3.8 This is good beer out of the tap or bottle especially if its really cold. I’ve found that those of us who like it like it a lot and buy it all the time. Its good "take anywhere" micro brew.
2.4 Bottled: unk A: golden ale with brilliant clarity and little head formation. No lacing. S: grain, Munich malts. Barely anything else. T: sweet. Way too sweet for a beer. M: medium with moderate to hi carb. O: used to like this beer. No more. Too sweet for an amber. Serving type: bottle 05-28-2011
3.2 Mild taste and spell. Very easy to drink and has a milky aftertaste that diminishes quickly
2.5 Taste is smooth, simple, sweet and creamy, with a hint of espresso and reminiscence of vaguely fruity caramel. Worth sessioning.
3.5 Appearance- Golden amber, with a clean white head. Head disappeared rather quickly. Aroma- Light malty smell with a fruity citrus undertone. T/P- Nice clean taste a bit fruity on first taste, has a bit of a hoppy slightly bitter aftertaste, but by no means harsh Overall- Very drinkable, can have several and not get tired of them. Better on warmer days
2.7 Not impressed, just an average rating. Appearance is bland, with little head on amber body Aroma is light malt, taste is malt and some caramel. This is on the 1001 Beers to Try list, but can’t figure out why....
2.8 Bottle bought by a friend who visited Portland. Clear amber with a large white head. Some light fruit, cookies, malt and light hops. On the thin side. Drinkable but nothing special.
2.6 12oz bottle. bread and carmel, not much happening. beery, but not real beer. c’st la vie
2.8 bottle. Amber with small head. Fairly generic amber ale. Smooth and well balanced though.
3.5 A bit of bready malt in the nose, with some vaguely tart fruity character, accompanied by a balanced, freshly herbal hop presence. The taste has a somewhat biscuity flavor up front with some caramel sweetness. Surprisingly tart in the end, although not over the top. Hop bitterness is middle-of-the-road, with a balanced fruity and herbal flavor. Not bad.
2.3 Light caramel sweetness detected, not much of hoppiness. Quite disappointingly bland, but nothing offensive here either. Preferable to bulk lagers any day.
2.2 This beer smells incredible, but does not taste like it smells. It has a nice caramel aroma to it, but is way too carbonated and has a quick drying finish. Those same caramel notes come rushing back when you swallow... but they are dry and weak. This is a good beer for someone that doesn’t know what craft beer is. Plus, I love the label. The dog is adorable! I am glad that this is on our 1001 Bottles list, but I wouldn’t order it again.
3.6 A finger and a half of head on a clear, medium straw colored body. The aroma is milled grain, hay and orange. NIce. The flavor is smooth with a mild malt sweet and mild lemon bitterness. The texture is soft with moderate carbonation. It’s tasty and sessionable.
2.0 On tap @ Wingers, Elko, NV. Pours a clear medium amber w/ minimal head. Not too much taste to speak of, some malt, but fairly watery and bland. Goes down like a light beer, but surprisingly has a decent aftertaste.
2.9 Bottle: A creamy, flavorful Amber that’s smooth and easy to drink. Drop Top is fermented by an American Ale yeast to produce beer with a clean flavor and fruity aroma. 3.0 My wife bought this - I’m not sure why - but it’s in the house, so I guess I’ll rate it - clear dark copper - creamy, well-sustained head - nose of lightly floral hops, light caramel sweetness, a bit of biscuity malt - light body - creamy texture - nothing offensive here, but pretty darn boring - some toasted grain, some bready malt - lightly estery on the tail end, with mildly peppery hops - bland, but drinkable.
2.9 12 ounce bottle at the Beerhive. Pours a clear amber color with a medium white head. No nose, I mean you’d have to struggle with olfactory greatness to achieve much. Light apricots, biscuit, watery, nothing offensive and very light.
2.5 Gold, clear, white head. No detectable aroma. Flavor is neutral malt with some crystal malt sweetness, finish is on sweet side.
4.0 Nice easy drinking amber. Clean Flavor with slight sweetness. Very little hop presence. Enough for bittering and some help towards aroma but the honey malt and milk sugar stand out. A general go to when wanting something pleasant to drink.
2.4 This ale poured a med amber colour with a big, frothy, off white head. No lacing. To the nose there are scents of gravy, malt and light caramel. First sip was smooth but a little watery with nothing really strong in its flavour but malt and very minute amount of hops. Finish is watery and lifeless but drinkable. Just nothing special.
3.2 355ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a small white head that leves little lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and cereal grains with some grassy and citrusy hop bitterness. Taste is light citrus and grassy hop bitterness with and underlying grainy malty sweetness. Light bodied and moderately carbonated. A good sessionable beer.
3.0 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a thin off-white head that fades and leaves very little lace. The aroma is mild malt with some leafy hops in the nose as well. The flavor is light with a refreshing tang. Not bad as a basic beer but not really notable.
3.6 nice beer that is always easy to find here in boise. smooth with out over powering. Somewhat of a classic brown which is my favorite style.
2.6 Golden amber, with a clean white head. The aroma is of caramelized malt, tea and a faint touch of hops. The taste is very malty with flavors of sweet caramel, spicy tea and a touch of fruit. A bit of sticky finish.
3.4 bottle. nice medium amber color and balanced flavor. overall decent amber ale but i can think of several others i’d reach for first.
4.1 Not the best beer but it is great for a summer day. This is also one of the beers that got me into craft brewing so it has some sentimental value.
2.1 New stock label is not as cool as the old style. This beer is true to form, but seems like it’s relying on artificial flavors. Kind of syrupy. Hard to drink.
2.6 Sample bottle. Pours a light copper/red color, but thin and watery looking. Head was there, but few aromas of weak hops. Wow what a straight forward beer, barley any flavors. Malt and hops were thin, but I suppose if you wanted a lighter summery beer with little taste this is it.
2.8 A slightly dry, bran-y nose. High in fibre!? Very cereally and smooth on the palate with a long bran finish. A little boring and I’m not sure it would be too sessionable without getting too sweet.
2.9 Hazy amber with a quickly dissolving tan head. Aroma of grains, some caramel, a bit of sourness and light fruit. Taste is more malted than hopped with caramel, mild hops and not much else.
