3.5 At the brewery. Clear brown red beer. Lovely nutty malty dunkel not heavy at all. Walnuts. Really good. Goes with the pork shank so well. Rather a satisfying beer without being too heavy
3.7 Tap at the brewery. Brown with orange. Nutty chocolate nose, caramel, bread. Rich bready malt flavor with great chocolate, nutty, earthy, herbal hops. Well balanced and luscious.
3.2 50cl bottle shared with Kermis. Thin creamy beige head. Clear amber pour. Easy drinking.
3.3 Bottle. Clear deep brown with a dense pale beige head. Rich sticky bread crust aroma with light herbal notes, slight cardboard. Medium bodied. Only a little sweet with a touch of dried fruit as well as sticky bread crust before balancing spiced bitterness. Not, bad, could be fresher.
3.6 Red-brown with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma. Taste is rich malts, not too sweet, with an idea of coffee. Intense, but very drinkable. Good.
3.3 Appearance: Dark brown, some light tan head. Aroma: Malt, brown sugar, toasted. Sweet. Taste: Medium malt, brown sugar, toasted. A bit too sweet. Bought: Wittich, 500 ml, CHF 2.40 Info: 25/1-2019, BB: 14/5-2019
3.9 Dark Brown somewhat reddish with white small head, Not very stable. Aroma is full of bread, malt, caramel, little roast. Full bodied, malty like liquid bread. Typical Dunkel, very good one
3.1 Bottle. Clear golden color with tan head. Aroma is chocolate, a bit sugary, malty, a touch roasted. Taste is chocolate, earthy, a bit brown sugar again. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Too sweet for me.
3.4 Flasche 0,5l: Dunkles Mahagoni, klar, kräftiger stabiler feinporiger Schaum; frische + würzige Nase, dunkle Fruchtigkeit, Röstaromen, Röstmalz, Getreide, dunkles Karamell, leichte Hopfennoten; würziger + frischer Körper, leichte fruchtige Säure, kräftige Röstaromen, Röstmalz, Getreide, dunkles Karamell, cremig, kräftige Kohlensäure, Hopfen, würzig-fruchtige Bitterkeit; angenehmer fruchtig-würziger Nachgang mit deutlichen Röstaromen
3.7 0.5l bottle in a bavarian beer set from marktkauf. pours a clear chestnut with a big frothy beige head. aroma of toasted malts, leaves, caramelized milk. flavour of toffee, leaves, rye bread, umami. medium body, definitely not watery. a very nice dunkel.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a fluffy white head, the aroma is light, the taste is medium bitterness with a dry bitter finish.
5.0 080417. This is possibly the best German beer that I have had and it deserves high praise indeed. A rare find at the new Malt Traders at Southbank I enjoyed this bottle while people watching. The beer looks great when poured into a glass and has a deep toffee colour and a large fluffy head of sweet smelling foam. It would be a shame if you drank this beer straight from the bottle as it deserves to be poured into a glass. The aroma is full on malt with a sweetness thrown into the mix. Like the aroma the flavour is malt heavy and fills the mouth with a wonderful toffee and vanilla flavour. The finish is like everything else about the beer - very good.
3.6 Klares rötliches Bernstein mit reichlich Schaum. Malzig, Röstaromen, Karamell, Vanille, nussig, sehr süffig.
3.5 Dark ruby with fast vanishing head. Aroma is lots of nuts, some roast, maybe raisins and some syrup. Taste is good malty sweetness with a too crispy and unsmooth sourness, quite much umami, medium roast bitterness. Nice drinkability without being too easy. Full body, medium finish. Nice, despite the unsmoothness.
3.6 Light chestnut. Puffy, sticky white foam. Enticing aroma of anise, almond, hazelnut, earth and toffee. Relaxed carbonation. Complexly malty on initital sip, with a medley of toffee-glazed nuts, rich hay, honeyed biscuits and creamed coffee. Big Munich punch. Immaculately clean attenuation enables the luscious, artfully placed flowery Hallertau to flourish and pillar the center. Finishes sassy and airy, with minerals paving the way for a flavorsome fusion of nutty, creamed coffee malt and a spicy-floral punch of hops. A clean and lovely dunkel that weaves subtlety with complexity.
3.4 ASPETTO: marrone abbastanza scuro, limpido. Schiuma marroncino chiarissimo, fine, abbondante e non molto persistente. AROMA: maltato e frutta secca predominanti.
4.0 Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Piwo maladna barwe rubinowo brazowa, spora i trwala piane, przypominajaca te z Ciemnych kozlakow. Aromat orzechowy. W smaku orzechy laskowe, suszone winogrona i sliwki, troche karmelu. Dobre.
4.3 clear dark red-brown with a fine head. nice, strong malt aroma with some roasty notes. very well-balanced taste. great long finish. not my favourite type of beer. but this one is the best munich dunkel i have had. and i had a few of the top 50 beer of this type.
4.1 0,5l Flasche. Tolle Bernsteinfarbe mit festem hellbeigem Schaum. Röstmalz und Toffee in der Nase. Geschmack weiches Röstmalz, Vanille und Toffee. Langer Abgang. Sehr schön rundes Bier. Earlier Rating: 10/11/2015 Total Score: 3 Vom Fass im Brauhaus. Schwarze Farbe, kaum Schaum. Frischer malziger Duft. Leicht süß. Kaffe, dunkles Brot.
Lecker!
3.7 A hearty roasted malt aroma greets the nose. Pours red-brown into the bottle, and leaves a bubbly head that rapidly fades away. Moderate carbonation, pleasantly bitter, smooth, and yet robust with faint caramel aftertastes. Very pleasant sipping.
3.3 Flasche. Wunderbares dunkles Bier mit kräftigen Röstmalzaroma, leichte Bittere, kaum süßlich.
3.1 Sehr dunkle Farbe, Schaum ok, leichte röst Aromen sehr süffig, ordentliches Bier
3.8 Pours a filtered hazelnut brown color, with a huge, spongy head, from which big bubbles emerge. Smells of whole grain bread, with a toasty note to it, topped of by copper and wood bark. The nose got a restraint toffee sweetness to it, complimenting the rich dark malts perfectly. Has a very soft mouthfeel with medium carbonation, revealing a bubbly quality during the finish. Tastes mirrors the nose to a certain degree, the profound malts draw most of the attention, with a mild acidity adding to its depth. Its pleasant sour note evolves to a toffee peak during the finish, evoking the image of caramelized grapes being dipped into bakers chocolate. A leafy quality, as well as a mineralic carbonation diversify this impression, while the beer remains expectedly well balanced as expected. Well made Dunkel, which got a nice twist to it, while integrating a pleasant depth.
4.2 Bottle in glass at Guthega Inn. The perfect dark beer to go with Goulash or a homemade sausage and sauerkraut. Full flavoured, well rounded. Those monks know what they are doing!
3.7 -sweet malt, plums, raisins, dates,Syrup flavour -licorish -well carbonated -sweet,watery,bready finish Good Dunkel, the weltenburger blows the shit out of it though
3.8 Deep red-brown. Toffee and a little cocoa on the nose, body is toasty caramel with earthy hops and a red fruit tang. Excellent.
3.0 Bottle at St Clara Bierhaus, Stockholm. Clear brown with a large head. Quite sweet with caramel, bread, some hints roasted malt and nuts. The body was medium and the bitterness low. An ok one.
