Witkap Pater Dubbel (alc. 7% vol.) is a dark abbey beer with cream foam head, a full flavour and hints of caramel. Remarkably dark beer that is particularly well associate with Belgian chocolate desserts.

3.3Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke, shared with Anke and Pieter.
Pours hazy dark brown with a small, frothy, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, hops & spices, dark chocolate, some herbs. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and medium hoppy, even herbal bitter, with a slightly dry finish. Medium/light body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. A rather 'discreet' Dubbel, though well made.
3.4Nice one, not too sweet, some caramel, faintly acidic red currant. More a stout than a dubbel maybe: some roasted malts and vanilla, light bitterness, creamy. Carbonation a bit too strong. Subtle but clean and tasty.
3.4From bottle. Transfer of an earlier rating without text recorded, rating only.
3.1Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, with sweetish dried dark fruits, raisins, yeast, and forest fruit jam. Flavour is sweet and mildly bitter. Body is medium. Not a bad Dubbel, lacks candysugar which is a good thing, with an atypical take on the dried fruits you expect from a Dubbel.

3.4Dark brown beer. Typical special witkap taste. It is made with mains so I think that is the special taste. It makes sense.
2.833 cl bottle at home. Pours red-brown with fast dissipating, medium tan head. Aroma: roasted malts, tobacco, fruits. Taste: medium sweetness with medium to high bitterness. Notes of roasted malts, coffee, dried dark fruits. Texture is watery and thin with medium carbonation.

3.4Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer is hazy dark brown colored and has a cream colored head, with livingly CO2.
The aroma is roasted malts, a fruitiness from dark fruits and some yeast and spices.
The taste is light sweet and malty with some tones of caramel. After that a light sourness and bitterness from the spices is noticable.
The finish is light sour and refreshing and a little bitter.
OK Dubbel, but there are better ones.
2.6Bottled 330ml (from BBF)
Deep ruby color, small steady beige head. Aroma has prunes, some kind of fruityness and light alcohol&caramel. Medium-bodied. Quite empty for this ABV. Light caramel, prunes and some light spiceyness in the flavor. Not very complex.
3.1Donker bruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig, licht zoet, ietwat kruidig.
3.8Cola colour, nice carbonation from the onset, modest foam head. Almost like a Cola (!). Aroma: typical Belgian double with a very pronounced metallic aroma. Prunes, dark fruits (raspberries, blackberries), also a very nice pear aroma. Fruity, as is to be expected from the Witkap line-up. The yeast adds an acidic touch, however. Taste: very mellow, with distinct grass and earth notes, chestnuts, some basement funk, slightest creamy touch. If I had to describe it: a bit like walking in an autumn forest. Development is mildly bitter, sweet, and faintly boozy. Aftertaste is neutral, with some brown sugar notes. Very gentle Double, nice!
3.4Bottle 33cl. Deep dark redbrown, small frothy beige head, diminishing quickly, fair lacing; sweet malt aroma, light roasted, caramel, dark dried fruits, hint of licorice; taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, mild dry malty aftertaste, spicy notes, some alcohol; rather mild Dubbel, less sweet than others , maybe a bit on the thin side.
3.2KRS 131214. Amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is apple, roasted malt, hop, sugar. Flavour is apple, roasted malt, hop, sugar, spices, yeast. Medium body. OK beer.
2.5Pours cloudy dark amber with rocky ivory head.
Aroma is low: bread, unripe white fruits.
Taste starts a little sweet. Sour and bitter are well balanced. Medium body. Abrupt finish reminiscent of orange blossom.
2.733cl, slightly aged bb 01/2016. Thinnish chestnut pour, fizzy froth. Thin mélange of fig jam, stewed maroni, cocoa powder and something metallic, bretty even. Missed some cream or dark/roasted malt textures here. - Will have to revisit either bottled or on tap, feel this beer can do more.
3.7bottle at home. Pours cloudy brown with a small fine light beige head, beautiful lacing and carbonation. Nice light aroma of malts, light caramel and toffee. Light body, very subtle balance between malt roastiness and sweetness, little honey touch in the taste. Very nice.
3.0Medium mokka coloured head, dark brown colour, yeasty fresh some citrus smell, medium to high carbonation some minty herby medium bitter some caramel touch
3.0Bottle 330ml @ Geokkjer
Pours slightly hazy with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, sugar, caramel and hint of banana. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a slightly funky and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.3Bottle. Pours deep amber with an off-white head. Aroma of spices, some roasted notes, yeast and malt. Flavor is sweet and malty with some funk , cellar and fruitiness. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.9Dark brown, almost black with medium yellow creamy head. Fruity aroma. Rich taste with caramel bitterness and fruity sweet and sourness, bit carbonated.
3.3One of the lesser known Witkap Paters, the dubbel is a dark brown beer under a creamy, off-white head, with a dryish, malty character, caramelly, yeasty with subdued fruitiness and a leafy, hop bitterish finish. Since 1981. Should get more attention, though it is not a world class masterpiece in this style, but I like this brewery’s old school, low profile approach.
3.8Bottle at the Waterhuis, gent. Hazy dark brown with a big beige head. Dark fruit, prune and a little bit of nuts in the nose, bitter and yet fruity, and very pleasing. Full body, highly carbonated and a little bitter finish with bready undertones. One of the best dubbels iv’e had in quite some time.

Conclusie: aparte smaken, geen topper voor mij
3.8Bottle @ home. Birra marrone con riflessi aranciati/ruggine. Velata. Schiuma beige, fine persistente. Aroma fruttato, frutta rossa, amarene, cioccolato, lievito belga e liquoroso. Gusto amabile, poco amaro, pieno ed intenso, fruttato di amarena sciroppata, con una leggera tostatura ad equilibrare. Poco corposa e mediamente carbonata. Poco calda, rotonda e di grande equilibrio. Armonica.
3.0(Witkap Pater Dubbel) Bottle 330 ml at home, after a long day painting. Poured into a tulip glass, ABV 7%
Red brown colour on the body, tall beige head, a bit frothy but with good retention, leaving spots of lacing on the glass.
Aroma is light fruity, a tad sour and oxidized.
Taste also fruity, some light dark fruits, metallic notes, dust.
Medium thin body, okay carbonation. Good dryness on the palate.
Weird dubbel, nothing I’d order twice.
3.333 CL bottle at home. Slight malty aroma with some fruit. Pours with a nice white head, clear dark brown with a reddish hue. Polished appearance. Sweet taste fading to light dryness. Medium body. Finish is dry, but there is a nice residual sweetness. Overall a pleasant dubbel that drinks easily.
2.2Een donker bier waar niet zoveel speciaals aan is. Dan zijn er betere te vinden.
