Wicked Weed Fille de Ferme

Wicked Weed Fille de Ferme

A tart farmhouse ale brewed in the rustic spirit of Belgian style farm beers. Primary fermented with our house Brett culture, and blended with Golden Sour Ale, we then add honeysuckle and fresh orange peel and age the beer in our Foedre until it reaches perfection.

3.8 13-12-2020; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, #13 of Beery Christmas 2020). The looks of the beer are simple. Pale yellow colour, with a whitish glow. It is very pale. The beer is very cloudy. On top there is some rough white foam. Foam retention is low and nothin is left on the beer, not even the slightest drape. Don't know what to expect based on the looks. The aroma of the beer is nice. Malts give a grainy base, with a slight bready touch. Nothing too special. The added ingredients give some nice fruity notes, orange and nice citrus zest. Also som nice floral notes. There is a nice touch of honey in the back. The hops give some floral notes and some citrus notes too. There are also some nice funky yeast aromas, lovely with the citrus. Nice barnyard aromas. It is a very nice bouquet. The taste of the beer is nice. Sweet malts, bitter hops, nice citrusy sour. And also, a lovely tarty sourness from the Brett. It is very well balanced. The palate of the beer is nice. Medium body, slightly dry but style specific and medium carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice. Lovely citrus, floral note, nice Brett. All in all, a great beer. Not my favorite style, but this is a great version. Nice. Not over the top.
2.3 Low in alcohol, bright yellow, little hazy. The head is clear white, but goes very fast. No lacing on the glass. Aroma of a barn and green Granny Smith apples. Taste is dominant sour. Little to dominant to my taste. Orange zest with green apple. Pairs good with a nice grilled or smoked salmon. (Not so much the advised cod)
3.4 Wicked Weed Fille de Ferme 4.2%. Cloudy golden, sour green apple and peach aroma, light bodied, pale malt, sour green apple, peach. Pleasant Saison from Asheville, North Carolina 🇺🇸

3.7 A good tart sour beer. Quite clean otherwise. The honeysuckle and orange peel are mild, but very nicely complement and balance the beer, not so funky as might be expected from the brett, but also a nice contribution. Beer xmas 2020

Jeden Cent wert.
