3.1 Light brown beer, fizzy. Mellow aroma of floral and malt. Taste is moderate and pleasant... somewhat sweet. Good beer.
2.7 Aromas are bready, caramel, subtle chocolate, earthy. Mostly clear, orange, fully fading head. Toasty, some caramel. Medium bodied.
2.6 Bland and unmemorable, watery, generic tasting. Very faint aroma and flavors, no finish.
3.4 This is a decent Octoberfest. Little bitter on the back of your mouth. My wife likes this one better than me she gets a couple 6 packs every October.
3.0 Pours amber with a medium white head. Aroma is caramel, toast and nuts. Taste is sweet with trace bitters. Crisp and refreshing
3.1 Tap, gold pour, white head, nose is grassy, taste is some citrus, lemons maybe, okay
1.8 Mild beer. Malty flavor and decent floral tones. Not bad but doesn't feel like a fall beer.
3.0 Not a bad oktoberfest. Oranish, defined by its sweet maltiness. Some orange and a lot of caramel.
3.3 Amber orange. Nose of sweet toasted malt and mild hops. Flavor is mid to heavy toasted malt and biscuit with a mild sweetness in the middle with medium hop bitterness in the finish. Decent.
3.8 Clear deep darkish copper with a thin light beige head. Good nose of biscuity caramel. The flavor has this biscuity caramelly nuttiness that’s off dry and toasty and smooth and everything right about marzens. A bit deeper and a bit more "molassesy" than a standard Oktoberfest but I love it.
2.7 12oz bottle picked up at The Grapevine Clear golden with a medium sized off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is malty, sweet caramel and spices. Taste of caramel and sweet malts Not for me
2.2 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a medium orange/amber, with a large white head that quickly fades. fair lacing. Nose is virtually nonexistent. Taste is flat, not much flavor there. Just tasted hop finish. Pretty mediocre beer for Widmer Bros. Too bad-I was expecting better.
3.3 "nice! served on Delta connections flight. gotta love that. good quality marzen here. nutty aroma, tastes and smells of sweet malt per the style as well. nothing super-special, but nicely made."
3.1 Nice on palate. Goes down nicely. Bought a case of it and I am very happy. Has a nice finish
2.9 Bottle from a mix pack. Smells more like a lager than an ale, as I get a lot of corn and grains in there like a marzen. Taste is moderately crispe and has some subtle toasting to it. Meh.
2.3 Drank from a twelve ounce bottle purchased at Wegmans. Nice floral notes. Very bready taste. Not impressed at all by this Oktoberfest brew.
2.6 Draught at Fish Tale Brewpub in Everett Hazy dark amber color. The aroma is a bit fruity, the flavor is semi-sweet, with poor malt, a bit stale, and low bitterness. Not interesting.
3.4 Amber colored white head. Crisp, slightly floral and malt forward. Clean and easy drinking. Good and simple
3.0 Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has bread and grains with a bit of sweetness from a biscuit note. Flavor has a strong earthy grain and bread note with a hint of underlying sweetness.
3.4 Clear, amber pour with a white head. The aroma has a malty backbone along with earthy hops. It has a medium body with creamy texture and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with just a touch of roasted malt.
3.7 Transfer from BA review on 8-30-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a nice deep auburn –copper color with a two finger foamy off white head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time as big bubbles pop within the foam, leaving a tiny level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a heaviest of a roasted malt smell mixed with some caramel notes. Along with these smells are some light aromas of roasted nut, apple, and a bit of spice. Taste – The taste begins with a crisp roasted and slightly bready taste. Upfront there is some caramel sweetness and a little bit of a spice. As the taste advances it temporarily sweetens up a decent sum as flavors of apple join the caramel. Soon the caramel fades as the apple maintains it strength drying out the brew once again. While this occurs the roasted flavors grow stronger and are joined by a light toasted nut taste. With more spice flavors and a light floral taste coming to the tongue at the end, a rather crisp and lightly roasted flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium to lighter side with the carbonation level begins just a tad above normal. Both accentuate the lighter fruit and caramel flavors all while creating a more crisp feel that is very good for the style. Overall – A rather crisp and enjoyable brew overall with a nice blend of roasted flavors, light sweeter flavors, and spice flavors which overall create an easy drinker.
3.4 Sweet bready, caramel malt bill works well however there’s not really enough noble hop presence to balance it out. Solid and inoffensive nonetheless.
3.5 Date bottom right corner reads in white "July 18 14." This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a semi - dark red color with about a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. The lacing tries to concave a bit but spreads out to a nice semi - thick white foamy lacing. The smell has a nice rich sticky sweet caramel maltiness running through a light roasty nuttiness and then a light toffee comes across nicely. The taste was mainly malty sweet with a thorough caramel rich nutty flavoring, light breadiness coming in as well. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. There’s a nice sticky sweet caramel aftertaste that lead to a semi - dry finish. Overall, I’m not exactly sure why this labeled an Amber ale on ratebeer but if anything, this one definitely lives up to the Oktoberfest style, I could definitely do this again.
3.1 Bottle from Whole Foods in Redwood City, CA. Pours a deep amber. Aroma is malts and brown sugar. Taste is some maltiness and quickly dissipates to light tea water. Must try again over ice.
2.4 A little caramelized malt and a touch of smoke with some rust. Pours copper without much head or lacing. Light sourness on finish. Some mash malt. Bottle from Chevy Chase.
2.9 Bottle. A: Deep clear auburn with a disappearing white head. Touch of lacing. N: Toffee and caramel. Hint of pine. Biscuit and cracker. Touch of burnt brown sugar. T: Mildly sweet; not much in the way of bitterness. M: Medium - light body which dips into watery territory. O: Octoberfest for the non - German. Clean and malty but lacks in many areas.
3.5 appearance: amber~copper color. not so clear. aroma: citrus, floral, bread, sweet. taste: starts with high malt sweetness, ends with moderate hop bitter. also pumkin-like taste, citrus and little grassy exist. palate: medium body i think. medium carbonation. overall: quite good to drink in free atmosphere. not impressive, but comfortable and drinkable.
3.4 Bomber. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. Sweet nutty fruity nose. The flavor is toffee, a bit of sweet vegetal fruity flavors. Quite clean and smooth. A nice oktoberfest.
3.0 Pours an amber color with off-white head. Very malty on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a weird floral note thrown in.
2.6 @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma beats the taste - nice floral malt. Clear deep amber with a thin head cover, no lace. Taste is sweet malt that adds a light bitter near the end, but it gives up way before it gets there. Certainly easy to quaff, because there isn’t much flavor or body to get in the way. Outside of aroma, disappointing.
