head. Grainy, malty aroma. Similar flavour, light hoppy spice.
3.4 Fat på MBCC 2018, grönt pass. Klar ljusguldig. Lite utav en upp-pumpad pilsner med större beska och lite mer bittra toner. Viss alkoholsötma. Mja, sådär.
2.6 Tap. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is herbal. Taste is herbal, sugar icing. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Ok.
3.4 Tap at MBCC 2018. Pours clear golden. Aroma of malt, citrus, pine. Fairly bitter
3.1 Bottle from de Caigny as Killapilz. Clear golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of grainy and biscuity malt, grassy hop, bit sulphury yeast. Soft to medium bitterness, grassy, grainy. Bit like what you would expect from a strong lager.
3.5 Copenhagen 25/3 2018. 35,5 cl bottle from Mikkeller web shop. As "Killa Pilz Imperial Lager". Some kind of Howling Monster made out of Leafs on the label. Pours hazy, golden yellow with small white head. Settles as 1,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer as a blanket. Massive lacing. Aroma is sweet malts and fruity pear with lighter and weaker bitter notes. Soft yet prickly carbonation and fat, creamy texture. Flavor is quite strong hiding the fairly high ABV. Medium sweetness followed by strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingering. Reminds me of a traditional Czech Pilsner - with an extra kick.
3.1 2/XII/17 - on tap @ Billies Craft Beer Festival - BB: n/a (2017-2064) Thanks to the Belgian, Dutch and German ratebeerians for sharing today's beers! Clear pale blond beer, small creamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very bitter, grains, malty, hay, metallic finish. Aftertaste: dry, grains, bitter finish.
3.9 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lemon, orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of earthy hops and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon, orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, biscuit dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is a delicious imperial pilsner. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Really great balance of German malts and noble hops, and not too aggressive. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
3.5 0.33l bottle@ Pours hazy golden with small white head. Fresh bread, grains, caramel, toffee, honey like malt flavors, supported by earthy, citrusy, fruity and pine-like hop flavors. medium-bodied, smooth texture with moderate carbonation.
3.6 Sampled at Billies Craftbeerfest 2017. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Don't mind the visual info to much, as lighting was really bad. Pours clear blonde, medium white head. Smell is rather malty, tad sharp. Taste is sharp, bitter, clean, crisp. Medium hoppy. OK
2.7 Briney grain nose. Hazy orange, medium head, little retention. Grass, grain, intense, bitter. Aspirin finish. Light body, moderate carbonation, powdery mouthfeel. Different, yes. Quaffable, no. Enjoyable, not really. IBUs must be off the charts and not in a good way.
3.1 Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. A slightly hazy pale golden beer with a mid sized most good lasting white head. Aroma of grainy malt, soft sweet malt. Taste of grainy malt, some honey, pale malt, some belgian yeast, boring.
3.9 (Thank you!) Sampled draft @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. Golden, white head. Nose is nice green grass hop, oily clean lager, mellow corn profile. Taste is oily white pepper, wheat, clean, lingering mellow grass, oily corn, very nicely done. Quite liked it, liked it more than most of their other overhyped style at the festival.
4.0 The aroma is full of hops, malt, citrus, grassy notes, yeast and hay. The color is straw yellow with a haze to it. The taste is full of hops, malt, citrus, grassy notes, yeast, caramel malt, hay, wheat and oats. A nice beer!
3.4 Bottle. Hoppy aroma of tropical, grass, herbal. Light Sweet and heavy bitter. Light and watery.
