3.4Can into IPA glass. Pours a clear copper colour with off white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is malty and earthy from the hops. Taste is pleasantly bitter with enough malt to back it up. Good beer.-- rated via 'Find A Beer' for Blackberry 10
2.5Approach it as an IPA -- as is suggested on the bloody can -- & this beer is a watery disaster. Take it as a bitter & it is just another muddy bitter. Mrs Tiki picked me up a can of this (bless her little French Canadian heart) knowing I’m an IPA hop hound. Pours pub table brown with a thin white cap. Can was pulled from the snow on the back deck so this is icy & the cold accentuates just how watery this is. Pretty meh all around but it’s ok after a long week at the education factory.
(Rating #5834)
2.4I may be a little biased by all the delicious APAs I enjoy, but this stuff is pretty boring. Also, how in the hell can something be called an IPA and classified (probably rightly) as a bitter?
"Notably dry" says the description above. This beer’s about as dry as Seattle in November.
Smells like grain and caramel. Tastes like grain and caramel. Granted, there is an ambiguous hint of dryness to the finish, but clearly Wells and Youngs has a different definition of "notably" than I do. This stuff isn’t putrid, but when I can find 100 better IPAs at the same price point, why would I bother?
2.5Pours a rich dark toffee brown colour with a finger or so of white head that quickly dissipates. The aromas are malt, caramel, toffee and yeast. The flavors are biscuit, malt, toffee and yeast. This one seemed more like an English Bitter than an IPA. I detected no hops, only malt and grain flavours.
2.8Scent of malt, hops, and fresh cut grass. Clear amber colour. Flavour of biscuit and lightly roasted malt. Medium in carbonation and body. I’m a bit disappointed in absence of hops suggested by the name; average beer.
2.7500ml can into English pint. Pours a kinda ugly brownish-amber with a thick, frothy white head which quickly dissipates. Caramel and malty nose, sweet flavour, medium bodied. Not a whole lot to it.
2.9Amber pour with a frothy white head and clinging lace. Sweet malt aroma. Sweet malt, slightly hopped flavour with a sweet smooth texture.
1.9Is this really an IPA? Pours a dark caramel with no distinguishable head. Caramell aromas. No hops. The taste is quite sweet, but the lack of hops is very dominant. I don't know how this can be considered an IPA. Not a bad beer overall, but certainly not what I was expecting based on the label.
2.8Clear, reddish amber like colour. Muted aroma but there is some floral hops and light malty notes in there as well. On the palate expect a bland beer with muted flavours and a hint of roast or some biscuit like bitterness. wouldn’t be able to finish a pint of this stuff.
2.4Aroma :bland aromas, nothing worth noting
Taste: basic bitter notes with some bland maltiness
Appearance :clear dark gold body with thin poorly retained head.
3.3The Wells and Young website says this IPA is their leading export into Canada. Light clear amber in colour. Minimal head with very active carbonation that died out quickly. Left no head or lacing shortly after the pour.
NIce flavour, a hint of bitters, minimal after taste.
1.9Bottle @ Dean’s Birthday tasting, courtesy of worldbeertaste. So I have big problems with this beer. Brewer clearly states this is an IPA, but it’s not. It pours a clear amber beer with a thin white head on top. Aroma of caramel, wett grass and virtually no hops. Flavor has nothing to do with an IPA whatsoever, it’s really sweet and watery. Quite bad beer, could have gotten more points if it was labeled differently.
3.0Bottle at Dean’s Birthday Tasting, August 2013. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is weak malt leading to a weak bitter flavour with a malty metallic palate. An average bitter. Tastes better in bottles.
2.6Deep copper with a white, lasting, light white head. Smells of earthy hops, grass, and caramel malt. Medium frothy, light body. Tastes of earthy hops, grass, dark malt, and a bitter finish. Nothing IPA about it. It still a decent beer even if its not really a bitter either.
1.9Bottle shared at Dean’s birthday tasting thanks to Worldbeertaste. Pours clear brown with a tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel. Flavour is light sweet and bitter. Watery and lacking. Light bodied with soft carbonation.
2.1Can. Pours clear copper. Aroma is skunky, hay, earthy. Taste is watery. Slightly sweet. Light body medium carbonation.

Thin white head. Clear golden pour. A hint of hops. Not even a bitter. Needs a lot more hops!
2.5Couleur jaune avec une petite tête blanche. Il ya un léger arôme de houblon et de malt et les deux sont dans le goût aussi. Une IPA très doux.
2.6can. pours clear golden orange witha decent off-white head, some retention. lightly toasted malts, caramel, some biscuity malts, nuts, grass, herbal and earthy hops. average to soft carbonation - smooth and creamy, light body - oily, bland but decent grassy finish. dry and balanced. certainly not a modern ipa, maybe a mild bitter. not horrid but still.. DP.
2.1500 ml. can. Aroma is nothing special- almost that of a strong lager. Had to laugh at the fact that this is considered an IPA. Absolutely nothing about this beer constitutes what an IPA really is. The English often have a misconception that IPA is synonymous ONLY with "bitter." Not even a decent amount of hops, however, some Barley malt is evident. Has a dry aftertaste which seems to be the only thing enjoyable about this "IPA". Drinkable, but certainly not great.
1.9Fine dark yellow-brown body with a large bright beige head on top. Weak non-alchoholic beer aroma that is certainly unappealing. Flavour is weak water with a hint of hops... seriously? This is like a non-alcoholized IPA mixed with a huge helping of water. How does this register as a beer, let alone an IPA? Lose, lose, lose. Boo!
3.8Nice that its not an American style IPA. To many beers have been over hopped. This beer is not one of those. Nice malts. Great sweetness on the back end. Light white head. Amber colour. Smooth and light with a little carbonation. Good barrel beer.
2.8Wells IPA 5% 500 ml can. Clear medium copper, small foamy off white head. Muted aroma of sweet malt and grass. Thin sweet malt taste, lightly bitter, mineral wateriness. Soft carbonation, light body, low hopped. Finishes dry. An inoffensive sessionable bland boring English bitter. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
3.5500ml can. Smooth pub brew --- more like an English bitter than my conception of an IPA. Restrained but well-executed with a nice, subtle malt background and a long, easy, dry bitterness. I liked it and am a little surprised to see how poorly others have rated it.
3.0(can) clear amber colour with a tall white head; aroma of noble hops; balanced simple flavour - not much different from a better pale lager
2.2Beer has not much taste. Drinks like water. Not much special this beer. Not much more to say.
1.5A pretty crappy IPA. No carbination, No head, and bareley any lacing. Overall a pretty junk brew. Waste of time IMO. Thanks wells!
3.0500ml can. Pours a clear, gold-ruby colour with adequate head and good lacing. Not a scent though. Taste is (obviously not American IPA) subdued and rather dull and watery. Still, refreshing and crisp. Good mouthfeel. Clean. It actually does have a mineral water taste - a metallic tang that slakes the thirst rather well! Pretty balanced. Just boring for the most part.
