Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier

Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier

In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

3.3 Bottle.Clear golden colour with medium fluffy white head.Aroma is fruity with hint of wheat and yeast feels a bit gassy and spicy with mild finish.
3.8 Mild carbonation, mild sweetness
3.3 Pours a very clear golden color with sudsy white head. Sweet malty-wheats aroma and taste. Light spiced character. Notes: bottle from the brewery, opened Jun ‘21
3.7 Bottle drunk at a restaurant in Südtirol waiting for some ribs, and possibly with them depending how fast their cook is. Last Kristallweizen I drank must have been 20 years ago in Richmond. Unsurprisingly it's crystal clear, yellow straw, with a big head but not so long lasting. Nose is pretty sedate compared to a normal Weißbier, but similar clove and banana hints. Nice sweetness on the tongue but with less of that creamy yeasty body. Very good balance with a hint of earthy hops in the aftertaste. More filling than a Helles, probably why this didn't catch on, most would take the lighter feeling Helles or a fuller tasting Weißbier. Its premise is like trying to persuade a lesbian to switch teams.
3.7 50 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Kulenborgse Bierhandel, Culemborg. Clear golden with a big white head. Banana and cloves aroma with a wheat touch. Sweet taste with a banana finish. Smooth and creamy kristallweizen.
3.9 Old rating from 12-12-14 - 500ml bottle, pours amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of bananas, peaches, cloves, grain & malt. Medium body. Clean finish with hints of spice in aftertaste
3.4 Champagne appearance. Carbonated white grape juice. Tiny bubbles rise to meet a sudsy white rim. Aroma is huge, banana, clove and citrus zest. Mouthfeel a touch thin. Clean water. Hints of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice. Earthy, malted cereal barley. Peppery, tasty banana flavor. Dry finish. Hops take a back seat. A clean, clear beer. Refreshing, respectable, time-honored and thirst-quenching. Deserving of its high reputation.
4.1 Taste: refreshingly crisp and airy, wheat crackers, slight hint of citrus lemon, balanced clean finish. Same with the nose. Bright golden hue, crystal clear, with tall white foam and sticky lace. Medium/light body. Super crisp and yet smooth and refined.
4.3 很輕盈,很乾爽。典型味道。
3.3 Very interesting. I never had a clear, filtered Weissbier before. It poured like it was off a tap, instead of a bottle. Frothy head that gave a pleasant nose. Crisp and refreshing. It went well with Aldi crackers and Gouda cheese. Cheers!
3.5 500 ml bottle. Smells of banana with a hint of herbs. Light yellow and crystal clear. Tastes of banana and wheat. Pleasant sweet finish with a hint of banana. Smooth weissbier, quite nice.
2.8 500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Shared with Finn. Solid white head over a bright straw coloured body, upper part lacing on the glass. Mild wheaty nose, mid-sweet, lightly spiced. The taste profile has got hints of spies, ripe banana and wheat. Ends mid-sweet wheaty. Fair enough. (Bergstua, Malangen 28.10.2020).
2.9 Spandert av Rune. Delt på Bergstua. Veldig lys gylden. Klart. Middels høyt skum som blir film. Bananaroma. Smaken hvete & banan. Vel søt. Lett tørr avslutning.
3.2 500ml bottle, 5.4% ABV AROMA: Mild scents of banana and lemon. APPEARANCE: Pours a clear, straw-gold with a tall, tight, white head that dissipates slowly with minimum lacing. TASTE: A moderate amount of banana on the front end, then it fades away, and finally, it comes back again on the finish. Letting the beer rest on the tongue, and slightly warm, results in the discovery of other flavors such as, pear, lemon, and just a hint of spice, MOUTHFEEL: Thin-bodied and a bit on the dry side. The carbonation level is slightly above average. Finish is short with a slight astringent "tang". OVERALL: I've enjoyed many other beers from this brewer and will enjoy many more in the future. While I like this beer, I can't say that I'm excited by it, nor will I remember it. It's a perfectly fine beer, that I'm perfectly happy drinking now, and would be perfectly happy to drink in the future. Basically, it's a quality beer with a nice flavor that is easy to drink. Unfortunately, it has no "remember me" aspects. Which is a shame because I could see myself sipping on a few of these at an outdoor cafe while I relaxed and people-watched.
2.5 0,5 liter bottle. I had high expectations as I like most beers of the Weihenstephan brewery. Unfortunally, this one is not the one for me. Drinkable? Yes! Exceptional? Nope...
3.0 Aroma; wheat syrup, coriander, clove, banana, sweet caramel, bun n bread dough, malts. Look; off white dense head on crystal clear pale golden body. Taste; wheat malts, coriander, clove, banana, herbal caramel, wheatened hops, peppery cinnamon, and finishes sweet doughy. Feel; normal body n fine co². Overall; it`s just alright, somewhat too spicy in a long run. [one 50cl bottle b@one of the nordic Alcomonopolies, and t@apartment of PivotekaH7]
3.8 Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a clear golden colour with a large thick creamy white head. Nice looking beer. Strong aromas of bananas and cloves, coriander, bubblegum, pears and a little spice. Taste had the same notes again as the aroma more upfront bananas and cloves. Light to medium bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel and just a little peppery spice on the finish. Overall it’s a nice flavoury beer.
3.7 Pale gold, visible carbonation, big but short lived head. Aroma has some banana and cloves, but also a hint of citrus present in the taste as well. Nice, but wouldn’t be my first choice from the brewery.
3.4 500ml bottle purchased from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Light yellow, clear with loads of visible carbonation and a sizeable white head. Classic hefe aroma but dialled back a few notches: a touch of banana, citrus peel, yeast roll, sweet spice. Taste is sweet and light, with gentle and slightly astringent hop in the back of the tongue. Short finish, with a watery body and heavy carbonation. It's good, but suffers from comparison.
3.0 Bottle 500 ml. Straw-golden, clear, huge foam. Aroma: spicy, cloves, wheat, a little sweetness. Taste: clean, wheat, a little cloves and banana, a light sweetness, soft.
3.3 A lot less mouthfeel than the Hefeweizen. However the fruitiness seems more pronounced in this version. Also finishes a little drier. I prefer the Hefeweizen though.
4.1 Found out of bottle. Pours a near clear yellow with medium but light foam. Nice wheat aroma. Very refreshing and a great Summer beer.
3.5 Odore sinceramente sgradevole,ottimo sapore,metà fra Weiss e hell
5.0 The Impossible
3.5 500ml bottle brewed in Germany at 5.4%. Clear golden colour with hints of greenish patina. Good sized and duration head. Moderate carbonation at most. Aroma of sweetcorn and wheat. Flavour follows the aroma, some grassy hop but also sweetcorn, very Helles-y, but then the creamy rusky wheat malt kicks in in the finish to prove this is a Weissbier. A hint of the banana flavour still lingers after filtration, too. If you want a Weissbier that nicely splits the difference between that style and a Helles, this is your pick, as it's obviously premium brewing from the taste, but I can't say this is quite the sort of flavour profile I pick up a Weissbier for. Noticeably lacks the citrus hopping that made their Hefe stand out - so not just a filtered version. Decent, but definitely a case of horses for courses - if this sounds like your thing then it will probably be a winner, as Weihenstephaner's reputation for good brewing isn't a case of smoke without fire. Even for me who this isn't really aimed it (I usually eschew sweetcorn notes and like my Weissbier yeasty as all getout), it was a nice little creamy refresher - good morning tipple.
3.0 Tasted like it needed to mature more.
4.5 Clear golden with a frothy head. Wheaty smell. Wheaty taste with a decent bitterness, little acidity and a clove note. Medium carbonation. This is only the third Kristallweizen I ever tasted in my life. Having been disappointed by the two first I wasn't expecting much of this one, but in the end it's a very fine beer.
