3.0 Skipton Beer Festival 2016. Dark brown coloured ale. Grittier dark malt flavoured ale with a lingering tropical fruitiness.
3.6 Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A deep brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of peach, pine, roasted malts, some orange, slight chocolate and a little liquorice. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, some orange, slight peach, a little pine, liquorice and subtle coffee. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted, slight citrus hop bitterness in the finish. A decent Black IPA, not as oily as some are. Well balanced and not too overly hopped. Like a chocolate orange stout at times.
3.3 Cask 0,5l at Three Folks Roma Italy 04.12.2015.Pour it dark color with medium white head.Taste quite smoked, roadted malt, creamy, hoppy finish, not so balanced, not my jam actually.
3.4 On tap at Tree Folks pub in Rome-Italy. Pours black with some highlights, creamy brownish off white foam. Nose: toasted malts, bacon far away, basic hops. Mouth: easy drinking, some milky feel, burnt malts, hops are there but not aggressively characterizing it.

3.1 Cask@gallows. Black. Ashy roasty nose. Initially some citrus, pretty nice fresh feeling fruity notes, later mostly the roast, some rubbery sweet licorice. Med full bodied. Good bitters, soft full mouthfeel. Roasty, but stale flavour. Feels bit oldish, old dusty mehhy. -- bb
3.2 (Cask at Gallows Bird Magna Carta Real Ale Festival 2015) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had malts, liquorice and pine. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were smoke, liquorice, pine, burnt malts and low bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky, burnt and bitter. Not so good roasted and smoky brew.
3.5 Pours black, shocker. Has an off white head and a citrus smell, grapefruit? The taste is bitter then roasted and bitter again, nice.
3.8 Bottle from Ales By Mail; opaque black pour with a thin tan head, aroma has citrus plus chocolate, taste has citrus, chocolate, a hint of coffee, some smoke, hint of pine, nice roast, good bipa.

3.4 Cask. Sheffield Tap. Clear, dark chestnut brown. Thick, bubbly, lasting tan head. Light roast malt. Lots of fruit, mostly citrus. Some dark toffee. A little mintiness. Some tropical fruit on the end. Taste is dry, and moderately bitter. Palate is smooth, although there’s a little astringency. Finishes dry, and zesty bitter. Good, but a little tart.
3.6 On cask at Hamilton Hall (JDW), Liverpool St. Pours black brown with tan head. Well hopped black IPA, very fragrant and easy drinking. Good stuff.
3.8 Cask in the North London Tavern NW6. Unusual pint this. Dark brown red colour, minimal head. Real attack of malt flavours, treacle, caramel, licorice, something smokey. Some hop bitterness. To me felt more malty than hoppy, more estery and less clean, in many ways more interesting than many of the American Black IPAs. I wasn’t fully convinced whether I liked it so had to have another one. It has though given me a rotten hangover.
3.5 Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival on the 3rd October 2014. Cask, gravity dispense. Opaque black mahogany in colour with a thin buff head. Strong Del Monte tropical fruit salad present in the intense hoppy aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malt complex gives a burnt black toast note initially and then strong juicy tropical fruit notes of pineapple, mango and lychees full in the mouth. Strong, dusty citrusy hop flavours present in the long bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty and eclectic with dry black malt grains jarring against the sweeter tropical fruit salad flavours. A decent session Black IPA and worth trying.
3.7 500 ml bottle - Thick black appearance, with a frothy pale white head which disappears quickly. Smooth crisp taste.
3.5 A re-rate as the last one was clearly below par. Cask at the Edward Rayne, Raynes Park (JDW). Pours black with an off white head. Aroma of roast malt with hops. Bitter finish. Seems thin considering abv. Original rating: Cask at the Jolly Coopers, Epsom on 30 August 2014. Pours black with a white head. Hoppy aroma, bitter finish. This was not a good pint, deserves a re-rate.
3.4 Lovely black IPA which is true to the style. Great American hop aroma and flavor. Not violent hoppy but delicious easy-drinking.
3.3 Cask, Reading beer festival. Conqueror was ok, I had high expectations given some of the reviews and whilst a decent drink, it wasn’t one i would rush back to. This is a dark IPA which seemed worth a try. It had a good caramel flavour mixed with the bitterness of the hops made for unusual beer.
3.5 Cask, The Pub, Leicester. Very dark brown with an off white, thin foam. Aromas are nutty and toasted with dark berries and black tea. Floral and spicy with hints of cola. Woody pine with hints of smokiness. Flavours are sweet toffee with nutty, berry coffee and woody pine. Dry black tea with herbal, almost minty notes to finish. Decent.
3.5 Cask gravity at Watford rugby Club beer fest. Aroma is oak smoked malts, pine hop and a touch of lemon citrus. Opaque dark brown caramel with a halo of loose tan head. 4.2 Bottle from Waitrose. Pours a dark ruby, with a thin beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, blood orange and earthy grain. Excellently balanced flavours; liquorice, fruity hops, bitter grass, roasted malt. Finish is molasses, resin, burnt malt and coffee. One of my favourite British beer that is readily available in supermarkets.
