3.5 Bottle (50 cl) from Systembolaget. Clear copper, medium tan head. Bready and nutty malt with some caramelly aromas. Semi dry, low to medium bitterness.
3.4 Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Clear brown with moderate sized beige head. Aroma of metal, caramel, raisins. Taste again has that metallic note with light roast, caramel, chocolate, raisins, modest bitterness. Smooth body, soft light zingy carbonation.
3.0 bottle @ újbudai sörszaküzlet (budapest) brown colour, normal body, average carbonated, beige head, roasted malty, caramel malty, smooth sweety, easy to drink
3.4 500ml. bottle. @"home", 21/07/2021 [#4.110 Global - #377 Germany - #3 Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg] Clear amber with a tan head. Aroma: sweet caramel malts and toffee. Taste: smooth malty and bready. Next one please!
3.5 11.2 ounce bottle - $2.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Dispensed an amber-brown body, clear, with a tight, ivory-hued head. Smell: Lightly toasted malts given a sweet glaze of caramel. Softly fruity. Modest German hops with an earthy, herbal hint. Taste: Toasted, bready malts with a tangy, twangy touch of fruitiness. Distinct, semi-sweet caramel note. Herbal, lightly spicy hop character with a mild amount of imparted bitterness. Scantly drying, lightly nutty finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Fine, forgettable. Shame on Ayinger and their Altbairisch Dunkel for ruining me when it comes to other dunkels.
3.3 Draft 0.5l at Weltenburg Abbey, at the source, Germany. 28.6.2021. Pour it clear dark amber color with medium white head. Aroma light roasted and metallic note. Taste easy drinkabls, roasted and caramel note, slick finish.
3.6 Reddish brown pour with a beige head and spots of lacing …. Aroma is of toffee, chocolate, dark fruits, caramel malts and roasted malts …. Taste is of toffee, caramel malts, roasted malts and chocolate with dark fruits and a light bitter dry hop bite on the back end ….. mouthfeel has some creaminess and it’s a little soft ….. medium bodied …. Finish has roasted malts and chocolate with lingering toffee …. A quality dunkel, balanced flavor wise and sessionable
3.5 500ml bottle delivered from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Light reddish brown, clear with a little off-white head. Muted nutty aroma, some Ovaltine, some caramel. Sweet taste, some hazelnut and toffee, with a quickly rising bitterness which gives notes of blackberry toward the finish. Nutty chocolate notes in the aftertaste. Body is fairly slight with heavy carbonation. Really nice dunkel.
3.8 Schiuma molto copiosa e color ambrato carico, ottimo aspetto!
4.1 This is the best german dark beer I can remember. They tend to be bland, a slightly malty version of a grassy hopped lager, but Barock Dunkel is a different ballgame altogether. There is coffee in smell and taste. It is full-bodied with more coffee, liquorice and sweet caramel, not too sweet though, despite the absence of any bitterness.
3.5 This is a backlog rating from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are toasted malts, caramel, raisins, brown sugar, decent.
3.6 Bottle from Total Wine. Clear and dark brown with amber highlights. Aroma of toast, caramel, toffee, grass and a touch of chocolate. Toasty, a little bitter and a little sweet. Medium bodied with average carbon.
Textura acuosa, cuerpo medio-ligero y carbonatación media. Buen final tostado y algo seco.
3.3 Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber to red. Off white to crema head. Nose - brown bread with slightly burnt raisins. Taste - yep, more of the bread and dried fruit. A little toasty. Palate - light bodied, slightly sweet in the middle. Roasty towards the finish and reasonably dry. Overall - a decent eample of the style.
3.6 0,5 bottle. Lighter auburn color, light in color, with a slightly brownish but white head. Delicious, caramel, sweet, malt, dried fruity aroma, better than expected. It is one of the bitter brown beers. It hits me that he got hops properly. Not strong, but at least moderately bodily. It's a little too carbonated for me. However, one of the very good drinking beers tasted so far is brown among simple lager. I would buy it again anytime. It’s bitter, but it also comes with dry stewed flavors. Well done. *** Világosabb gesztenyebarna szín, világosba hajló, picikét barnás, de fehér habbal. Finom, karamelles, édeskés, malátás, aszalt gyümölcsös illat, a vártnál jobb. Keserű barna sörök közé tartozik. Nekem bejön, hogy kapott komlót rendesen. Nem erős, de mégis minimum közepesen tesetes. Picit nekem túl szénsavas. Ugyanakkor az eddig kóstoltak közül a nagyon jó ivósörök közé tartozik a barna egyszerű lager-ek közt. Bármikor megvenném újra. Keserű, de mellette a száraz pörköltes ízek is jönnek. Jól sikerült.
4.2 Pours a clear, dark amber to mahogany coloration that turns ruby red when held up to the light, with a large, foamy, lasting head. Smells of bready toasted, caramel malt and hints of chocolate, dried fruits and nuts. Taste follows the nose, with an excellent balance of rich, sweet'ish bready, toasted, caramel malt and rather light, earthy hops, with notes of chocolate, raisin and hazelnut, as well as hints of treacle and licorice. Finishes with a light sweetness and some bready, toasted malt, chocolate and nutty accents lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. While I'm not a huge fan of the style, I still have to say that this is an excellent example of a Munich Dunkel that is quite rich and satisfying, yet easy-drinking at the same time. In fact, the depth of flavor is quite impressive for the ABV here, with a complex malt balance and just enough hoppy accents to prevent this from becoming too sweet, which it really manages very nicely as opposed to many other examples of the style. Probably the best Munich Dunkel I've had, although it's not really a style that I seek out, with a rich malt complexity and great overall balance.
3.3 Dark amber with excellent lather. Nose. Malty, roasted notes, caramel. Taste. Dark malts, sweetish, caramel, light bitterness in the aftertaste. Excellent balance, more interesting than many Dunkels. Roasted notes, some caramel, and bright dried fruits, quite strong (Bitterness) hoppy taste. black, bitter bread crust in the aftertaste. I also drank it for rosil at the brewery, but in the bottle it seemed to me a little watery. Good quality dunkel.
3.6 Not bad for a wheat beer. Would pair well with a brat covered in sauerkraut and a bit of spicy mustard
3.4 Massive malt and bread on the aroma. Brown rush light khaki head that lingers as a collar. Flavor is breast and leads to a thin mouthfeel.
3.1 Couleur brun clair, mousse fine.
3.8 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark brown with small beige head, clear. Aroma of bread, roasted malts, molasses, grain. Bitter taste, full body, long finish, soft carbonation.
3.4 From a bottle poured a dark brown (clear coppery-red under strong light) with 5mm of light tan dense foam that diminished slowly to a blotchy cap that laced poorly. Carbonation low, average and very coarse. Aroma moderately strong of sweet caramel, dried dark fruits, syrup/treacle and brown sugar. Taste similar of sweet caramel and dried dark fruits with hints of spice; very low bitterness. Light body. Smooth and clean with a thin mouthfeel and a short finish.
3.6 Pours clear nut-brown mixed with red. Bone-colored 2-finger head. Nutty malt aroma with a touch of roast to it. Maybe some caramel too. Medium body. Finish is long, with a touch of dryness. Flavor of nutty malt with a touch of malt-sweetness.
3.8 Bottle from Beer Zoo. Clear ruby body with an off-white head that fades. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of copper, caramel and earth. Flavour of cherry, toffee and stewed tea. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Another good beer from one of my favourite German breweries.
2.0 slabo pijalne, ciężkie, nuty melanoidynowe, zapychające
4.7 Rich malty and easy to drink, a 4.7 beer that you can eat with a wood fired steak. Fantastic beer, hold a head laces well smells of rich malts that are full of rich melonodin goodness. Hops are there, but for balance and your aftertaste is rich slightly sweet malt. World class!
3.8 # 1169; 8/2018. Výborně pojatej tmavej ležák. Bez náznaku zbytečný sladkosti, pěkně nahořklej, praženej, čokoládovej. Moc povedený.
