Wolf 8 (2011-2018)

(replaced with a new version in 2019, please rate accordingly)

Dark brown bordeaux-coloured beer with a firm broken-white head. The aroma is pleasant, with some pear and roasted nuts.

The palate is nutty, with some chocolate impressions followed by exotic fruit. This beer with strong character has a beautiful finish with some bitter hop and caramel.

4.1 dark brown colour, large stable breamy beige head; aroma of fried cherry, maybe figs, too, dark chocolate, some herbal notes and anise; taste of plum jam, chocolate, anise notes and some spicy alcohol in the bckground; good ale!
3.3 Intense maltiness, caramel, light roast, some toast, dried fruits, weirdish nutty. Mostly sweet with light bitterness. Bit overcarbonated - overall decent, but nothing to remember

3.4 Bottled at Lafayette Music Bar, Ostend, West Flanders, Belgium. Dark brown with cream head. Sweet caramel toffee hints up front with a sweetish chocolate note. There is a general fruitiness along with a roasted nut hint. Late dryness. It’s okay.
3.6 33 cl. bottle. High fluffy light brown lasting head. Clear very dark brown body. Relatively sweet and yet powerful roasted malt coffee caramel cocoa aroma and flavor with fruity notes. Low carbonation, little hops bitterness, long finish.
3.5 Bottled@HBF2016. Hazy ambery brown colour with a creamy/fluffy head. Aroma is sweet malts, some raisins, mild earth, alcohol and toffee. Flavour is yeasty, alcoholic, some chocolate and mild ripe fruits with some toffee as well.
3.8 Bottle. Color amber with small white head. Aroma malt, caramel, yeast. Taste malt, yeast, fruits, sweet.
3.5 Bottle sampled at Taphouse, Copenhagen. Hazy chestnut brown with a medium sized tan head. Nose has paper, caramel, dark dried fruit. Flavour has dark dried fruit, brown sugar, flowers, wood. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation, medium sweet and bitter, light acidic. Not bad, carries the alcohol well.
3.3 33 cl bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, overripe fruity and phenolic. Breadish, metallic and roasted malty. Roasted and dark malty finish.
3.2 Bottled. A brown beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, fruits, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of dusty hops, caramel, fruits, and straw, leading to a dry roasted finish.
3.2 Medium mokka coloured head, dark brown to black coloured body, yeasty brown malts chimney some coffee like smell, medium to high carbonation low bitter a bit candy some coffe caramel bit sweet yeasty taste
Ciezkawe troche i mocne. Wyglad pozytywny, ciemno machoniowe piwo, gestawe i bardzo ciemne, z kremowa gesta pianka dosc trwala. Dla mnie dobre ale ogolnie moglo by byc nieco mniej alkoholowe i zwlaszcza slodkie
3.8 Aromat: Ogólnie słodko- kwaskowy. Wyraźne estry, wino owocowe, likier, karmel, melonoidyny, ciastka czekoladowe, cukier kandyzowany, prażone pestki. Ciekawie. Wygląd: burgundowy, pod światło czerwony, zgaszony. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, dość obfita i względnie trwała. Ładnie oblepia szkło. Smak: zdecydowana słodycz, alkohol, nuty winne, owocowe (wiśnie, morele), karmelowe, tostowe, czekoladowe (gorzkie), melanoidynowe, nawet lekko palone. Trochę prażonych pestek. Całkiem ciekawie. Goryczka niewielka, delikatna, typowo belgijska.
4.1 Bottle split with Ma J at The New Penguin, 19/09/15. Mahogany utterly heaped with beige. Wonderful soft oak, lactic chocolate, weird delicate spice, juicy plum and nectarine nose. Elegant and mellow with suggestions of chargrilled bell pepper, cocoa-dusted oak, plum, prune and caraway-dusted nectarine. Trace of aniseed. Booze brilliantly concealed. Praline softness to finish. Wow. Long time since I’ve tasted anything like this.
3.3 Bottle 330ml (from BBF) Dark brown color, small steady beige head. Aroma has prunes, candy sugar, alcohol (booze) and some toasted notes. Medium-bodied. Caramel, prunes, bready maltyness and alcohol. Some fruity notes. Ok flavor but has lots of booze.
4.4 Drinking from a 33 cl bottle. In the aroma alcohol and spices. The clear black beer has a large brown head. In the taste coffee, chocolate and alcohol. High carbonated.
3.4 1/20/2012 2:23:47 AM Bottle at home. Dark brown body with big head. Nose of malts, caramel and toffee. Taste also qutie sweet and malty, with nuts in there and some chocolate and fruits. Nice bitter finish to it. Pretty good.
3.3 Clear dark ruby, big tanned lasting, lacing foam head. Strong caramel aroma and taste. Sweet, but not too sweet, caramel, light cheese notes. Good dark beer. (Velp 201509)
Trevlig.
4.2 Butelka, warka do 27/02/2016 (chyba 2016 - zamazane). Cimne, z ladna i zaskakujaco jasna piana, wysoka, zostajaca do konca w postaci korzuszka. Ocena potraktowana skryptem do przeliczania ocen (uzgodnienie UT/RB).
3.4 Nice dark brown pour. Decent dark ale, sweet caramel tones and a yeasty creamyness.
4.1 Pours reddish dark brown with fawn head. Aroma is Liquorice, leather, caramel, honeycomb and chocolate. Good sourness in the mouth. Fizzy, medium-bodied. Short-lingering finish.
3.3 Bottle. Strong sweet aroma when opening, cinnamon. Pours a typical Double with dense, lasting head. Funky sweet aroma when poured: basement funk, rotting fruit (plum, strawberry), sun dried tomato, cocoa. Taste is interesting: starts like a Bock with notes of rye and grass, slowly develops a boozy high, and settles down to a slightly sour and salty dark chocolate taste and bitterness, which also dominates the aftertaste. Very interesting development.
3.8 01-17-2015 - I like the Wolf beers a lot, and this one is no exception: very nice!
3.1 Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. Beer with a deep brown/dark colour, with a creamy head. Coffee and spice aroma. Great coffee chocolate taste, with strong palate. Go try it. Not unforgettable
3.6 330ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges. Roasted malt, raisins and a hint of liquorice in the aroma. Roasted, nutty and malty taste with liquorice, raisins and chocolate biscuits detected.
