Widmer Brothers Deadlift Imperial IPA

Widmer Brothers Deadlift Imperial IPA

Deadlift Imperial IPA is unlike any Imperial IPA you’ve ever lifted from the beer aisle. It has the strong hop flavor you’d expect from an Imperial IPA but no heaviness that could weigh down your desire to take another sip. The unique flavor stems in part from Nelson Sauvin hops imported from New Zealand. Deadlift’s other component, a simple but fully braced malt backbone muscles up enough malty sweetness and caramel character to spot the incredibly robust hop flavor and aroma.

Deadlift Imperial IPA uses Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand’s best hop growing region: South Island’s Nelson. This region produces some of the most flavorful hops found anywhere. These hops have an intense citrus, fruity, berry-like aroma and flavor that makes them unique. The result will surely be a welcome workout for your taste buds.

3.0 Sweet hay hops nose. Dark orange. Kind of flat light fast going short gritty grassy note. Not impressed.
3.3 Gold color. Scumy head. Sweet hop taste. Round sweet malt front. Big hop taste but not too bitter actually. The alcohol really brings this all together.
3.9 Bottle, 355 ml as Nelson Imperial IPA, at Kulovy Blesk, Prague. Pours orange with small off-white head. Hoppy pine aroma. Fruit, pine, hops, caramel flavor. Bitter finish.
3.4 Rated from notes taken 28 Aug 2011 -- Very much enjoyed this. Might be my favorite beer from Widmer. Grassy hops and malt body are yummy.
4.5 Erg lekker !
3.2 Hoopy and sweet nose, apricit and hops fullbody and some sweetnes fine length
3.3 "two Deadlifts on the site - this one has the full name, but the abv is too high (8.6 on the bottle). i was looking forward to this one, but it finished near the bottom at a recent hoppy tasting, even below some pale ales. bitter hops but not very floral. a little piney as well, but malt dominated. not what i look for in a dbl ipa. brrr is better. repackaged 22 as Nelson - fresher, better. average 3.0 & 3.7. "
3.8 Bottle: Nelson Imperial IPA. Cloudy amber, thick and frothy offwhite head. Sweet, fruity hop aroma. Flavour has juicy grapes and caramel, bubblegum. Creamy mouthfeel, controlled bitterness
3.1 355ml bottle as Nelson Imperial IPA, 8. 6% abv, shared at the Muru Bar in Joensuu. Bright dark golden pour. Just a few bubble on the surface. Dried fruity aroma, notes of alcohol. Drying taste profile of apricot, honey and ripe orange. Dry bittersweet finish. Notiecable alcohol. Heavy to drink (17.08.2014).
2.6 Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, toffee, light aged hops, and a hint of fruit. It pours a hazy (bordering on cloudy) with a one finger off-white head that settles at a thick film. Thick soapy rings are left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate caramel and toffee. The finish has some aged citrus hops and a touch of fruit. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, another of many IPA/IIPAs with way too much caramel and toffee.
3.7 bottled, labelled nelson imperial ipa - thanks skykob. clear golden with a lingering head; decent balance of caramel and pancake dough character and tropical hops; medium bitterness, lightly piney. very drinkable

3.7 Bottle as Widmer Brothers Nelson Imperial IPA from bier-deluxe.de. Deep orange color with medium off-white head. Nice strong citrus hoppy aroma with honey. Taste, solid malty base with honey followed by nice hoppy kick with frapefruit, grapefruit zest, tropical fruits, pines. Long bitter sweet finish. Good.
4.5 Fruity fresh aroma with grapes, apricot, banana ice-cream, watermelon, candy, vanilla, caramel, dough, pale, hazy, white foam. medium sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, umami taste. Medium body, creamy, lively, bitter, long finish.
3.4 Good Nilson IPA without being fantastic. Got a shock when I saw it to be 8.6% I had guessed at 7%.
3.8 27 June 2014, bottle. Light orange, clear, occasional bubbles. Nose is sugary raisin and granola. Med/full body and mildly fizzy. Sweet cherries, raisins, mild alcohol, some grassy hops. Soft pink grapefruit citrus Med body and a bit fizzy. Orange peel and some grapefruit citrus. Slightly sweet up front (orange juice) but bitter grapefruit pith kicks in and lingers
3.7 Bona cervesa, bastant equilibrada i gustosa. Buena cerveza, bastante equilibrada y sabrosa.
---- Soberness not garanteed!
3.8 Dunkel gyllen farve med lite lys beige skum. Lukt av honning og sitrusfrukter. Smak grapefrukt og karamell. Fruktig og bitter avslutning. Melkebaren.
3.4 Bottle as Nelson Imperial IPA. Pours a dark orange with a medium, brownish head. Aroma is caramel, somewhat dank, some stone fruit. Some tropical fruitiness. Taste is caramel, fairly fresh, some stone fruit and exotic fruitiness. Somewhat barleywine like. Some resin. Medium with medium carbonation.
3.7 355ml bottle as Nelson IIPA, enjoyed at home. Hazy, light amber, lasting, lacing, thick white head. Does not get much better looking than this. Aroma has pine, caramel and berries, some herbal notes perhaps. Flavor has grapefruit, strong bitterness, balanced by the growing sweetness in the finish. Probably not very fresh, but this is enjoyable. This is so balanced. Lacks thr fresh fruitiness, but other than that, a very good IIPA.
3.5 Bottle at ruby&fellas, tampere. Cloudy deep golden color, white head. Aroma is nicely malty and hoppy. Sweet malty body, but fruity and hoppy. Basic iipa.
4.0 I had a bottle of Nelson imperial IPA, but apparently this is the same with different name. Loved this really much, full bodied, full of fruity aromas, tropical fruits. A bit of sweetness balanced with the strong alcohol.
3.8 Clean dark golden color, big beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt, herbs and some fruits. Taste has similar notes, mostly sweet with bitter hoppy finish.
3.6 0.33L bottle. Cloudy amber color with tiny head. Fruity, Pineapple aroma. Vegetable, boiled carrot, very light soy, light spices. Very well combined flavors. Very easy to drink and taste is very fine. Medium bitter finish. Lemon orange mix mouthfeeling.
4.1 Very "easy" but enjoyable imperial IPA with relatively thin body and well balanced bitterness.
Stickig alkohol. Oljig munkänsla.
