Wild Beer Fresh

Wild Beer Fresh

Cask, keg & bottle; Regular.

We have a passion for flavour and a lust for hops — this frisky, fragrant pale ale is the result. Whilst consistency is (rightly) the benchmark of most beers, we’ve gone Wild with Fresh and thrown away the rulebook. Every six months we source some of the most exciting hops from both the northern and southern hemispheres, which means two hop harvests and two excitingly different hop profiles.

Given the unpredictability of each harvest we’ll leave it to you to discover the individual aromas and tastes, but you’ll be guaranteed a punchy hop character alongside an appetising bitterness and a crisp dry finish that will send you back for more. This is a beer we like to drink all through the year. We think you will too.

The first brew of Fresh has copious amounts of New Zealand hops in it. We particularly love the sherbet lemon aromas in the Southern Cross.

3.4 Tap. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is resinous, pale malts, hay,. Taste is resinous, piney, pale malts, leafy, bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Fun!
3.2 Tap at Frisches Bier. Medium light mellow, lightly medicinal, dry light grain, alright hop counterpoint, feels like a bitter.
3.4 Buona, semplice, fresca, amaro contenuto, buone note fruttate, bassa carbonazione.
3.9 Enjoyed this. Hoppy and light with gooseberry and citrus. Biscuity flavours too. Not a full on IPA but a very nice hoppy pale.
3.0 Citrusy hops mainly lemon. Finish is doughy and a bit salty. Could have been more carbonated.
3.1 Tight bubbly white head stayed on a hazy light lemon coloured still body. Chalk, citrus & hops aroma. Medium to thin bodied, soft over the palate with a tingle down the back - too watery. Big hoppy punch with peach, grass, zest & tangy citrus.
3.5 29/3/2019. Draught at the Three Wise Monkeys, Ipswich. Pours slightly hazy pale gold with a small off-white head leaving good lacing. Aroma of citrus lemon, light tropical fruit, melon, grapefruit, light caramel and pine. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, average carbonation. Light lasting bitterness to finish.
2.9 Fruity aroma, mostly pineapple. Hazy yellow color with no head. Sweet taste, fruity and citrusy. Thin body, soft carbonation.
4.2 I am generally generous in ratings, but this is a truly lovely beer! Beautifully bodied, full murky-hazy- powerful beer full of flavour and happiness in its expectation of victory over your palate. In sports term think Sirena Williams on set point. Floral notes galore, yet bitter enough after taste to remind you it is still beer we are drinking. Really nice balance of flavours that are a credit to its German hops inclusion. Well done Shepton Mallet 😊
3.7 En fin smag af de amerikanske humler, den har også en del sødme, som passer fin til den klare citrussmag.
2.7 330ml bottle sampled in Zizzi's Glasgow on the 5th October 2018. Clear gold in colour with a thin white head. Hoppy aroma with light citrus fruit present. Thin resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malt gives a light digestive biscuit backbone adding a bit of balance as gooseberry fruit starts to impinge on proceedings. Hoppy aftertaste as tart resins impart a dusty citrus overtone to the palate. Finish is dry with citrus pith evident on the mouth. Went well with the pizza but not the fudge brownie unfortunately
3.2 Bottle at the Thirsty Bear, Reading. A lightly hazed gold beer with a thin white head. It tastes... well, fresh. There's hints of citrus (especially lime), pine and spice, but they're pretty light. Finish is... yep, fresh is about it. It lives up to its name and not a lot else. So, a lightweight in the style, but it's pleasant and easy to drink, if rather forgettable.
3.5 Bottle from Wild Beer selection pack picked up in Waitrose. Comet and Cascade hops. Pours straw coloured with a slight haze, quickly diminishing white cap, a little lacing on glass. Grassy bright aroma. Clean hoppy pale with citrus and grass taste with very little sweetness. Good.
3.3 Keg at the Grain & Hop Store, Cambridge. Golden and flat. Gentle aroma of mango and lemonade with a biscuity malt note. Fruity bittersweet taste with a short to medium finish. No surprises whatsoever here. This is a by-the-numbers pale ale, but certainly a decent one.
3.2 Bottle from Waitrose, this is the version with Hallertau Cascade & Comet. Pours golden with a faint haze and a spicy-hoppy nose with hints of caramel and yeast. Dry and bitter, with underlying tones of caramel and a touch of citrus.
3.3 Bottle, from Waitrose. Yellow gold, thin but lasting white head and low condition. Good solid citrusy grapefruit and berry fruitiness over a muted sweet grain note in the nose, quite full and sweet in the mouth with a gentle chalky bitterness and a soft citrus hop note with a slight tangy fruitiness, lingering but muted hop resin bitterness in the finish.
4.1 Can bought from Wetherspoons. Pours yellow with lots of carbonation. Very easy to drink this and can quite happily drink lots of this
3.5 Pours a golden color with strong thick white head. Dry piney hop aroma and taste with a clean finish. Notes: on tap at Bugsy’s, Paris Apr ‘18
3.1 Spritziger, fein hopfiger Beginn. Geringe Süße, minimal bitter, langer hopfiger Nachhall. Gut. 10/9/11/10//9
3.4 Can from Pivny raj. Hazy yellow golden colour, white head. Aroma is mostly hops, some tropical and citrus fruits, lychee, pineapple. Sligthly grassy. Some bisquity malty notes. Taste is hops oriented, tropical fruits, lychee, some pine notes. Pleasant Moderate bitterness and nice carbonation. Easily drinkable and refreshing. Good one.
3.2 330ml bottle at home on 1st June 2018, shared with no one. Hazy golden body, white pillow on top. Mild tropical fruit aroma and taste, hop centric throughout.
3.6 [10189-20180301] 330mL can. Orange lemon peel aroma. Hazy, orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Bitter lemon orange citrus peel flavour. Medium body. Good. (7/4/7/4/14) 3.6 (@ The Bucket List, Swansea, Wales)
3.2 Can, 0.33l. Aroma of citrus, passion fruit, pineapple, biscuit and grass. Pours deep straw color with medium frothy white head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with mild sweet biscuit malt, following is fruity and grassy, mouthfeel is smooth and light spicy, while finish is moderate bitter. Light to medium body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. Not bad, but so indistinguishable...
3.3 Can from a bottleshop in Edinburgh. Nose is lots of citrus, zesty hay, orange. Palate is bitter orange, citrus, some grass, some pines. Bitter finish. Quite nice.
3.1 Tin from Gloucester Services, 19/08/17. Diaphanous blonde with a slim white head. Slightly sharp kumquat and lime citrus with pale nut and pollen nose. Moderate condition approaching flat; wet biscuit and pale nut base, curry leaf and lemon zest hops, medium bitterness with slightly soapy and bilious elements to follow. Doesn't sing with freshness. Averagely good. Not worth a revisit.
3.5 2018-03-01. Hazy orange body, nice foamy beige head and lace. 3+ Aroma of tangerine and lemon. Flavour is pleasantly citrusy up front, moderate bitterness. Average bodied palate, good carbonation. Better than expected after it gushed out of the can. 7/3-4/7/3/15 Can at The Bucket List, Swansea.
