Wild Beer Wildebeest

Wild Beer Wildebeest

CHOCOLATE + VANILLA + COFFEE

Ideal for contemplation and speculation, this is the liquid equivalent of the lotus position. Featuring freshly ground coffee, cacao nibs, and Madagascan Vanilla pods.

Brewed as an experiential beer with a time and place in mind for its enjoyment. Winter months are suggested, open fires are preferable and armchairs are close to compulsory!

We team up with Clifton Coffee in Bristol for the beans used in Wildebeest, trialing espresso shots and French press before we settling on whole beans. The cocoa nibs are Vhalrona which were recommended as the best by chocolatiers and the vanilla pods Madagascan.

It's a judicious selection of pale and dark malts adding to the decadence and making this beer like a beautifully rich dessert in a glass.

3.9 Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, chocolate, vanilla, roasty notes, light coffee, light sweet, medium bitter. Full body, malty chocolate bitter sweet finish with light alcohol warming notes. Good.
3.8 Draught at BeerGeek Bar. Cloudy, dark red to black colored. AROMA- sweet, cocoa nibs, sugar candies. FLAVOR- sweet, lightly bitter, cocoa nibs and sugar candies again. Medium to fuller bodied. Good, sweet, but too young.
3.7 Tap at BeerGeek Bar. Pitch black, brownish head. Cookie aroma, quite pleasant, chocolate, figs, caramel, brittle... very light tartness too though. Lean taste, leaner than expected, cookies, vanilla, chocolate, some peppery/spicy bitterness and herbal touches in the dry finish. Highly promising but just slightly too undefined and unrefined.
4.0 Tap at Beergeek. Very rich roasty malty character, loads of cocoa, chocolate, a bit if milk. Really great beer, very tasty, very good.
3.4 Bottle at home Appearance - still, very very dark brown bordering on black. No head. Aroma - Roasted malts, toasty, coffee. Taste - Surprisingly bracing acid/sourness up front followed by a hit of lingering toasty / chocolate sweetness with some bright coffee acidity. Liquorice-y finish. Body - Very thick, a little too much for me. Not super boozy, but perhaps a touch hot, too. Overall - Not bad but a bit unsubtle and not a fan of the liquorice notes.
4.2 LCI. Uit de fles geschonken. Mooie RIS met smaken van koffie, chocola en een beetje vanille, mooi vol en in balans. Heerlijk!
3.8 330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Dissipating fawn-coloured head leaving dotted spots on the glass. Near-black in body apearance. Roasted cocoa nose with vanilla sweetness. Comprehensive taste profile including coffee-choco and liquorice supported by a backdrop of dark berries. Long-lived vanilla mid-sweet ending. Full bodied. Excellent sipper on a lazy Saturday afternoon. (Tromsø 01.06.2019).

3.8 Bottle. Pours black. Roasted, coffee, dark chocolate, red wine. Full bodied. Oily.
4.0 330ml bottle served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark oily black color forming a small medium creamy tan head with medium to low retention that forms and leaves some spotty lacings in the glass. Nose is sweet and roasty. Strong notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee beans, vanilla, licorice and wood. Slightly booze. Sweet upfront taste. Again, strong notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee beans, vanilla, licorice and oak. Medium grassy bitterness. Good bittersweet balance. Heavy body. Low carbonation. Roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Great British Imperial Stout.
3.9 0,33 bottle from Alko. Heavy aroma of coffee, espresso, chocolate, moderately roasted malts, vanilla, sweetness, alcohol. Rich sweet taste. Fullish body, above medium bitterness, quite dry. Medium carbonation. Well done and enjoyable IS, but doesn't get to the excellent beer level. Really good though.

3.8 A pitch black beer, a head is quite small and light brown. Aroma has maltyness, coffee, quite strong sweetness of syrup and malts, slight mustyness, low liquorice. Taste is powerful, salt liquorice, coffee, toffeeish maltyness, wood. Full bodied. Something annoying here, but tasteful beer anyway.

4.7 ImpyAttack👌Nibby, coffeetart & lovely warm😀also alles da😍 Breakfast Stout Style⚡💋 fein säuerlich, immer extrembeery & MY OILY ONE🙂🚀 0,33l Bottle von Maltiiii...CBA2018.
4.3 Black beer, thin head. Big rich chocolatey malty aroma. Taste is chocolate, malt, liquorice, a touch of vanilla. Rich with a lovely, smooth but dry malty aftertaste, What you want from an imperial stout.
