3.1Bottled 09.06.11 and best by 12.06.11. Pours clear coppery orange with a creamy 2-finger orange and beige head that leaves a thick veil of lacing as it recedes. Aromas of sweet papaya and fruit, some mango, and caramel. The flavor is citrusy hops and bitter grass, a touch astringent, with a sweet papaya finish. Average carbonation and body. It’s alright, but nothing spectacular. [890]
3.5Poured a dark rusty orange with a nice billowy head. Aromas were hoppy and sweet, a tad like orange juice - fresh sqeezed. The taste was very refreshing, a nice subtle hop front followed by a rush of sweet citrus notes. Finished malty and smooth with a nice zesty aftertaste, balancing pretty well. This particular brew from Weyerbacher is incredibly drinkable.
3.2orange pour with aroma’s of cut grass and dank hop’s. flavor is fresh hop’s, very green taste. bitter midway through with a lingering hop flavor.
3.9Bottle. Pours copper with a thick head that dissipates in minutes. Smells grassy, flowery, and very hoppy. Taste is sharp and hoppy.. really good. Wet hops are just a little more fun this time of year.
3.5smooth and silky the smooth of the malty and the texture hides the true bitterness of the hops. the aroma is standard and uninspiring. the taste is an almost perfect mixture of malts and hoppy. very good all the way.
3.3The aroma is very hoppy with citrus, pine, and grass. There is also sweet malt but there isn’t a lot of balance. The appearance is amber with a medium head. The palate is smooth. Overall this beer is about the hops which I think is the point of it.
2.5Bottle. Orange amber with a small sudsy white head. Nose is rather malty for a harvest ale with some grassy, herbal type hops lingering. Bitter and sweet malty flavor. Sweet resin, wax, light diacetyl. Messy.
3.3Small tan with decent retention and some thin lace.Lightly hazy copper/ orange color. Nose of light citrus, pine and spicey notes, lil leafy. Medium bodied, Lil oily, slight resin. Lightly sweet malts, caramel, citrus, some grain. Fairly dry finish, light bitterness, light fruit. Inoffensive. Bottle from statelineliquors.
3.9This one poured out a nice copper color with a nice sized, white head. Nose is grassy/earthy hops with a hint of pine in the nose. Loads of caramel sweetness comes through the immense hop notes. This one tasted similar with very sweet caramel malts and some intensely fresh grassy hops. The sweetness and hops lent themselves to a taste similar to tangerine. Very enjoyable and drinkable.
3.6bottle. pours a deep orange with a 2 finger white head... big orange / citrus hop nose with big caramel malt notes. medium body - balanced between malt and hop with the malt tipping the scales a bit. smooth body - creamy throughout with orange, caramel, light pine and banana notes. sticky, citrus bitter finish with some sweet malts.
4.1The burnt orange colored body was clear, and the head was one to two finger thick. The aroma was very hoppy, with grassy and herbal tones typical of fresh cones. The taste was less bitter than the aroma suggested, and had a tangy sweetness which reminded me somewhat of Smarties candy (US version). The finish was earthy and herbal, and the body medium thick. This was a very refreshing beer for me.
3.412oz bottle. Clear amber-orange color, minimal bubbly white head. Soft but pronounced carbonation. Nice, juicy resiny wet hop taste, moderate bitterness. Good amount of malt here. A good but not outstanding wet-hop IPA.
2.9Below average beer. This beer had no aroma and a thin mouth feel with taste of malt and sweetness not much hop aroma or flavor.
3.4A: Deep amber body. Mid-sized beige head. Light lacing and good retention.
S: Light citrus, perhaps some orange and grapefruit. Some pine cones and a rich caramel and bread malt base.
T: Malty base shines through while the hop bitterness is more subdued than the nose would suggest. Slight citric and pine hop characteristics.
M: Light carbonation is good up front but leads to a somewhat thin finish without any bite or crispness to speak of.
O: All things considered its a decent IPA. Despite being a harvest IPA, it doesn’t really convey the "fresh" hop characteristics I was expecting.
4.3Good hoppy harvest. Weyerbacher never disappoints. Good overall IPA. Would recomend.
3.412 oz bottle pours a amber color with a nice white head. Aromas of pine, citrus. Medium bodied with an oily mouthfeel.
3.5On draft at Capone’s. Orange pour, light aroma. Rich and bready flavor with some sharp hops. It is called an IPA, but my taste buds thought it seemed more like a nice harvest APA.
3.2This pours clear deep gold with a tall foamy off-white head.
Sweet malt aroma combines with fresh hops.
Light bitterness that quickly fades to a dry finish. I was expecting full flavor here from the aroma and I only got a watered down version of what I was expecting.
I know Weyerbacher can do better than this.
3.7Bottle. Amber, clear, white head. Hop aroma - pine. Similar to a flavorful pale but with heavier body. Nice finish. Would have again -- very good beer.
3.6Aroma of citrus, grass and notes of pine. Pours deep amber with a milkshake head. Tastes of pine notes, bitter grass and floral. Delicious and hoppy but slightly botanical.
3.2Bottle. Pours a clear orangish with a small white head. Aroma of fruity/citric hops. Bitter & sweet with a fruity/citric hop flavor. Finish is slightly soapy and overall the beer is pretty one dimensional. Decent but not great.
3.8(bottle) OK, I am admittedly an advocate of this brewer, but I think the fresh hops stand out in the aroma and flavor for this seasonal IPA. The taste has a good balance while remaining hop forward. ABV is just right for the style. My preferred autumn seasonal from Weyerbacher.
3.6solid IPA. pours a medium amber with a light head. strong cascade hops with a decent malt backbone. like others have said, a good session brew.
3.3Aroma - Light hops,
Appearance - Medium clear amber with light head.
Taste - Tastes like a wheat, hoppy ale, solid flavor but not the best
Palate - medium-light body with bitter finish
Overall - Not exactly my cup of tea; not a bad beer, just not for me...
3.8Golden amber color with a medium body, minimal white head and moderate carbonation. Very floral and citrusy hop notes. Starts out hoppy/bitter finishes slightly dry. This is the first time that I have tried a wet-hopped beer so I dont know how this compares to other wet-hopped beers. i’ll have to try more of them.
3.8The aroma is pure cascade with a very green hop taste overwhelming the palette with slight bitterness as it lays on the tongue. Mostly balanced for a harvest and would probably benefit from a little time as all the flavors are very pronounced.
3.7Pleasant floral and citrus hops, good balance, slight malty sweetness, very sessionable.
3.5Pizzeria Paradiso, Dupont, DC 12oz ($3hh): Pours on the darker side of IPAs. Aroma is toffee and moderate hops. Taste is pretty much up the same alley. Malt character is pretty good; it is well-balanced with the fresh hops. Citrus is pretty dominant, but there is a wee bit of pine. This beer is nothing extraordinary, but it is certainly a good session.
3.5Nice fresh-hopped Cascade bomb from Weyerbacher, piney with a bit of citrus and herb, yet overall a bit tame in its hoptitudinacity. The malts are grainy, but not full enough to pad the rough edges from the abundance of Cascade hops. Comes off as a louder, less-educated brother of Ol’ Greenskin. Not that pretty either. But, in the end, it is nice-n-hoppy, without any annoying defects, and all those fresh hops do give a certain "greenness" to the taste. Probably better than I’m rating it.
3.812oz bottle. Olde Crabapple Bottle Shoppe.
Copper color, white head. Aroma of sweet malts, followed by grassy hops and spruce tips. Flavor of toasted pale malts, some caramelized sugar, loads of fresh cut grass, and a harsh hop bitterness. Sharp bitterness is well balanced with sweet toasted grains. Smooth bitter finish tingles on the tongue.
