Westmalle Tripel

Westmalle Tripel

A strong, dry and spicy Trappist ale.

The product of a secondary fermentation lasting 5 weeks. This is a complex ale with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional ale, with a great deal of finesse and elegance, and with a splendid long after taste.

3.9 Slightly darkish golden pour with a lasting white head. Tastes of caramelised/candied orange, citrus, yeast, sweet bread, raisins, champagne, some hay and flowers. Tastes of toffee, banana, sweet citrus, hay/grass; slightly bitter, but pleasant finish with a hint of lemon. A grate beer, personally, I would like to see a little less sugar added.
4.0 Fruity ale, with good after taste
3.8 Had in Brugges
4.0 Apple aroma. Very fruity and strong. Warm sensation even a bit after drinking.
3.3 Vidange
3.8 Sweet and dry.. lots of carbination. Easy drinking and leaves a distinct amount of notes on the entry and the exit. I wouldn’t have expected a Trappist beer to have sugar added obviously it helps with the ABV though.
4.0 I really love this beer. Such a nice color and flavor
3.4 Dry, spicy. Perhaps, too spicy for me. The bitterness is also high. This tripel feels a bit rough compared to others of its kind. Though it might be a good variation for someone.
4.3 Hazy amber color, nice white creamy head, no carbonation bubbles. Head retention is nice. Aroma yeast, flowery, slight bannana, slightly alchoholic. Taste very similar, first yeast then nice sourness very similar to white wine, followed by nice sweetnes and fine bitterness at the end. Medium, creamy body. Hides it's high alchohol well. Very nice and complex beer.
4.3 Blomma. Jäst. Alkohol.
2.6 Dolce con finale amaro e secco, frutta secca, sensazione alcolica
4.1 Bottle poured into a trappist glass. Dark gold hue with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is candied fruits, champagne grapes, light floral hops. Initial taste is much the same as the aroma. Fades to floral hops, Belgian yeast. Very active carbonation and a medium body. Outstanding. This is beer #600 for me. 8-5-8-4-16
4.2 Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a large, creamy, lasting head. Smells of caramel malt, floral hops, with hints of citrus, some fruity esters and hints of toffee. Taste is a great balance of caramel malt, fruity and slightly spicy esters, with notes of banana, apricot and clove, as well as lighter floral, bitter hops with hints of orange rind and toffee also coming through. Finishes bittersweet, with some banana, orange rind and clove lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation. This is actually the first time I've had this Tripel and while it is very good indeed, it doesn't quite reach Tripel Karmeliet or Chimay Tripel to me. The banana notes are quite at the forefront here, which I'm not a huge fan of, while the spice is noticeable, but a little subdued. Nevertheless there's a great balance of malts, hops and esters to this, with quite a rich and full body and mouthfeel as well. I was actually surprised by how much hops, relatively speaking, are left in this at just over one year old and would love to try it fresh sometime, which just might edge it a little closer to my aforementioned favorites. Also, considering that this has the highest ABV out of any Tripel I've tried so far, it really doesn't feel overly boozy at all.
3.9 Aromas of bread, malty, yeast, slight fruitiness. Taste adds some candy sugar. Carbonation a little lively. Very true to type. Reasonably complex in a subtle way. Quite good.
3.0 Banana-y smell, taste is same...a lot like the banana bread beer but a little less smooth/warm/malty ... Can't taste alcohol really, solid mouthfeel, decent complexity, just not a lot going on to rate higher...had at home on a lazy Saturday as pandemic carries on with 966k US deaths
4.8 Great beer 🍺
4.5 @Nice Sweet and spicy, phenols, fermentation and yeast aroma. Alcohol, pepper, malts in taste. Medium body. Rich in phenols and esters. Alcohol noticeable. Well rounded and complex taste.
4.2 Pours golden yellow, big foamy head typical of Belgium ales. Not transparent. Taste is ripen fruit, then a sharp spicy zap! I was surprised. Very fine carbonation, works magic with the spice in the beer. Medium biscuity aftertaste. Very interesting beer overall.
3.9 Lekker
4.1 Aroma: Dried fruit, caramel, pepper, herbs, hay, bubblegum. Appearance: Clear pale, good creamy head. Taste: Semi-dry, decent bitterness, maybe some booze. Palate: Medium body, lively carbonation. Overall: Very good, more adventurous than some other trappist tripels.
4.2 Bottle. Had it many a time, before rating. Slightly Hazy gold, big very fine bubbled head. Nose of caramel wafers, complex yeast esters, fine honey. The flavor is sweet but dry, magically balanced with smooth hop bitterness. Lots of honey and biscuit notes and a deep, rich complexity from the yeast. If you don't like this, go back to Bud Lite? 😉
4.0 zapach intensywny, dość wytrawne słody, drożdże w tle, wytrawne suszone owoce, przyprawy, brązowy cukier, wytrawny, dobrej jakości alkohol, jak dobre destylaty owocowe, suszone zioła, w tle budyń waniliowy, czarny pieprz, ziele angielskie. kolor złoty wpadający w bursztyn, lekko opalizujący, w toni pływa sporo różnej wielkości drobin. piana biała, obfita i trwała. w smaku bogate, karmel, toffi, jasne słody, lekkie kwaskowe nuty karmelowe, suszone owoce, pieprz, gałka muszkatołowa, tytoń, ogólnie przyprawy, drożdże, lekki banan w tle, dość wyraźny, ale dobrze ułożony i przyjemny alkohol, wytrawny koniak i dobry biały rum. goryczka umiarkowana, przyprawowa, suszone zioła, lekki karmel i alkohol. w ustach okrągłe pomimo wytrawności, rozgrzewające. nasycenie bardzo wysokie, bardzo dużo drobnych i agresywnych bąbelków
4.0 Rich complex spicy flavors are blended to perfection. Belgian hops galore. Dark fruits. Heavy body with a strong finish.
2.5 Una birra che ha la stima di molti ma che in fin dei conti non mi ha fatto correre nei corridoi urlando "Westmalle!" Una trappista interessante dalle tonalità fruttate e una sensazione importante di pienezza e stordimento.
