2.7 Bottle shared with Joes and DutchDrebus. Thanks Joes for sharing. Nice amber color, but not a good smell. Malt and caramel. Low to medium body, low to medium carbo.
4.0 Nice taste with a creamy feel throughout. Dark copper color, sweet caramel malty aroma, flavor is malts and caramel. Medium body with a hint of alcoholic bitter finish. This used to be one of my favorites.
2.7 Bottle. Pours an amber golden body with a white pillow head. Aromatically malty body with notes of caramel, cereal, light sweetness. Light earth tones, finish is flawed with a hint metallic and lightly bitter. If not for the metallic note would have been better.
2.5 Dark brown-amber, small whitish head. Aroma of caramel malt and really nothing else. Taste is watery caramel and a slight touch of hops. Thin. Like watery bass.
2.6 12 oz. bottle, $1.50 loose at HyVee, Storm Lake, IA. No expiry code. Twist-off cap. Poured in my Sam Adams glass, there’s a slightly cloudy brown beer under a thin head. Some sediment left in the bottle. This has gotten old, I think, probably why it sat in the loose rack. Oxidized, slightly phenolic smell that I can’t count against an undated bottle. At least that means there’s malt in here, and that’s plain with the taste. It’s malty sweet, but a bit medicinal. Hops have dwindled away. Hate to knock a beer for being past its prime, but I can’t rate based on what I think it would taste like. Clearly a chance for a nice, malty English beer that is, it seems, not easy to find where I am.
1.9 Moderately bitter, medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, sour finish that was unfortunately long. Avoid.
2.6 Dark hazy amber brown with a lacing beige head. Aroma of mild floral hops, fruit and toffee. Taste is a little too sweet. No bitterness whatsoever, just a fruity floral hoppiness. I know it’s not supposed to be very bitter but come on this is just weak. Medium body, medium carbonation.
4.5 a little cloudy but the mediocre reviews this beer has received is because of inconsistent preferences of the individuals who have rated it. A superior taste that has good balance between flavor, bitterness and aroma.
2.5 Bought from the World Market in Arlington Highlands. Sweet and roasted with a dry, hoppy aftertaste.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a clear copper amber with a medium creamy off white head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a spicy fruit aroma with caramel and light bready malt. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter malt with caramel and a nice sugary finish. A good ESB from Boston Beer.
3.0 33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Deep amber colour, clingy tight foam head. Balanced hop/malt, with some sweet citrus lurking in the background. Challenging flavor, first sip is slightly sour, then changing to sweet bitter molasses. Finish is autumnal and earthy, prunes mostly.
3.0 Great lacing. Aroma is sweet and slightly malty with a hint of roast. The flavor lingers on the side/back of the tongue as a slightly astringent hop/roasty malt bitterness with a hint of minerals.
2.7 Overall a very good beer. Appearance is light brown with a lacey head. Mouthfeel is smooth. Brew is pretty malty but overall has a very nice flavor and is a very drinkable beer.
3.6 Hazy brown color with a fluffy tan head. I could detect some caramel aroma with some sweet tea in the background. Kind of a sweet citrus taste. I like this.
2.9 light brown color, fairly clear, small off-white head which disappears quickly, slight lacing. light citrus hops in the nose, touch of tea. flavor of sweet malt, touch of creamy caramel, lightest hint of citrus hoppiness. medium bodied, bitter finish. a bit too meek and a touch too sweet to be repeatable. sweetens more as it warms. 6 pack purchased a liquor depot in monee.
2.7 Poured out an orangy brown clear beer with an acceptable ammount of off-white head that leaves small spotty lacing. Lots of fruity aroma, caramel and burnt sugar. Some spice and possibly some alcohol. The taste is filled with mildly spicy hops and some burnt sugar and a weak fruit...but there is a notable alcohol burn...or is it the hops? Hard to tell as the flavour isn’t all that great to start off with. Light medium bodied. Fairly smooth on the mouth while being very carbonated. After the not-so-good bitterness vanishes you are left with a bit of a chewy burnt sugar finish.
2.6 Yet another incredibly boring ESB’s on the market and while it’s nothing to get excited about, it’s not a drainpour either. The beer pours out a medium amber color/orangeish color, slightly hazy with a 2" foamy off-white head. Aroma is lightly sweet with honey, some yeast/bready aroma, dust, and floral. Aroma though is very restrained and there just wasn’t enough there to get a higher score. Flavor is sweet up front, with a bit of french bread-like sweetness, slightly fruity with a bit of off-caramel. Eh.
3.3 Straight from the bottle. Had an aroma of sweet malt, some caramel. and maybe a bit of sugar cane. Taste was slightly hoppy with hints of caramel. Somewhat creamy for a light body. I like it.
2.7 Pours light rusty brown with a nice creamy, tan head; good lacing. Pleasant malty aromas with a touch of fig and wine; faint hop bouquet. Malt sweetness is almost immediately followed by a balancing hop bitterness. From here on its all downhill: almost no flavors in the middle or in the finish except an unpleasant astringency that, coupled with the fizziness on the tongue, leaves the impression of tonic water. Too bad.
2.9 Orange pour with a white head. Sweet malt aroma with some hops coming through. Some caramel flavor followed by some bitterness. Nothing too powerful. Solid but not over the top.
3.2 ~A somewhat hazy orange amber beer with nice fluffy rocky white head. ~Caramel malt aroma withe some fruity sweetness and bread. ~Sweet citrus caramel flavor, slightly nutty. ~ light to medium feel. Bitter citrusy finish. ~Decent little brew. Nothing special but enjoyable. Glad Ratebeer labeled it as an ESB
3.6 Twist off 12 oz. bottle, pours a red rose-light brown color with some haze, gave an off-white head and some effervescence bubbles, aromas of bread, malt and yeast with honey and faint fruit sweetness, flavor of bready malt, some caramel, faint fruit and light toasted malt? Malt sweetness was tasted through out the drink, has some hop bitterness that sort of reveals itself more at the finish, I was surprised how much sweetness was in this ale, nice drink
2.9 Medium amber color. Light malt, earthy aroma. Sweet creamy mouthfeel, nice texture. Has a watery, grape aftertaste. Would make a nice fresh cask ale.
2.6 Pours a caramel-amber with a 1 inch head. Flavor is of honey and malt, with some gnarly upleasant skunkiness coating the mouth at the end. Overall decent, but would’ve been much more enjoyable without that odd nastiness at the end. Overall, fair+.
2.8 12 oz bottle. Poured a dark amber color with a thin off white head. The aroma was floral and bready. The flavor was malty, with a citrus finish.
3.0 Interesting. It has a weak smell but a strangely sweet taste. Not quite fruity but smacks of sweetness.
2.9 12oz bottle, twist-off. Deep copper color. Bready with a rich perfumy aroma. Sweet malt, nice grain, light - mild hop bitterness. Good pub beer, definately an English Pale Ale. Low bitterness, clean malt character, finishes bready, light bodied. Cheers.
3.1 bready, sweet pale ale. Finish is a bit salty/yeasty. Hops could use a little more presence, but i guess this is an english pale, not an american. Bitterness is there, but not overpowering. Not bad, but not great either.
2.5 Bottle 355ml Appearance: moderate amber with extra large creamy pour on top. Nose: Soft , gentle velvet like creamy hop aroma , hint of crystal malts with earthy nutty side.6+ Flavor/Palate :Medium light bodied. Nutty mats with British bitterness , slightly acidic . Some alcohol found. Simply boring, unspectacular bitter ale.
3.0 Pours deep amber into a Sam glass. Medium head leaves spot lacing as it slowly recedes. Caramel malt aromas. Sweet caramel and quite carbonated upfront. Dry, sour and stale finish.
