West Sixth IPA

West Sixth IPA

Our India Pale Ale has Citrus as the obvious star. Over the backbone of bready malt and pine stickiness you will find notes of peaches, lemon zest, danky grassiness, pine needles, and tangerines. Each sip is followed by a dangerously drinkable amount of resinous glamour.

3.6 30th August 2018 Can. Hazy gold beer, good fluffy pale cream colour head. Airy and fairly dry palate, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light clean malts, lightly sweet. Bitterish orange peel and a touch of fresh orange. Reasonable pine. Light and bitterish finish. Straight down the line and decent.
3.6 Can at home, 18/08/18. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent lasting white head. Nose is grassy, caramel, grains, bitter orange, straw. Taste comprises orange pith, bitter citric peel, toasted grains, grapefruit, toasted bread, light grassy bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with grassy hop bitterness. Decent clean drinking Old Skool leaning IPA.
3.8 Can from GBBF 2018 and drunk at home. Haze amber colour lasting cream head. Pine resin aroma. Some malty toffee on aroma. Smells like an old style PNW piney resiny IPA. Now that goes better in the mouth than I expected. Ripe pink grapefruit and some nectarine too. Touch of sweetish caramel, but underlying and not overbearing. The sweet sparkling rich fruit flavours are what stand out. It is quite sweet. The fruit is more white stone fruit with some citrus overlayed. Carbonation is ok. It's a bit one trick, but the trick is a good one. Really good fruit throughout and highly entertaining.
5.0 Really loved this beer and would go out of my way to have it again had a can from gbbf

3.5 12 oz. can from the Liquor Barn. Poured an amber/orange with a one finger white head. Pretty decent lace. Aroma is sweet malt with juicy tropical fruits. Flavor follows with orange, guava, mango and pineapple with a biscuits n' honey background. Yum. Medium bodied with minor bitterness on the finish.
3.7 on tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bowling Green, KY; clear amber color; floral, citrusy hop aroma; citrusy hops with some fruity notes on a medium bodied, bready malt base; clean and tasty
4.0 Really great IPA, hoppy, citrusy and full of flavour and deceptively strong too.
3.0 330ml can from beer52 nice average ipa nothing special.
4.5 It's really smooth drinking with a lot of citrus flavor. A solid example of an IPA.
3.6 Tried in a can from Beer52. Hazy deep golden colour with a white head. Aroma floral and topical fruit. Taste mid bitter. Full body.
3.5 A top notch IPA! Perfectly hoppy with a grapefruit tone. Perhaps a little creamy too, but very drinkable (and very dangerous at 7%!)
3.8 12oz can from Beer52. An amber pour with a thick white head; the resinous piney aroma of a "traditional" West Coast IPA; malty body with a big sour grapefruit taste; and a pleasntly spicy resinous aftertaste. Very pleasant.
3.5 Can, pours pale gold with a light haze and a small white head. Aroma is caramel malts, piney hop, subtle lemony citrus, light hop spice. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is long and bitter.
3.2 14/20 good zesty taste, nice level of bitterness, perfect alcohol %, not spectacular but what's not to like
3.7 Can, Beer52. Light amber in colour, bright, white foam. Traditional IPA this, solid malty base adding sweetness and then a big pine grapefruit hop punch and a lingering bitter finish. A solidly executed old school IPA, I rather enjoyed it.
3.1 Can. Clear gold in colour with medium carbonation. Basic IPA aroma of white grapefruit, pale and caramel malt. Flavors are a blend of pithy grapefruit, mild kitchen herbs, along with strong pale and caramel malt notes. Medium bodied with a solid balancing bitterness. A bit too old school for me, but still decent.
3.2 Can. IPA with a big fat foam residing. Scent is IPA with some sweetness. Maybe vanilla. Some bo. Taste is consistent IPA with some fruit properties. Finish is bitter and soft. Very good IPA
3.0 On tap in Louisville KY Birracibo. Pours deep gold, moderate head that quickly dissipated. Light lacing. Balanced hops and malt on the nose, a bit more malty than most IPAs. Balanced flavor, tight and crisp, medium mouthfeel appropriate to style. Floral, herbal and citrusy. Hint of harsh bitterness but otherwise a very good IPA and well worth a try.
3.9 Rating #2495 - 2016.05.04 - Sample at BrewExpo at CBC - Clear golden amber pour with a weak, white head that bubbles away to a ring. Aroma is strong , pine needle super oily, resinous, lemon cake. Taste is more of the same, dry earthy bitters, lemon, caramel, pine. Lovely IPA.
3.4 12/19/16. On tap at JP’s in Paducah. Orange pour with a small khaki head. Citrus hops and some floral aspects on the aroma. Okay flavor, some citrus, pale malts, a touch of caramel. Not bad.
2.8 Canned 3/6/2017, so quite fresh. Aroma is lost on me thanks to my sinuses. Slightly murky golden yellow color with almost no head. Taste is pine resin hops with not enough malt balance, so the bitterness dominates a bit too much. Very dry, would probably benefit dramatically if it had better balance. Bitterness lingers for quite a while. It’s OK at best.
3.7 Sunny March day in Lexington, so what’s better than a nice IPA really to get into it?
3.7 Poured from a can. Clear golden color, medium frothy white head. Nice pine oil and floral hops aroma. Medium body with a sweet resin flavor and a medium finish.
3.4 Light citrus. Some malt. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Nutmeg and caramel with some smoke like nutcrackers on fire. Sweet finish. Can.
3.3 Orange, nice head, aroma of marmalade, orange, flavor of marmalde, cheese, orange, sweet, medium bodied.
3.7 Re:rate: Tap at Maloney’s. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Big orange and tangerine notes on the nose. Super refreshing with with citrus. Thankfully the pine notes are a bit muted. Lingering orange. Tap at CYO Brewing. Caramel, pine, honey and a bit of orange zest on the nose. Some grapefruit character as it warms. Medium body. Fairly bitter finish. Solid NW-style IPA, but a little old school for me. That being said, fairly easy drinking.
1.9 Poured a darker golden color with a white head. Aroma was of stale oxidized hops and caramel. Flavor similar, I love old IPAs.
3.6 Draft at Pizza and Pints. Dark amber with slight head. Faint sweet aroma. Balanced pine and grapefruit taste, medium body and mildly bitter finish.
4.0 A hazy orange with a pleasant West Coast hop aroma. Moderate bitterness, good hop flavor and a light drying finish.
