3.7 Restrained aroma in a dark brown pour. Rich boozy malt body and clean bitter finish makes this a decidedly more’ish brew. As one who lives in Wellington with friends who live in Auckland - I have to rate this one higher.
Metaalgeur waarneembaar. Voornamelijk in eerste instnatie zoetig, moutig en in de afdronk komt de bitterheid. Met name koffiesmaak en caramel.
3.4 Dark amber/brown color, light unclear aspect with creamy nut/beige head of long resistance. Sweet and roasted aroma, notes of caramel, braced caramel, dark bread, resin, dark berry. Moderate mellow and creamy mouth, much sweet impression, long alcoholic and caramel. final.
3.3 Pours a deep amber-brown color with off white head that settles off. Fruity maltiness with some light vinegar aromas
2.5 Beetje waterige afdronk
3.6 Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Label: Waterloo Double Dark 8%. Pours a slightly murky very dark brown colour with a thin off-white soapy looking head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, chocolate, yeast and a little sugar. Taste is similar with added hints of plum and caramel. Fairly light bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel and a sweetish fruity finish. Average dubbel but quite nice.
3.4 Heel donker bier. Zacht en soepel. Licht kruidig.
3.2 Clear Amber red colour with good head and lacing. Hop malt caramel aroma. Hop malt roast flavour. Smooth palate.
3.2 Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Beer in the glass light brown, small head. Fruity malty aroma. Starts malty and sweet, light hints of apple, more and more dry. Finish well balanced. Still dry malty. Okay.
3.0 The aroma of sugar, a little caramel. Dark brown, transparent with a small brown foam. On the palate has a taste of sugar, a little caramel and a very strong aftertaste of alcohol. Body average, carbonation average.
3.5 God og velsmagende Belgisk Strong Ale. Tilpas sødme og bitterhed. Indbydende aroma.
3.2 Tasting @ Koelschtrinker's place. Smooth and malty beginning. Easy to drink, not very deep. Malty caramel, very smooth and refreshing with a nice caramelly back. Deep and refershing and sessionable.
3.4 75cl bottle. A clear orange brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of dark caramelish malt, nuts, red fruits, nuts. Taste of caramelish dark malt, nuts, red fruits, raisins.
2.8 Trocken malziger Antrunk. Wenig bitter, süßlich, hefige Noten. Vollmundig, das Malz wird karamellig, rund. Gelungen. 10/7/9/9/8/9
3.4 330ml bottle from Beer King drunk at home on a cold January evening. Pours clear but almost opaque with a thick beige head that lasted well, heavy lacing and for a minute, plenty of rising carbonation. Deep rusty brown in colour. On the nose, some estery fig and raisin, brandy and caramel. In the mouth, medium carbonation, medium sweetness - but fairly low for the style, strong caramel malts, hints of herbs and spice, raisin, fig jam, medium texture, slight dry sourness, fairly high bitterness before a medium-length bitter finish. Overall, more like a Brown Ale, or a Wee Heavy, or even a Doppelbock, but rich and satisfying enough.
3.6 Bottle from de Caigny Dranken in Essen, Belgium. The beer is dark brown colored and has a large cream colored head, with good carbonation. The aroma is malty, with notes of sweet malts, caramel, yeast, dark (dried) fruits, licorice, chocolate and spices. The taste is medium bodied and starts sweet with roasted malts, caramel and fruits and goes to light bitter with chocolate, licorice, yeast and spices. The finish is long, light dry and pretty bitter.
Caramel, rozijntjes, mout, fudge. Beetje plakkerig. Niet slecht maar blijft medium biertje.
3.2 Bottle 33cl. Dark brown, little carbonation, bright off white top that fades pretty quickly. The aroma has malts, not very special though. The taste is flat with some touches of grain and malts. The aftertaste adds little; more grain touches. Not too special.
3.6 Bottle at a friends. Pours deep amber, nose is vanilla, caramel, toffee, taste is sweet, malty, raisin, floral.
4.3 Aromat to suszone owoce, rodzynki, estry.
