3.030/XII/12 - 33cl bottle @ home: De Molen & assorted beers tasting - BB: n/a (2012-1406) Thanks to Johan for the bottle!
Very cloudy murky beige muddy looking beer (as it is a witbier, I made sure the yeast was mixed with the beer before pouring), small aery off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very smelly, yeast, honey, cheesy, sweet, bit flowery. MF: ok carbon, full to medium body. Taste: pretty sourish start, some citrus, dry, bitter yeasty. Aftertaste: bitter, little herbal, yeasty, some spices.
2.8Pears. Spices. Super carbonated. Champagne like. Nothing great but ok. Not my favorite. V
3.411.2oz bottle in a tulip. Pours light amber with a fluffy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, wheat and caramel, some citrusy notes, and floral hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. More too it than most witbiers.
2.8Bottle thx to benzai. Hazy orange, with a huge, active head. Smells yoghurt, herbs, yeast and some overripe fruit. Tastes overripe fruit, boring and just meh. Too much carbo, medium body.
2.733cl bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy murky orange color, huge incredibly high carbonated white to off-white head that lasts for quite awhile. Smell fruits, lightly yoghurt, orange peel, lightly herbs, light to moderately yeasty. Taste malts, orange peel, fruits, lightly sweet. High carbo, low to medium body.
2.3(bottle 18/05-2012) no head, unclear orange color, light spicy aroma, slightly spicy wheat taste, medium co2, slim body.
1.9Bottle @ home, thanks to Polk. Pours hazy orange brown with a fast fading white. Aroma is wheat, light spicy and light acidic. Taste is wheat, spicy, sweet fruit, banana, slightly sour. Medium body, average carbonation. 170512
3.2Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange yellow color. Foamy white head. Nose was citrus and spice, with a little wheat. Flavors were similar but weaker in character. Not a strong competition with others in the style.
2.6330 ml. bottle. Not sure of how old this bottle was. Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma of spices, citrus, and yeast. Taste is spices, citrus, malt, and yeast. Tart and a bit vinegary. Odd.
3.6Tasted from bottle into tulip glass. Poured a hazy golden color with extremely vigorous, long-lasting white foam with lots of Belgian lace. Highly aromatic: grain, whole-wheat bread, flowery hops, citrus, pepper, clove. Malt sweetness was neutralized by bittering and flavor hops, some wheat tartness, the citrus and pepper could be tasted as well. Light body, very effervescent mouthfeel, long dry finish. Very tasty, certainly one of the best in this style.
2.1look, im a huge fan of hefes/wits/wheats. its my fave style, and usually the cloudier the better, which is why american wheats are kinda meh in the tradition. but this stuff was like scary thick and cloudy. id almost like to find this on draft somewhere so there would be less sediment to deal with. as it was, i couldnt finish it. hope to try it again later. flavor wise, it was ok, but too tangy and a weird balance.
2.9A bit over carbonated...I think. A bit too bubbly and lacking a strong backing character to stand up to it. Good flavor, but not any overwhelmingly spectacular flavor, just a lot of mouthfeel
3.4draft at Lion’s Pride, Maine. deeper golden pour. sweet malts, cotton candy, lighter lemon pledge & orange marmalade in the aroma. Taste was tart & funky while candy sweet with the lemon pledge. Decent
3.6Clear gold with bright white head. orange and coriander aroma with a tiny bit of funk. The flavor is fairly well balanced with some dryness up front and a sweeter malt finish. Not sure why the other ratings were so low, it almost sounds like a different beer.
3.9Shocked not to see this rated higher. Draft at The Lion’s Pride. Pours a cloudy, deep gold color with a thin eggshell head that leaves thin lace in the glass. Aroma of hay, wheat, citrus, banana, dust, musty basement, and plenty of Belgian yeast character. Flavor of lemon citrus, wheat, more dusty, musty basement funk, pepper, coriander, and light banana. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a super dry mouthfeel. Really nice.
3.0light sour aroma, amber, hazy, minimal head, light sweetness, lightly sour, medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, long finish,I think the beer is a little of.
4.4wow! reticent (slightly watery compared to most wits on first taste) but amazing--definite notes of strawberry and ambrosia (;) as well as spice and clove, esters and gum present, finish is balanced and fantastic
2.7(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a blond and tall frothy head. Slightly dusty and sweet malty aroma with notes of biscuits, accompanied by notes of citrus and shades of coriander. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a prickly carbonation. Biscuity and slightly grainy malty taste with just a tinge of wheat and also rather shy fruity notes; sweet malty and slightly sour-fruity finish. Uncommon Wit. 09.VI.11
3.0Bottle, pours a hazy orange body with a thin off white head. Aromatically wheat dominance, citrus, lemon and orange peels. light spices bubble gum notes. A bit spicy but flavors quickly dive out leaving a hint of pine and spice. Pretty average for the style, i was hoping for some bizarre spices to change up the pace a bit.
3.4Poured into a snifter. Vuuve pours a cloudy, yellowish-orange with a pure with head on top that drops really quick, leaving almost no head at all. On the nose are aromas of citrus, yeast, spices, some bubble gum, and some sour notes. Sour flavors from the second it hit my tongue. Sour citrus with spices, like extremely mellow grapefruit juice with out the tang. Good use of fresh orange peel. Mouthfeel is nice, very mild carbonation, very smooth and refreshing, doesn’t stay on the palate too long, but enjoyable to drink nonetheless. Very drinkable, mostly a hot summer day for me, a nice easy drinking treat.
2.8Bottle from the back of the Proof fridge, aroma of rotting cabbage, We have no idea how old this is. Slight wheat aroma. Bit of citrus. Forgetable.
2.5transparent honey. Nose is either fierce mango or fruit punch gatorade, lots of sugar and light bread. Flavor is similar, really captures thin Gatorade body, light sugar and yeast in the finish.
2.3Tap at Max’s. Clear orange-yellow pour. Almost no head. Strong medicinal fruit aroma. Cherry cough syrup flavor. Almost like peptobismal. Bubble gum notes. Very sweet.
2.9Light honey malt nose, light floral hop notes. Taste is moderately sweet, very lightly bitter, some herbal hops, lots of toffee, lots of honey. Men.
3.211.2 oz bottle. Pored into a weizen glass and produce a ridiculous amount of head. No expiration date on the bottle, no telling how long it sat on the self. The head stayed the entire time, with light lacing. The standard Wit nose, orange peel, zest and coriander. A light mouthfeel with the standard Belgian Wit flavors, Is tis a good wit? Yes. Was it worth the price? No, you can find a Wit made in the states and spend less money but if you are overseas and can get this at a better price... do it!!
2.1Sorry this taste more like a sour beer than a belgian. Bitter like that of a cherry. Not enjoyable. Never to get again.
3.8Was an enjoyable Belgian. Nicely shaped bottle. Haha, and lots of skunky flavor.
3.8Bottle, 33 cl. Hazy yellow beer with nice medium head that lasts. Yeasts are swimming around in the glass. Aroma is light sour, some orange peel, citrus and coriander and very promising. Taste is very specific, with a mixture of malts with citrus, orange peel and a light sourness with some light sweetness (of the malts) all around . Some spices (coriander I presume) are also coming to the foreground further in the beer. There is also a strong yeasty background int he beer, which makes you think the beer is a lot more heavy than the 5% on the bottle. Not a typical Witbier, but a surprisingly good and subtle one. A pity they don’t make it anymore...
3.1Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy pale yellow color with a huge soapy yellow-white head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was tart and sour with notes of bread, must and lemon. The flavor was very tart and sour with strong lemon and a chalky undertone. The finish was long, tart, sour and lemony. Medium body. Ok.
3.5Hazy yellow with a fluffy white head. Bready orange and corriander aroma and taste with a thin palate and a bready finish.
