Wicked Weed Royal Cache - Amorous

Wicked Weed Royal Cache - Amorous

Massively dry-hopped American Sour Ale

Amorous is aged in red wine barrels for approximately 8-10 months and then dry-hopped with over 3.5 pounds per barrel. We love this beer both fresh off the dry hop and cellar aged.

4.1 Orange, near copper. Nose of mild grapefruit hops, lactic lemon citrus, oak, bretty leather and faint red merlot. Flavor sour lemon and red wine with oak and vanilla.
3.8 Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy straw with frothy, off-white head. Nose is red grapes, oak, hops. Tastes tart, with grapes. oak, hops, like an oaky red wine with more hops and some champagney finish.
3.2 Tap at Churchkey into a snifter showing well filtered orange and sparse white foam. The nose shows bretty funk with tart cherry, apricot, and light oranges without an citrus edge. The palate is highly carbonated and medium bodied. Moderately tart with a distinct lack of flavor throughout – no malt, no fruit, nothing. It’s almost drinking seltzer water with a slight tartness. Texture shows the light tannins from the barrel that leave the palate slightly dry. The finish shows a whisper of the same fruit notes found on the nose but once again nothing. Light hints of this fruit appears upon warming up but once again too subtle to be enjoyable.
