Wolaver's Brown Ale

Wolaver's Brown Ale

Deep amber ale with rich and smooth flavor. Malty undertones of vanilla and caramel are kept in check with the addition of magnum, golding and fuggles hops.

2.5 It has a malty smell with caramel mix. There is almost no head and it is a dirty cloudy light brown. There is a hint of cherry in the flavor with other malts. The brew is decent, but not great.
2.6 This says ’brown ale’ on the bottle, and it appears ’brown’ in the glass, but there is nothing else about it that screams ’brown ale’. The aroma is more hoppy and sweet malt than nutty and caramel. The flavour the same, a little too hoppy and unbalanced to be a true English style brown ale.
3.1 12oz into a pint. Pour is an average slide of brown and mild mocha. No real substantial carbination, flat at most times. Brown ale body does not present itself consistently, leading to more of a flat brew. head is receding and bland. Taste is medi oaker and dull, but can and does resemble a fine finishing brown at the beginning with its sweet malt and brown sugar additions. the price of the 12 pack was good though.
2.4 (On tap farmhouse tap n’ grill): Ennuyeux, peu malté, peu houblonné, croustillante et sans saveur sinon une légère brise florale.
3.1 Nice amber color, small head, light lacing. Sweet smell of caramel. Tastes on the light side, a little more robust than some brown ales but less so than the great ones. Not bad but probably wouldn’t buy again.
2.5 Bottle. Deep amber color. Thin head. Aroma of floral hops, cherry, and bready malts. Tart palate, very bitter and sour for a brown or amber ale. Some hops character, vague spicy cherry and brown sugar, and some bitter malts. Just hit me like a brick, but not in a good way.
2.6 12 oz Bottle. Pours hazy, brown-amber with thin off white foam. Good complex aromas of caramel, nut, and light fruit. creamy and rater thin.
2.8 the aroma is solid with caramel, hints of vanilla and a richness. the flavor doesn’t match the nose a mild caramel flavor and light hops. though very little and it’s very mild. the finish is way to hoppy for a brown and leaves a odd sweetness not very nice
3.1 Aroma of yeasty hops. Tastes of fruity hops with caramel malt. Tangy hops notes.  Palate is medium bodied. Overall, pretty good, a hoppy beer for the brown ale style.
3.1 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped: 3295051712. It looks like a brown should with its deep amber pour and lingering but smallish head. The aroma is rather weak with a little malt and a little hop but nothing outdoes the other. The body is medium and creamy. The taste tends to favor a clean, crisp hoppy character but it is also a tad astringent.
3.4 Pretty good. A touch too hoppy - I’d prefer it to be smoother. Aroma was average and didn’t grab me - Appearance was great. Nice lasting head with plenty of lacing. In taste I noted the vanilla, but I also caught the over abundant hops which detracted from the overall and the palate.
2.9 Clear medium amber with a ring head and spotty lacing. A Traditional ale with more caramel malt at the beginning, more hop balance at the finish. Works well enough to have again, but certainly not a memorable brew.
3.3 Bottle at Shop-N-Save event, 4/21/12. Bronze color with a frothy head, sweet caramel scent, crisp textured light bodied palate with a flat feeling finish. Notes of nuts with a caramel finish.
2.5 Aroma is a bland malt. Taste is a slightly nutty malt, but not much to it. Overall not enough.
3.3 Pours dark brown with white head. Aroma is caramel, chocolate and some roast. Taste is sweet with faint bitterness on the finish. Surprisingly crisp finish for the style.
3.0 1/15/12. 12oz bottle. Slightly hazy brown pour with a small khaki head that’s gone fast. Slightly sour nutty aroma with caramel and oxidation. Sweet, nutty flavor with a bit of roast and a touch of sour milk. Meh.
3.3 On draft at the brewery. A little thin for a brown but smooth nonetheless. Hints of nuts and grain.
2.8 12 oz bottle from Bert’s Better Beers. Used a pint. Head dissipated fast. No lace. Flavor is a blend of malt, sugar and very light fruit hop notes. Finish is a weak nuttiness, just a touch of bitterness. Overall very “Run of the Mill”
3.1 Nice brown beer. Not much scent, has a nice brown pour, creamy nuttiness. Not especially unique, but a good brown ale.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a copper/toffee color with a small white head. Nose is brown sugar, caramel, nuts. Palate is playfully carbonated with a light dirty feeling. Bits of toffee and peanut brittle in the finish with other notes of caramel, light spicy hop notes, sweet syrupy malt notes.
2.9 Brown beer with a thin white head. Aroma of spice, caramel. Taste of roasted malts, coffee. Just a little bitterness. Crisp, clean mouthfeel. Good amount of carbonation.
2.6 Aroma of caramel and roasted malts. Body is thin and watery. Flavors are sweet coffee, toffee, nutty, figs. Moderately hoppy finish. Overall it’s very subdued and mild.
3.0 Bottle on the lake in nh. Aroma is unbelievably sweet smelling caramel, brown sugar. Almost afraid to taste. Brown sugar, caramel, toffee. Thin. Way too sweet for me. Weak finish.
2.8 Bottle. Poured a hazy medium brown with an average sized light tan frothy head that was mostly diminishing and had poor lacing. The aroma was of toasted caramel malts, resin hops and a mild earthy yeast with a mild hint of coffee. It tasted kind of mild with a sweet coffee flavor at first the became a little bitter and slightly hoppy at the end. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and watery in texture with a very soft carbonation. Overall a somewhat tasty brew but lacking for the style. Not sure if being an organic brew had anything to do with the lack of flavor but I am sure it did not help.
2.7 orange-brown pour, off-white head. mild nutty malt, hop notes. nutty soft flavor, spicey hops.
2.7 Average brown ale, amber in color, mild and creamy. A soft beer, slightly malty, good balance, hints of cheery and black currant.
2.6 Une pinte au Three Needs à Burlington. Bière de belle couleur brune avec une mousse blanche. Le nez est léger de caramel et de malt. La bouche est mince, liquide avec une touche de houblon et de malt. Rien de mémorable.
3.1 Bottled 2.21.11. Pours dark reddish orange, a little hazy, with a frothy tan 1.5-finger head. Aromas of sweet malt, caramel, apple, and grass. The flavor is roasty cocoa, mild chocolate, some earthiness, and apple. A little thin. Decent. [663]
2.9 Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber with a thin tan head. Scent is sweet malt and nuts. Light malty taste.
3.2 Standard brown ale pour with an off white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Flavor is similar, mostly sweet malt with a hint of roasted nuts. Medium body, a very drinkable beer.
