Wild Goose Amber

Wild Goose Amber

Classic English-style amber ale with a full, malty body and a robust hop flourish. Its rich copper color comes from British Crystal and Chocolate malts. The round maltiness is perfectly balanced with a spicy blend of Williamette, Hallertauer, Tettnang, and Cascade hops.

3.1 Bottle. Pours amber with a beige head. Aroma has caramel, toast, and light floral hops. Medium body. Flavor is rather light, with caramel malt and floral hops. Not bad.
2.3 Bottle: Poured an amber color with a fluffly white head. Too much carbonation as it look me 10 minutes or more to pour the whole thing into a glass. The aroma was faint, sweet malts and hops. The flavor was just OK. I didn’t like the aftertaste which kind of tasted metallic. Overall, not a fan of this one.
3.5 Bottle. Pours amber with creamy white head. A chocolaty smell. Very good taste. Nice mildly hoppy.
3.4 12oz bottle. The pour is a nice amber-red color with a thin head of white cream. Some nice lacing as well. The aroma has a nice toasty sweet character that I like. The flavor is quite nice too. I can taste some of the hop varieties, although they are subtle. I’m pleasantly surprised by this unassuming little beer.
4.4 This poured a dark amber color into a pilsner glass. A fluffy, inch tall white head that left pretty good lacing on the glass all the way down. Not a real strong aroma. Some malt, some hops, but nothing that really stood out. Delicious, malty flavor with enough hops to balance. Very creamy, with the maltiness the primary flavor. Mouthfeel was creamy with just a slight carbonation. It was extremely smooth. Very drinkable beer. Before I knew it, I had already finished half the glass and was looking for more. I could drink these all day long.
2.6 Honey aroma with some crystal malts on the nose. Pours a light amber. Sweet malts with a slight hoppy flavor. There’s a cereal grain aftertaste. Not much here.
3.0 Bottle. Poured a clear amber/copper with a cream colored frothy head. Toffee, praline, lace cookie aroma. Caramel to toffee malt flavor with an earthy hop backing and a slightly spicy character. Medium to full bodied but a bit overcarbonated. Decent enough take on an English pub-style session, but nothing remarkable.
3.2 Bottle via the wife on her many and far flung travels. Not muchin the way of nose here, some Corny grain or wet cardboard. Body is light. Looks quite nice in the glass as the gold shimmers in the sunlight. A nice chainsaw repair beer. Head is ephemeral and fizzy. Went down quick.
2.8 Candied malt aroma, deep amber, small tan head. Taste is soft malt, woody notes, light bodied, balanced, some bitterness. Good. Thanks mds.
3.4 Dark amber appearance with a medium size head and nice lacing. Bready, sweet malt aroma. Well balanced flavors, with spicy, flowery hops playing off the chocolate malts. Pleasing on the palate if only a little thin. Average length, slightly bitter finish.
3.2 Another beer I tried on tap at the brewery in Frederick. The aroma was good but not too exciting, dominated by a roasty malt scent with a mix of caramel and chocolate. A good, sweet flavor with a healthy amount of character; some bitterness too. The beer had a deep amber-copper color with a moderate off-white head that had average retention and cling. It had a fairly fizzy and lively mouthfeel with average carbonation. Overall a quality beer with some good character.
3.3 From bottle... poured beautiful deep copper with short white head. Smelled kinds like a stale chocolate chip cookie (not bad... just interesting). Flavor was difficult to pinpoint. Kind of bitter, kind of sweet. Had a nice bubbling, but was disappointed when it left a slight film behind. Overall, pretty crisp and enjoyable, but I would have preferred a better flavor and finish.
3.0 pours a rusty amber with an off-white head. aroma is champagney, light malt/hop balance with some caramel. taste is a little malty, crisp, has some grape notes. though it’s not that bad, this one might be skunked, because i’m getting some weird flavors in comparison to other reviews. i’ll have to re-sample it. mid-bodied with a fizzy, prickly mouthfeel. not bad overall. refreshing-ish.
3.5 Pours a nice amber color with small off-white head. Aroma is some malt and hops. Taste is very nice balance between the malty sweetness and hop bitterness. Very nice beer.
3.3 Good-looking label. Beer has a nice amber color and a modest head. Aroma is nice and fresh. Flavor is somewhere between a porter and a pale ale or a bitter. I guess that is where an amber is supposed to be. Some interesting little complexities hit the taste buds - a little chocolate, a little citrus. Moderately hopped and not very sweet. Fairly light body and goes down easy. This could use a little more flavor, but it is a perfectly enjoyable brew.
3.5 Pours amber brown with a small off white head. Aroma is nice and of caramel malts. Taste is also of delicious caramel malt with a medium mouthful as well as being very smooth. This is one of the better amber ales I have had.
3.0 Bottle 330 ml Appearance: Clear amber , copper hue , light fizzy creamy ring 2+ Nose : Green hop aroma , light vanilla , sweet medium deep malt nose , rounded alcohol 7-. Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied , earthy frontal character. Sweet sticky malt behind. Some mineral feel found as well . Light bitter finish . Clean , satisfying ale.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a clear orange-copper with an average size mostly-lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, light Fuggles hops, a hint of chocolate and a bit of buttery toffee. Flavour of light caramel malt, Fuggles hops, grain, buttery toffee and an average bitter finish. Medium bodied. Decent enough, it’s kind of "English-style", I liked it.
2.6 Bottle. Pours a copper body with a creamy, light, off-white head. Aroma of vanilla, cookie dough, sugar, and bready caramel notes. Tastes a bit raw and bready - not overly flavourful. A somewhat sweet and toasty generic palate.
3.2 Smells light and hoppy. Pours a dark copper color with a small thin white head. Taste is a little watery but thick and malty. Slight coffee/chocolate malt flavor. Nice and dark amber.
3.2 bottle. Caramel colored. Roastiness, english bitterness, nice malt balance. Pretty good beer
3.3 Bottle (12oz). Deep clear copper, decent frothy off-white head, nice lacing. MUCH nicer aroma than their IPA - nice roast, pine/resin hops - nice for an amber, like TF light. The taste - meh, grain, very weak hops (nothing like the nose), nice dry finish. Lightly chewy body, dry, a whisper of astringency, not much carbonation - quick finish, dry lightly bitter aftertaste. Decent.
3.0 Light caramel aroma. Copper/ochre color, thin off white head. The taste is a little woody, but rather weak. A little buttery in the end when warm. Clean and good quality, but just very weak. Wanting in hops. Despite my rating, I like it, I ’m just craving more hops in this one. Is there such a thing as a beer apertif???
3.6 This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.
2.9 Bonus bottle from beachbum! Thanks again! Clear dark amber in color light head and some lacing. Great session beer, however it lave something to be desired. A little bland and watery. hints of yeast and hops!
3.1 Amber color and nice frothy head. Malty aroma and flavor with a hints of mild hops on the aftertaste. Good session beer.
3.0 This amber ale pours a medium amber gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head, which dissipates slowly. Aroma is toffee and caramel, slightly fruity and hoppy. Medium bodied amber. Malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and toffee. Hops are floral and spicy. Good balance. A biscuty and floral amber. Lively carbonation. Not bad at all. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
2.1 Very nice orange ruby color. Quality hard candy aroma. Some noticeable carbonation but fairly flat. Mild refined hop bitterness that’s less than many pilsners. Finish is slightly wet wood that has a medium length bitter impression.
4.0 12 oz bottle from sample case. Poured a nice amber color. Nice taste with a lot of flavor, but has a heavy water taste (iron?) which is ok being from western PA. Smooth finish with good aftertaste.
2.2 Bottle. Buttery caramel malt aroma. Dark amber with small head. Sharp acidic and bitter flavor up front with a light buttery malt flavor to finish. Get a matallic aftertaste - tastes like water softener water for the few that actually might understand that analogy. Decent but the metallic flavor kind of messed it up for me.
