3.5 Bottle 500ml. w. swing top @ home. [ As Weißenoher Eucharius Märzen ]. Clear medium brown amber color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, dusty malt, light grain and hay. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dusty malt, nutty, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Good food beer ;D [20150321]
3.6 Pours a clear deep golden brown with a tan head. The smell is toasted malt, caramel, brown sugar, fruit. The taste is fruit, caramel, brown sugar ending dry and crisp. The body is light/medium with fine, tight carbonation. Pretty good stuff.
3.8 50cl fliptop bb09/2015 from Getränkecenter Schwabing. Earthy copper pour, rustic rust. Nose of toast, salt toffee, roast potatoes and baked banana. Savoury in taste as well, combing subtle buttered toast and fruity caramels (apple pie crust) on an earthy-dry palate. Nice fresh grassy hop zing current running on top of that, adding even more savouriness and a bitter walnut finish. Pretty light bodied and just a tad unbalanced maybe - but plenty of character to be had from this beer, and this brewery in general - one of those that seem harder to come by in Upper Bavaria than in Italian or US craft bars these days.
3.3 Purchased this as Weissenohe Monk’s Fest, 1 pint 9 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy, dim amber, with a light-tan head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is sweet with hints of orange and caramel. It has a medium body that is very smooth. Taste is sweet with flavors of caramel and bread. Overall, not too bad, but I am finding that the more I drink the more sweet and "sticky" it becomes on the palate. I’m not sure that I would want to drink more than one of these at a time.
3.4 on tap at BierStube in Philadelphia; clear amber color; nutty caramel malt aroma; smooth, nutty, slightly fruity malt flavor with caramel malt notes; well balanced
2.7 Bottle. Light amber, small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some bread and fain hoppynes. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, light caramel and some bread, faint hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light bread with light hoppyness. Sweetish märzen with bread – too sweet.
2.8 Pours orange with ok head and lacing. Good drinkability with some light barley aroma. Tap at Churchkey.
3.4 Pours a clear amber with a thick white head. Aroma has light roastiness, dry leaves, and a very faint chocolate hint that is fleeting. Flavor has dry leaves and roasty malts...bready...still the faintest hint of fleeting chocolate...Some earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with a dry earthy/dry leaves finish. Really pretty tasty.
3.4 nice marzen. distinctly German. Bread, toast, caramel. yeasty in the back end. sweet, but not overly so. crisp, sharp, and very refreshing. well done."
3.8 Tap. Tawny copper clear hue. Bready, doughy, slightly sweet toffee aroma, and slight spice of all things. Slightly toffee, leaves, earth, grass, toffee again but dry. Medium slick body. This is a real fucking Oktoberfest.
3.5 The color’s deep caramel brown, with a touch of golden tone; ample tan foam, dissipating after a few minutes. Smells caramel-y sweet with a touch of fruit, sugar cookie dough. Nice caramel flavor with a touch of roasty bitterness, nice medium mouthfeel with somewhat bready, also somewhat creamy character. Really yummy, has character still easily drinkable. Cheers.
3.2 (swing top bottle) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Slightly earthy, molassy and toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel. Sweet and delicately bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a smooth carbonation. Mildly toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, shades of chestnuts, molasses and a tinge of drying spicy hops; malt accented, slightly toasted finish with present notes of caramel and shades of herbal hops. Not bad, has something of a diluted dark Bock. 29.IV.14
3.5 Pours out of the bottle in a hazy amber colour with steady head and medium body. Aroma of straw and grains. Taste of hops, straw, grains, bread, flowers and herbs. Nice and smooth to drink with being refreshing and quaffable.
2.8 On tap at The Dirty Truth in Northampton. Pours a pale golden with very little white head. Very bland and non-descript. Not great. Shouldn’t have ordered this one...
3.3 Beers of Germany (The Craft Beer Social - PA Chapter #1) Social Aroma - the aroma was very honeyed with a little malt on the end Appearance - the body is a rich amber, the liquid clean, 1/2" head ~ that eventually rings out Taste - the taste is primarily honey sweetened malt Palate - body is light; texture is somewhat sticky; carbonation is average; finish is smooth and sweet
3.2 Bottle from the Old German Schnitzel Haus in Hickory, NC. Sweet toasty caramel malts. Nutty. Little chocolate. 6.4
3.0 Nice is traditional Marzen with sweet bready malts and a sessionable profile.
2.2 Aroma: Bready, but old and somewhat stale. A little caramel, too, and a little metal. Lightly fruity, with an apple tinge. Appearance: Bubbly copper pour with an off-white head that dissipates completely. Flavor: Bread becomes more toasty; there is an underlying herbal presence not immediately detected in the nose. Caramel-glazed all around. Lingers with some bitterness toward the finish. Palate: Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. Overall: Not a particularly pleasing example of the style for me. Just aiight.
3.0 Blah. Avg pour & ok aroma. The taste is dominated by malt but not really flavorful. I’m not really a fan. Ok at best.
2.9 Copper colour, large head. Distinticve flavour of malt and burnt/roasted malt with a tiny touch of vegetables.
3.6 On gravity cask at Spuyten’s Oktoberfest. Pours a hazed orange amber with a medium sized white head. Caramel and grain, soft grain. Medium, sweet and spicy, light alcohol, warm and smooth, chewy malt. Long malt, light alcohol, little bitterness.
3.3 Draft at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Pours an amber-orange into my snifter. Medium orange-hued head. Aroma of caramel, sweet breads, toffee and ripened fruits. Taste is similar with sweet fruits, caramel and a bread presence. medium body, but light to drink. Full of flavor. Smooth finish.
3.2 (bottle) pours a clear amber-ruby colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of roasted grain, freshly baked bread and grass, with a light hint of honey and banana skins. flavour is mostly roasted malts and milk chocolate, quite grainy, with notes of yeast and bread crusts. medium-bodied with average carbonation.
3.7 Bottle, pours deep amber with a big pale brown head. Toast & marmalade and a touch of demerara on the nose. A bitter edge heralds toffee and more marmalade, and an almost syrupy texture turns out dry and peppery, with caramel and spice notes. Excellent stuff!
3.8 Dunkles Bernstein, leicht trüb mit üppigem beigen Schaum. Würzmalziges Aroma mit Karamell und leicht röstig. Vollmundiger, malzdominanter Antrunk. Karamell, Brot, Nüsse, Butterstreusel, dazu aber auch angenehm zartbitter mit feiner Holznote. Spitzen-Märzen!
3.4 Draft at Monks Cafe in Philly. Billed as Weissenohe Monk’s Fest. Deep clear amber with a nice fizzy/foamy head. Classic Marzen flavors. Fuller body than most. Not overly sweet. Good stuff.
2.9 Draft @ The Louisville Beer Store. Strong buttered popcorn aroma. Hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Vegetal caramel malt and subtle grassy flavor. Light body, soft carbonation.
