Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren!
Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream.
If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

2.8 I really like this. The aroma is like a seasonal scented candle. It tastes just how you expect; like drinking a piece of pumpkin pie.
3.7 hazy deep orange to red appearance. light spiced aroma with some hops. taste is heavy spice, with a nice biting imperial ending. light sweet, with all spice and nutmeg finish. tap
3.1 strong malty, pumpkin pic aromas. red in color with light head. taste is malty, strong pumpkin spice flavors.
3.6 12oz bottle. Clear amber with minimal head. The pumpkin flavor is in there, though the cinnamon and nutmeg spices are what make this good. Nicely balanced with a spicy, warming finish. If you're gonna drink a pumpkin beer it might as well be a good one.
2.2 Maybe I got a bad batch but this was not good. I used clean glasses but it poured with 0 head at all. It was like drinking a flat pumpkin soda. 3 of us all had a bottle at the same time and had the same reaction. It was surprise because one of the stockers at the beer distributor recommended this as his favorite pumpkin.
4.1 Treated as an imperial ale, this was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a ruddy burnt amber to orange color with no head or lace. The aroma starts off semi-sweet pumpkin fleshiness hitting against subtle spices of allspice, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves; well balanced. The flavor leans somewhat spicy with a gentle sweetness underneath. Sweet pumpkin flesh rides into the aftertaste and quickly hits the finish, that ends up being slightly spicy - just a little bit. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable to sipping quality sticking to my tongue appropriately. Spices create enough harshness but gentle enough. Overall, damn nice imperial pumpkin ale that i would love to have again. Thanks Rich C.
4.2 DATE: October 7, 2016... OCCASION: made it through another week of school... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter...pours a dark amber, almost mahogany body with a busy, bubbly body that cannot sustain the fizzy, off-white head--a placid surface collects the occasional bubble, but the alcohol halts any impressive froth... BIG, powerful cinnamon, caramel, gingerbread and nutmeg promise BIG things in the profile... some hops also wrapped with a breath of alcohol... a medium-bodied, oily, bourbon-evoking draw... the profile is profoundly ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg--a dessert in and of itself... outstanding, strong, and worth the price tag.... another strong Weyerbacher product that seems bigger than its 8% ABV... right up there with other high ABV pumpkin ales...
3.1 aged 3+ years - pours deep amber with an initially full off white head but it disappears quickly. visible sediment. aromas are full of the expected spices and strong pumpkin. some honey-like aroma might be due to oxydation. caramelly sweet flavors with expected pumpkin but the spices not quite as prominent as in aroma. very light carbonation but not flat. oily and rich texture with med to full body. what’s left of the bitterness lingers along the pumpkin flavors in the aftertaste.
3.6 12 ounce bottle. Toasted amber in color. I taste the pumpkin, cardamom, cloves, and a little nutmeg. Detect a touch of black pepper. Mouthful could be heavier. Smooth on the palate. Overall this a very enjoyable pumpkin ale.
3.4 12oz bottle. Pours a pumpkin colored copper with a minuscule white head. Aroma is pumpkin. Taste is sweet malt, spice, and pumpkin. Lightish body. Soft carbonation. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side.
3.3 Pours a clear dark coppery orange / cranberry color with almost no head at all. Fairly strong aroma of mixed fall spices. Starts very smooth and sweet then finishes very dry with a sharp cinnamon and clove aftertaste and some alcohol warmth. OK but not as good as I expected.
3.4 Purchased at Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids, MI; enjoyed on a cool late summer evening. Appearance is dark caramel with a thin white head. Aroma of nutmeg, pumpkin spice, smells like fall. Taste is decent, very much sweet, very much pumpkiny. Nothing thats standing out about this one.
3.3 12oz bottle. 7/14/16 bottle date. Appearance: Dark brown, hazy, with an off white foam head. Aroma: Smells like Big Red. Strong cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Like pumpkin pie. Cinnamon definitely stronger than most other pumpkin ales. Taste: Moderate malt sweetness, with some toasted and nutty notes, with light pumpkin pie spicing. Cinnamon and nutmeg are noticeable, but restrained. Pretty high bitterness for the style. Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, a little thin for a beer with this ABV. Alcohol warmth is quite strong. Low carbonation. Finish: Pumpkin spicing really lingers here, with a surprising amount of grassy bitterness. Overall: Pretty run of the mill pumpkin ale. Strong cinnamon and bitterness compared to others, with a disappointing under carbonation that leaves the beer flat. Body is thin for the high ABV, making the alcohol feel very warm. Could be better and more balance simply by increasing the body and carbonation.
4.8 One of the best Pumpkin Ale’s out there today. Not over powering and a fine balance of ingredients. At 8%, it has a very small back bite and goes down extremely smooth. A perfect seasonal beer and one of my top 10 of all time.
3.5 Pours a dark cloudy amber. Head is light and thin. Aroma is great, perfect blend of spices and pumpkin...reminds me of Thanksgiving. Flavor is also pumpkin pie, but not at the same level as the nose. A little sweetness I wasn’t expecting. It’s good, not amazing.
3.4 355ml bottle. Dark amber shade. Off-white head. Spice-filled aroma. Nutmeg stands out. Taste has burnt caramel, bubblegum, stewed fruits and spices. Not bad, but my overall impressions are of a fairly middling pumpkin ale.
3.5 Bottle from dregs run. Pours hazy Amber. Spiced pumpkin, oranges and lemons. Taste is tart, fruity and funky.
3.3 Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk dregs run. Appearance - deep amber and hazy. Nose - pumpkin, orange and some red fruit too. Light wood spice. Taste - oxidised note. Then orange and wood. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - weird oxidised note that spoils it.
3.3 Pours clear amber with no head. Aroma is spices and ginger. Taste is spices, cloves, ginger and pumpkin sweet.
3.7 Bottle at craig’s. Pours clear amber, nose is pumpkin, spices, caramel, taste is similar, dry, biscuity.
3.3 bottle at home ... copper .. thin tan lacing ... soft spicy toffee malt .. light pumpkin nose .. soft spice .. dry roast bitter fruit ... soft tofee .. dry pumpkin
3.0 Bottle at Craigs. Pours clear golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of light spice, light brown sugar. Taste is sweet, thin finish.
3.5 Pours a dark golden amber with fluffy head. Aromas of dark fruits, spice, and cinnamon. Flavors of pumpkin, caramel, all spice, nutmeg.
3.7 Bouteille. [notes 2006]
2.4 Bottle. A- Nutmeg, Cinnamon, holiday spices. A- Brown color, murky liquid, minimal head. T- Nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, spices, gourds. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, unbalanced finish. O- Tons of spice and not much pumpkin. Really unbalanced and I really did expect better. Pretty gross actually but not totally putrid.
3.5 Draught @ Albion. Faintly cloudy dark orange-copper with small frithy beige head, strong pumpkin aroma, sweet caramel-pumpkin taste with cinnamon and cloves, low carbonation, smooth body, medium sweet finish with pumpkin aftertaste. Very nice pumpkin ale.
3.4 This one other very highly rated but was not my favorite. Very strong pumpkin taste but not enough spice. Would not try again.
4.1 Poured from a bottle at Costoberfest great tasting ale with pumpkin and bourbon For me one of the better pumpkin bwers
3.7 Bottle. Pours a a fairly unclear amber brown beer with a small, quickly disappearing white head on top. Aroma of cinnamon, pumpkin spices, nutmeg and other herbal notes. Flavor is rather sweet, cinnamon faded a bit to the background, making way for other spices, malty sweetness and some boozy notes. Really rich, full and has a long sweet aftertaste. Nice one.
3.7 Bottle @ RVA 22nd. Floaties in amber color with light head. Nice spiced aroma- not over done. Actually does taste a little pumpkiny under the spice.
