Dark brown body with a thick tan head. Aroma is dark rye bread, earth, barn, molasses, and caramel. Taste is plum, licorice, mild caramel sweet, almost dark chocolate, and hay. Delicious. Texture is softer.
Bottle. StarmoreBoss Sheffield. 7.3%. Deep copper colour. Head is colour of crème brûlée. Nose has burnt caramel. Whiff of smoke. Well buttered well toasted granary bread. Ripened dark vine fruit. Taste is fully sweet and vinous. Rich and creamy mouthfeel. Foamy carbonation. Burnt caramel bitterness to finish. Mighty tasty.

The looks of the beer are nice. It is a dark brew. The colour is a nice dark coppery colour. On top of the beer there is nice beige colored foam. Foam retention is average. A nice drape remains.
The aroma of the beer is nice. Malts give some nice aromas of caramel and toffee. There is some raisin in there too, plum and tobacco. Nice warming mollasis syrup. Hops give nice spicy and herbal aromas. Yeast gives some notes of banana and spice. It is quite an aromatic beer. Especially the rich malt aromas are nice.
The taste is nice. Sweet malts and alcohol, bitter hops and a minimal acidity in the back. Pretty nice!
The mouthfeel of the beer is also nice. Medium body, smooth texture and nice medium-low carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice too. It has a pretty nice caramel and toffee malt aroma and nice licorice notes. All in all, it is a very nice beer. Good one.
Je ne me souviens plus très bien des détails mais j'ai apprécié cette bière, comme bien souvent avec les allemandes et plus particulièrement les bavaroises.

Hard to tell the exact colour as it was poured on mug, but while pouring it looked dark red to light brown; i guess this would look a dense/dark brown in the glass. The nicely compact off-white head shows quite good retention and nice lacing. A wonderfully delicate/soft, but still rather intense aroma: super soft nutty, caramelish and slightly chocolateish base (sweet chocolate), with a light reminiscence of coffee/coffe grains. Some quite strong per style dark fruit notes follow the malty base, in the likes of dried fruit, with blackcurrant most noticeable. All among a nice warming feel that feels quite surprising for the not too high abv. Taste notes follow the aroma closely, again with excellent definition and complexity, plus maybe a light spicy hint. It's a very sweet beer, possibly a tad over my ideal liking, but the sweetness is nicely cut by the warming feel and by a decently dry finish and aftertaste. The beer feels overall in good balance. Medium to dense bodied, with light to medium, delicate carbonation, resulting in a nice half smooth/half soft, full mouthfeel. Despite the not too high abv, even per style, this beer feels pleasantly full and complex, while retaining excellent drinkability. A masterpiece.
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a dark reddish brown with small beige head. Aroma of light roast malt, blackcurrant, chocolate, treacle. Taste is sweet with notes of treacle, tart berries, coffee, caramel, moderate bitterness in the finish. Smooth medium to smooth body.
Lovely moreish beer.
Color marrón oscuro con espuma medio-alta beige de retención y residuo medios. Aroma a malta tostada, caramelo y madera con notas a minerales y especias. Sabor a caramelo, madera y minerales con notas a pan tostado, especias, frutas oscuras y frutos secos (almendra, avellana). Dulzor medio, alcohol medio-alto y amargor medio-ligero con regusto medio. Textura oleosa, cuerpo y carbonatación medios.
Ausgesprochen leckerer Dessert-Bock. Schön malzig im Trunk, röstig, Schokolade, Lebkuchen, Lakritz, sackt gut nach fetten Essen.
Color tonaca di frate con riflessi rubini, versa tre dita di schiuma abbondante e compatta. Aroma di crosta di pane, frutti scuri, malto tostato e spezie. In bocca sentori di caramello, malto tostato, crosta di pane frutti scuri e spezie. Retrogusto leggermente luppolato e speziato. Complessa e ben bilanciata.

Bizcocho de nueces, pasas, chocolate, caramelo tostado: dulce y con cierto regusto a tostado y amargo.

Color marrón muy oscuro, casi negro, con reflejos rojizos, casi opaca. Espuma beige de dos dedos de espesor y media retención. Aroma medio, maltas tostadas, frutos secos, higos, uvas pasas, pan negro y notas de caramelo. Sabor medio intenso, maltas tostadas, uvas pasas, un tanto "frescas", "jóvenes", higos, pan negro, nueces y caramelo, final medio, dulzor maltoso y un punto de amargor tostado, alcohol imperceptible. Textura acuosa y un punto oleosa. Carbonatación media baja baja.
Qué fácil es gozar una Bock tan bien hecha. Sí por alguna extraña razón en verano te cansas de las NEIPAs no dudes en atacar a una de estas.
0,5l from local store, drinking it on 7/08/2021 BB 26.10.2021 pours very dark brown not completely hazy, still slightly clear with nice medium lenght, regular beige foam on top, ok lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, nuts, chocolate, molasses and raisins (grapes). Taste is sweet, round and rich with good roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, raisins, licorice, nuts some spiced chocolate and plums, a touch of bitterness and earthy hops in the finish, kind of hoppy and woody note too. Good alcohol presence and quite boozy at 6.9% abv that's well spread in taste and makes it even better. Medium to full body, nice smooth mouthfeel slightly oily texture and moderate carbonation. This one is seriously great, will have again and try it on tap for sure.
500ml bottle from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Mahogany, translucent with a ring of beige head. Dates, fruit caramels and a little touch of smoke in the warming aroma. Sweet, sweet taste with strong toffee, with a bitterness in the long finish. Medium carbonation. Delicious and moreish, everything I expected and more from one of my favourite styles.
50 cl bottle poured into a Dimpled mug. Dark amber colour with a thin lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, over ripe fruits, chocolate, toasted bread and a grassy bitterness. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body. Slightly drying fruity finish with caramel malts and fruits. Lovely Bock.

Net als het klooster ziet het bier er schitterend uit. De geuren en smaken zijn vooral subtiel. Licht geroosterd, lichte koffie. Romig mondgevoel. Je proeft de traditie door het bier heen.
2018 bottle at a share. Pours dark brown, with a big, frothy, beige head. The nose is mild cacao, a touch of peat smoke, brown sugar, and caramel. Sweet and malty, with a light bitterness. Medium body, with a syrupy, sharp palate. This is a mellow and quality bock.

Aroma: roasted malts, bread, caramel, light chocolate, dark fruits - raisin and figs Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, rich, roast, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, raisin, fig, dates, hints of coffee and licorice. How similar this Doppelbock is to the one from Andechser. Caramel and chestnut in the smell. The first impression is of sweet roast malt. It has more body than Andechser, with some unexpected spiciness. Minor grassy hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Good.
The abv is actually 7.3%. another fantastic doppelbock. Dark and malty. Sweet with A little sweetness. Low to medium mouthfeel. Great beer.
bottle 50 cl, poured into a tulip glass. Pours a very dark opaquish brown with a small to tiny white head and an aroma of candy sugar, sweet malts, cocoa, toffee, cashews and plums. The taste is medium sweet with a velvetty mouthfeel, a medium body and a medium lasting sweet finidh
Butelka. Ciemny mahoniowy kolor z rubinowym refleksem. Piana brązowa, wysoka, opada powoli zdobiąc szkło. W aromacie słód, ciemny cukier, susz owocowy. W smaku ponownie słodkie suszone owoce :daktyle, rodzynki, figi. Słód, karmel, palony brązowy cukier, delikatne nuty pieczywa razowego lub skórek chlebowych. Wysycenie małe, lekko oleista tekstura, alkohol dobrze ukryty, słodycz w górnych rejonach. Bardzo fajne....

Bottle, 500 ml shared with Miro, Max and Miro B. Dark brown with beige head. Bit roasty, chocolate, nutty, bready. moderate sweetness. Tad bitter. Bit thin. Medium bodied.
50cl bottle from Hopt, France. Pours dark brown, caramel, with fine beige foam. Aroma is malty, caramel, molasses, fruity, also a little nutty and fig. Body is fairly dense, with moderate carbonation and some stickiness. Taste is medium-high sweet, with limited bitterness. Final is average.
Kalea Bier-Adventkalender 24.12.2020
Eigentlich hätte ich mir zum hl. Abend von Kalea das Bad Santa-Bier mit Zipfelmütze auf der Kapsel erwartet und gewünscht -stattdessen war dieses Bier hinter dem 24. Türchen.
Benannt ist es nach dem baroken Maler und Baumeister Cosmas Damian Asam.
Geschmacklich ist es ein halbwegs gut gehopftes Bockbier mit mäßigen fruchtigen Noten.
Es ist nicht schlecht, aber die große Weihnachtsfreude konnte es mir nicht entlocken.
Colore ambrato scuro aroma malto tostato e cacao, gusto caffe cacao, molto dolce. Retrogusto cacao dolce molto piacevole.
