3.8 Bottle: Poured a bright clear yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bourbon is dominating with some sweet malt also easily noticeable. Taste is a mix between some bourbon with some sweet malt. All fruity eater or spicy yeast notes are overwhelmed by the bourbon but I still thought it was an enjoyable mix and it wasn’t too cloying overall. Full body with some great carbonation and some alcohol is noticeable.
3.6 12oz bonus from JCB. Pours gold with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet with a nice citrus touch. Taste is sweet with a lot flavor. I’m iffy on tripels and this is tasty.
3.9 Bottle. Pours hazy hold with a white head. The aroma is fruity, with peach, orange, and pineapple. The flavor brings definite bourbon notes, as well as peach, spices and peppermint. Very different, very interesting.
3.3 12oz bottle, getting on two years old. At first pour this was brutal, but as its warmed its opened up and has turned into a fairly decent beer. Pour is a great gold with almost no head. Aroma is intense and very fruity, tons of esters, some booze and some toothpaste. Body is pretty thin, and some of that bourbon comes through in the flavor and blocks a lot of notes. Overall a bit tough to drink though not the massive failure I was expected by any means.
3.0 22, capped, thanks to ??? at the recent tasting. Pours clear dark gold with a white ring of foam. Lightly sour apple aroma, maybe with some butterscotch behind it? Light body moderate carbonation. Lightly sour and hot finish. This vaguely reminds me of a old cold and cough remedy: 1 jigger hot water; one jigger lemon juice, one jigger honey and one jigger bourbon. Tastes pretty much the same, except for the lower temperature in this one. I almost want to heat it up.
3.3 22, capped. Cloudy medium amber with bright gold highlights. Virtually headless, laceless. No legs. Mild, orangey, a little bit of biscuit. Subued tart finish.
3.3 65o ml. Cloudy pale orange gold with a bottle gush that flits away and settles to a nice small ring of cream. Aroma is butterscotch, apple and alcohol. Wow taste is cherry-apple-butterscotch coughdrop like I have never tasted in a beer before. It’s actually not bad, but OMG sweet fruity alcohol with a lot of chest warming; I should have saved this one for a winter-time sinus infection. I like the lightly carbonated, light-medium body with gum-tingly alcohol. Actually very drinkable for all the sweetness and alcohol.
4.0 22oz Bottle. Pours a light gold color with tight white head that disappears quickly and leaves some lacing around the glass. Aroma is oak, bourbon, bread dough, and some fruitiness. Taste is very nice, up front you get hit with a quick burst of grapes then it moves into the mellow flavors of wood and bourbon. It all ends rather cleanly with a nice dry finish much like a glass of champaign. Mouthfeel is very dry with a bit of tangyness from the alcohol and carbonation. This is a very nicely brewed beer, I enjoyed it very much and will be recommending it to friends.
3.0 22oz bottle. Gusher. Poured a clear golden color. Head was white with good retention and lacing. Aroma was of champaign, light yeasty bread dough with a light woody note. I didn’t smell any bourbon. Tart fruitiness throughout joined by some sugars toward the end. Relatively smooth mouth feel with less prickly carbonation than I had expected given the opening gush. I tasted champaign, apple juice, and grape juice, but again, no bourbon. There was also a hint of biscuity malt which reminded me that this was actually beer. Light to medium bodied. Tasted like a combination of apple juice, champaign, and beer. Not a favorite of mine.
3.2 not one of my favorites by this company. Too much sweetness in my opinion. Not awful just rather try others
4.2 I can’t believe the average for this beer is only 3.3. This is a monster of complexity and a masterpiece. It pours a clody dirty-yellow (not the most auspicious start) with a good deal of concentric-ring lacing. There’s a big aroma of oak and bourbon-spice. Flavors are reminiscent of both a tripel and a Belgian golden ale, with an intense oakey booziness and subtle notes of raisin, lemon, and the barest trace of farmhouse ale notes and Belgian floral funk. The alcohol presence is just right. Highly recommended.
3.7 A heavily carbonated golden beverage with pure white head. Sweet malty aroma with fain spice and Belgian yeast. similar taste with a raisin character. Smooth finish.
4.2 July 2007 - Pale golden pour, decent head and lacing. Loads of fruit and vanilla in this one. Good bourbon barrel flavor. Some banana. Wonderfully sweet and yeasty. Tastes like a sweet trippel. I likey.
4.4 vintagecellars. A damn fine beer that should have a higher rating. Similar to Allagash Curieux. Hazy yellow amber with a fizzy white head. Sweet fruit and bourbon aroma. Nice mouthfeel, great grainy belgian taste with a wonderful bourbon flavor and a warm finish.
3.7 Pours light copper with off-white head. Aroma almost reminded me of a lambic- zesty lemon citrus notes melded with some delicious sweet smokey bourbon notes and some caramel and belgian malts coming through. Flavor is quite lemony again with nice subtle whiskey flavors, dried fruit, apple cider, vanilla, peppery spice, and wood. Palate is a little syrupy and finishes dry.
3.5 Courtesy SoLan. Cloudy with yellow-orange hue, soapy white head. Very sweet vinous aroma, candy corn, mild alcohol. Sweet start, slightly sour twang, alcohol more detectable on the taste, some mild spice on the finish along with a citric tone. The tannic elements come out as it warms a bit.
3.5 Coutesy puzzl. Orange/gold and an insignificant white head. Aroma of white wine, buttery vanilla oak, honey, floral notes. Similar flavor with a rich malt background and some burbon. Full body, smooth. Solid.
3.5 A very nice and different tripel from my neighbors in Easton. Aroma is pure bourbon and not much else, maybe a hint of vanilla. Pour was a cloudy orange with a one finger off white head. Taste was very different for a tripel. There was a strong bourbon flavor that overpowers the rest. Can pick up some yeast and a hint of caramel malt but this is very one dimensional. Nice change of pace for the style.
2.8 Bottle. Rich golden body with a big creamy, off-white head. Sugary banana smell, with some aromatic clove. Too sweet, syrupy and cloying flavor. Feels great in the mouth, rich with a pleasant bite of alcohol.
3.8 Slightly hazy gold with a thick white head. beautiful strong aroma of malt laced with bourbon and oak. Flavor is spicy malt, bourbon, valinna, oak. Lightly astringent on the palate. Amazingly good.
3.6 12 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a hazy golden color with a half finger thick white head that faded pretty quick. Aroma is oak/bourbon, esters (citrus), and yeast. Has a fairly strong bourbon flavor with some esters and spice thrown in. Medium body. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. A decent beer. Thanks Jason.

3.1 Strong malt aroma, hint of smoke, wood and bubblegum? Golden, small white head. Smokey flavour start, woody, oaky and boozey. Strong, almost harsh, either the abv or the bourbon is overboard. Bold offering, just not for me.
3.2 Cloudy blonde body with a very small white head. Sweet syrupy beer with the barrel aspect being very much apparent. Light fruity notes. Sticky body. Alcohol apparent. Inexpressive hops. Overall feeling of licking honey on wood. Original but not very interesting sipper. Not a very successful barrel-aging experiment if you ask me. Not surprising, a prophecy never comes through as planned.
3.0 Thin white head. Hazy yellow body with floaties. Malty milky tobaccoish aroma with herbal hoppy background. Acidic milky toffeeish taste, kind of sharp and unbalanced, with notes of honey, wood, and marzipan. Dry thin sharpish aftertaste. Unusual, but quite good. (0.65l bottle at glouglouburp’s.)
(Rating #1165)
3.4 My Bottom Line: This bourbon barrel Tripel is heavy on the bourbon (like many Weyerbacher oak-aged strong ales, I find), but its vanilla sweetness accompanies the pear and apple fruitiness of the Belgian yeast quite nicely, forming a classy yet intense sipper. Further Personal Perceptions: -A thin veil of foam floats atop the cloudy blond. -The malts’ honeyed sweetness provide plenty of body to warn the drinker to take smaller sips. -A greater hop presence in the back would have been appreciated to balance the beer out and facilitate further sips. -There might be a little too much barrel apport for my tastes, but it remains a fun barrel aging experiment nonetheless. Bottle.
3.7 Bottle. Golden clear colour with a small white head. Fruity aroma with notes of sweetness, oak and apple. Very nice flavour of yeast, sweetness, fruit and alcohol. One of the better US-tripel.
3.0 22oz bottle. this beer is an odd slightly flemish sour/tripel thing going on. nose is almost gueze at first but something off about it all. cloyingy sweet, that becomes too much. i wouldn’t mind 4oz of this every now and then. sorry i didn’t take notes while drinking this.
3.0 12oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma. Smells of bourbon, alcohol, oak, and apple. Poured golden with a hint of orange in color with a small, off-white head that diminished quickly. No lacing. Medium cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Many small and medium-sized particles. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes heavily of bourbon and alcohol, with oak an vanilla notes. Full body. Sticky texture. Soft carbonation. Sweet bourbon finish.
