Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel

Our dark wheat beer is impressive with its creamy white foam. A fruity-fresh sweetness and hints of mature bananas harmonise with delicious flavours of roasted malt, sparkling and full-bodied with a light caramel taste on the first sip. An excellent accompaniment from hearty meals and game to chocolate and nut desserts. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

3.8 Bottle. Nose is roasted malt, earthy, emerging banana and cloves. Taste opens with roasted malts then has a light caramel leading to a rich sweet banana, clove with lots of bubblegum in a lightly spiced finish. Very nice.
3.9 Light , full of aroma
4.6 Our dark wheat beer is impressive with its creamy white foam.
3.4 50cl bottle from hopt.it, France. Pours hazy gold-brown, beautiful, with different layers, with fine whitish foam. Aroma is moderate yeasty/bananas, fruity. Body is average, with moderate carbonation. Taste is medium sweet. Final is actually short.
3.9 Bottle 0.5l from Dare to Drink different shop, The Netherlands. 23.12.2021. Pour it hazy amber color with medium white head. Aroma caramel, banana, some cinnamon and caramel. Taste banana, cinnamon, cookies, light pecan, caramel, thick and smooth, fully body, long aftr taste
4.0 Bottle online from The Trembling Madness. Pours a hazy caramel brown colour with a medium sized creamy off white head. Strong aroma of bananas, cloves, caramel, bubblegum and spice. Taste has more of the same notes with a fair amount of peppery spice on the finish. Thin to medium body with a fair amount of carbonation on the palate. Excellent Dunkel Weissbier and one of the best in its category.
4.2 Kolor ciemno bursztynowy, zamglony. Piana barwy ecru, bardzo wysoka i niesamowicie trwała. Zbudowana jest z drobnych pęcherzyków. Zdobienia pozostawia nieznaczne.
3.5 A European looking pour is cloudy to opaqueness with a fine light tan head. There are ample carbonation trails, but they are hard to find in the clouds. The color is essentially medium brown with a hint of gold. The nose is all weizen; bananas, yeast, and a bit of peach. The first sip is aggressive for a weizen with malt, banana, cloves and some sweetness. The taste evolves to stronger caramel and a tiny hint of smoke. Complex malt dominates the flavor profile with only hints of fruity bitterness. It ends clean and satisfying with caramel notes. In the mouth, it feels soft and modestly carbonated. This a nice dunkelweizen in the very European tradition.
3.1 Cerveja marrom cobre. Aroma doce, frutado, leve café e tostado. Sabor doce e frutado, leve café e malte tostado
4.0 Aroma of malt and wheat, malty, sweet, caramely, friuty flavor. Very good beer overall.
3.7 Pale amber reddish pour with a creamy white head and bands and lots of spots of lacing …. Aroma of banana, clove, wheat, caramel malts, roasted malts, light chocolate malt and spices …. Mouthfeel is soft and delicate and creamy … taste is of banana, clove, wheat, bready malts, chocolate and caramel malts with roasted malts and spices …. Wheat really makes this soft and delicate ….. creamy …. Delicious and the abv is hidden well … finish is sweet, creamy and of caramel malt, banana and spicy clove …: good balance on this brew …. Delicious, almost like having banana bread in a bottle
3.6 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a murky brown colour with small off white head, some retention. Aroma of banana, clove and caramel. Simple but has nice freshness and intensity to it. Taste has a sweetness with malt, caramel, bread, some chocolate. Fruity middle with banana, clove, some zest notes leading to a decent bitter finish to offset the sweetness. Light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Doesn't have the nice creaminess you can get from some weissbiers. Overall a good tasty dunkelweizen
Goed hoor!
3.6 500 ml bottle from Thirsty. Pours a nice copper with a one finger head; aroma of roasted malt, wheat, noble hops. Rich taste of roasted malts, esters, noble hops; medium sweet. High carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Very delicious.
3.6 Light malt smell with a touch of sweetness....taste is also malty with medium sweetness, good carbonation, bold flavor that has spices like an Octoberfest...very flavorful and dynamic...smooth finish...had at BJ's for lunch as delta varient continues to spread fast...~640,000 US deaths
3.6 Shared bottle at home. Pours hazy amber with off-white head. Aroma of bananas, caramel, dark bread. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium bodied.
4.0 Light brown cloudy with a thick, lasting tan head. Toasted banana bread and spicy aroma., a little funky. Creamy, sweet caramel flavor , full body with a slightly funky wheat beer finish. Excellent.
3.6 Very nice ripe banana aroma, with some berries and a little hop. It is a little prickly on the tongue with a typical taste of cloves, banana and some berries. Rich malty finish. OK.
3.5 500ml bottle from Village Grocer, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky dark amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is light yeasty banana, bread, earthy. The flavour is light sweet, with a grainy, light caramel, light smoky, light clove spice palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.6 28-05-2021; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their June 2021 discovery box). The beer looks very nice. The beer has a nice dark amber colour. It has that nice Weissbier haziness. On top of the beert there is a nice layer of thick frothy white foam. Foam retention is high and a thick drape is left on the beer. Looks nice! The beer has a nice aroma too. Malts are nice and bready, quite nice. Hops have some spicy notes, together with the slightest note of zest. Yeast is also very nice, giving those clear Weissbier aromas. There is nice orange zest, koriander, some spice. All in all, it is a very good Weissbier. The darker malts might give some caramel notes too, giving it some more body that the normal Weissbier. The beer has a nice taste. Nice sweet malts and some bitterness from the hops. There is a nice slight acidity in the back from the hops. Yeast is very smooth and brings some more sweetness, with a slight spicy toch. Not bad. The beer has a nice palate. Medium body, smooth texture, medium carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice too. Quite some nice malts and those typical Weissbier yeast aromas. Quite a nice Weissbier, not bad at all.
3.3 Flaska.
3.4 Bottled, 500ml from Waitrose in Banbury, Oxon. Amber to copper with beige head. One of those beers that you could have sworn that you had rated many years ago, glad I checked and picked it up. Sweet malty caramel along with the usual German Weisse beer suspects, estery banana, hint of clove, toffee biscuit. Reasonable depth, flavoursome, just not quite to my taste although Dunkelweizen's are more acceptable than the pales. Reasonable enough.
3.2 500 ml bottle. Smells of banana, toffee and caramel. Dark brown in color with plentiful carbonation bubbles. Sweet, tastes of banana, reminds me a bit of a cinnamon roll. Creamy mouthfeel, has a slightly sweet finish. Decent beer, but too sweet for my tastes. I would most likely appreciate it more with a slice of cake in the winter.
3.4 1 pint 0.9 ounce bottle. Light caramel cola appearance. Moderate carbonation. Pillowy off-white head. Earthy, biscuit, malted barley, grass and caramel aromatic notes. Creamy palate. Some subtle brown sugar and maple characteristics. Raisin toast, toffee bread and biscuit. Good malt foundation. Light enough to be sessionable. Clean and fresh water. Good creaminess saves it from a watered down taste. At only 5.3% a/bv it's nothing Earth-shattering. But beer purists should enjoy this solid effort from the German beer legends at Weihenstephan.
Aroma a malta, caramelo y levadura.
3.7 Clean, wheat beer aroma with a German yeast note. Slightly cloudy light copper brown color with a finely laced and foamy white head. The flavor is more subdued than I thought it would be for some reason. Bready and yeasty with a creamy mouthfeel. Some vanilla notes and a light woodiness in the background. Some fruitiness shows up mid-way through with light cherry and plum. Finishes with a lasting malted wheat flavor and light honeyed sweetness. Very refreshing and easy to drink. Happy German Beer Day 2021 everyone!
4.6 Dark brownish-colored beer. The foam is medium. Aroma is really bready, banana and wheat. Beautiful taste, really sweet, caramel, grainy. The mouthfeel is also very pleasant and long. Great beer receives only good mark from me.
3.7 Bottle. Cloudy brown pour, with a nice cream colored head. Banana, wheat, nutty malt, hefeweizen yeast, and notes of chocolate. Nice easy drinking beer.
4.2 Bought this fairly cheaply at local supermarket which was suprising. Loved their other beers and love this one.
3.8 50cl bottle from Prik&Tik Kampenhout. F: big, bit tan, creamy, long lasting. C: brown, hazy. A: malty, banana, bready, pear, bit yeasty, clove. T: medium malty base, banana, clove, bit spicy, dry on the palate, chocolate touch, medium carbonation, classic for the style, fully enjoyed.
