3.5 Would be a higher score if price was considered. $6.50 for a warm sixer at liquor stores in Maryland. Medium sweetness, creamy, good summertime stout. Tastes awesome with seafood.
3.4 On tap at In de Wildeman. Dark brown, almost black with a small, beige head. Milk, good roast, molasses, caramel. On the sweet side, as expected from the style. Still nice with good complexity.
2.8 This beer is very pleasant, poors black to deep brown in color. The head leaves alot to be desired thin and gone quick. What it lacks in apperance it makes up for in taste.A nice balance between the classic stout flavor and a earthy oat note.Rich, robust and malty.
3.1 Tap @ The Beertemple, Amsterdam. Black colored brew. Aroma is roasted. Flavor is roasted malts with some tones of coffee and chocolate. Medium bitterness. Pretty plain.
3.5 On tap @ The Beertemple, Amsterdam. The aroma is roasted malty with coffee and mocha. Black coloured beer with an off-white, beige, lasting head. The taste is sweet, bitter. It has roast, coffee, milk chocolate and moccha. Medium bodied. Nice, easy goin stout.
3.4 On tap at Beer Temple. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and good coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, light sweet, light chocolate, coffee, but all very subdued. Medium bodied, soft and smooth mouthfeel. Easy drinking stout, not shocking, but just nice and decent stuff.
4.1 Bottled at Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Another very pleasant brew. Black appearance. Lactic notes, oatmeal. Very nice.
3.6 Tap @ Beer Temple. Dark color, short creamy head. Aroma of coffee, slight milky, some hop, roasted malt. Malty taste, creamy milk, milk chocolat. Quite enjoyable.

2.9 10th October 2008. GABF. Clear dark brown beer. Dry palate. Smooth, semi sweet malt. Toasty finish.
2.9 20091217 12oz bottle thanks to my pal Tom. Dark cola brown with small, fleeting tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with toasty bread, a bit of light vegetal, coffee, and wet leaves. Light, rather thin body would be more pleasing if the carbonation was a bit less aggressive. Flavorful for a light brew, plenty roasty, quite sweet, some lingering citrus acidity, mild licorice and vanilla.
2.3 Less than mediocre stout that tastes sugary and thin. Light body, very light body, and the roast complex is just lots of roasted malts. No dry qualities to it make it a watery lighter stout. Probably wouldn’t get again.
3.2 Bottle sent to me in a trade by ben4321. Thanks, Ben! At the time, I hadn’t rated any Maryland beers, but since then I’ve racked up quite a few. Aroma is roast, anise, and dark fruits. Flavor is pleasant but not great, with roast, anise, and dark fruits, especially grape and raisin, both sweet and mildly tart, along with some slight hops. Alcohol is a little more noticeable than it should be for a 6-percenter. Medium body with slight astringency on the palate. This is pretty average for a stout, enjoyable but nothing that blew me away.
3.5 Sweet nose, cola, nuts, chocolate. Dark brown, tan head. Palate is tangy, sweet, not real oily like I prefer in a sweet stout. A bit gritty, hoppy, maybe a tad out of balance, still pretty decent.
3.2 In an effort to knock out the rest of my backlog, my ratings will be fairly generic and sparse. If the beer had anything special to offer, it will be noted following this disclaimer. The number ratings above are accurate based on my tasting notes. Following the elimination of my backlog, all beers will be entered in real time and will be more useful. Sorry for the inconvenience. Surprisingly, not too bad of a stout. Decent sweetness and fairly mellow.
2.6 Appearance is clear brown, with red at the edges. Not much head, if any. The smell is sweet caramel and toffee. Some sour grape and raisin. Not much of the roasted, grainy balanced I had anticipated for this style. The taste is grapes, dates and prunes. Very sweet, with a hint of roasted caramel malts. Sweet plums. A tad musty but not bad. Some hints of grainy oats as it warms up. Dark berries. The feel is smooth like honey. Not as dry as I had expected. It’s very sweet and not nearly enough roasted balance. More like a dark or brown ale.
3.4 sampler pack Bottle. Pours dark dark red brown, tan head. Aroma is licorice, molasses, nuts, and malt. Flavor is molasses, caramel, malt, nuts, coffee. Light to medium body for a sweet stout.
3.3 Pours solid brown with a foamy tan head. Toast bread and nutty caramel aroma. The oatmeal seems to be more pronounced in this beer than most oatmeal stouts but it’s not unpleasant. Very roasty and toasty with some choc and coffee tones as well. Overall pretty good but I wish it had a thicker body.
3.6 bottle. pours dark with a nice fluffy tan head. some milk chocolate, roasted malts. creamy mouthfeel. not bad.
3.1 Beer of the month club last month. Tasty stout. Had this one last week but I wanted to sit on 800 for a bit... you know, let it LINGER.
3.5 Bottle. Black body with a tan-colored head, moslty lasting. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt, latte and toast. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavor, but the finish is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. The moderate bitter bite is a nice contrast to the sweet malts. Medium body with a creamy texture. Mild carbonation. Fairly straightforward oatmeal stout, but well done.
3.9 Smells of caramel, coffee, roasty malt, flavor is a mix of dark malts, caramel, chocolate, with a fadingly sweet aftertaste. Above average
3.9 Pours very dark brown with little to no head. Aroma has a slight roasted note. Had a hint of roast and chocolate flavor. Smooth drinking with flavor disappearing quickly. Overall a good tasting brew.
3.5 Pours black with no head. Taste and aroma are very similar - warm and smooth, dominated by nuts, and buttered bread. Some chocolate and very faint roastiness in the background. Very smooth, easy-drinking beer. Enjoyable too. Finish is very short.
4.0 A roasty slightly odd aroma. Flavor is quite sweet, some roast. A decent sweet stout, but perhaps a little on the too sweet side. Relatively heavy also.
3.5 12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown with mahogany highlights. No head per se. A dry, roasted malt aroma is present. Hints of coffee and caramel are also in the nose. Medium-high carbonation with a dry mouthfeel. Light coffee notes, brown sugar, caramel, and some oats are in the palate. It strikes me as a little overcarbonated. Overall the body is a hair on the light side, but it is still a solid beer with good drinkability.
3.6 Black in color...opaque. Thick, creamy head. Heavy malt aroma. Bold flavor of malt up front...slightly crisp mouthfeel. Malty sweetness in the back, with subtle hints of chocolate and oats...dry finish. Though simple in content and style, this brew is very well built and quite refreshing.
3.1 Black pour, but let light from a bulb through it, and a tan head. Could barely smell the sweetness of the brew. It is an o.k. beer but nothing about it could really set it apart from others.
3.6 12 oz bottle Thanks to Ughsmash for sending me one of these in a trade a few months ago. I finally got around to trying it and I had done so much sooner. This is what an oatmeal stout should aspire to be - a blend of a few simple flavors with enough taste to let you remember it but no so much they end up making something heavier. Aroma / Appearance - The short lived ocre head mixed with the black body. Hints of warm oatmeal cookie, chocolate chips, and a Starbucks iced coffee made it very inviting on a cold afternoon. Flavor / Palate - Creamy it coats the tongue in a nice array of tastes. Tasting like flat Dr Pepper it blends cherries, chocolate, and vanilla with oatmeal and a residual sweetness. A toned down version of Founder’s Breakfast Stout it is also much more affordable. Next time I run across Wild Goose beers I may have to give them another shot.
2.8 12 oz bottle purchased from Woody’s in Cool Springs. Poured a dark black color with a half finger of brown head. The aroma had notes of chocolate and oats, along with something that shouldn’t have been there that I couldn’t place. The flavor was strong with coffee and chocolate, but again, there was a twang that I couldn’t place. This wasn’t a horrible failure, but was just a little off. I will taste again and re-rate if different.
