Woodchuck Dark and Dry 802 Draft Cider

Woodchuck Dark and Dry 802 Draft Cider

Dark and Dry is made with a blend of apples and champagne yeast but caramelized sugar is added just before filtering to impart a deep bronze tone. White sugar is used in the Amber Cider.

3.5 My favorite woodchuck cider. Not counting the bourbon barrel one. Not too sweet and not too dry.
4.2 Sugary aroma of caramel. Drank from the bottle. Sweet tasting but not close to overpowering.
2.6 Bottle from Castro. Light pour with little to no head. Aroma is apple cinnamon. Taste is the same.
3.1 Bottle. Medium brown pour, clear, moderate carbonation. Flavor is up front moderately tart apples, but not really dry. Finishes slightly tart and drier, not a lot lingers into the finish. Nice enough, but somewhat simple compared to some others from this brewer. Would probably opt for the Amber over this one.
3.1 From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear light amber. Big round sweet over ripe apple flavor.
3.4 Squat 12 oz brown bottle. Clear, bronze cider without much head. I really liked the aroma - understated - softly sweet, baked apple, a little leather. Tangy, a little vinegar, pretty sweet, lightly malic acid-astringent. Lingering cider vinegar in the finish. Medium body. Enjoyable. ABC Liquors, Betton.
3.0 Bottle. Medium orange with high clarity. Light brown sugar, tart apples, and dry wine aromas. Flavor is sweet with a dry tartness. Better than the granny smith, but not as good as the amber.
3.1 Pours clear caramel with very small white head. Some lacing, light carbonation, medium body, and light apple aroma. Taste is slightly sweet apple up front, light caramel, and finishes slightly dry apple.
2.9 12 oz bottle pours amber with a white head. Aroma of apples and yeast. Taste is apples, dryer then most. I like this more then the other ciders I have had.
3.2 12oz bottle. Lightly carbonated, amber in color with some fizzy head around the edges. Deep apple aroma. Just a bit on the sour side. Decent.
1.9 This sounds like it is going to be really good, but it isn’t. Looks almost exactly like ginger ale, but with finer carbo. Decent aroma of apple skins, but the palate is just too sweet and sugary for me. After a few sips I get that horky corn syrup cloying throat coating that I hate. Didn’t finish.
3.4 Not too far from the rest of the house. NICe sweet but not excesive touches. Fine bubbles and also aftertaste.
2.9 This cider is pretty refreshing. The taste is apples upfront with a nice and mellow molasses twang to keep the tart in check. Nothing too complex, just simple and easy on the palate.
3.4 Copper pour with very little head. Aroma of tart apples. Lightly sour apple juice flavor with a dry finish. Light bodied and a bit fizzy. ok cider
2.4 Apple juice with alcohol. Pours with no carbonation & clear gold. Aroma is apples. Taste is apple. Guess that’s why it’s a cider. Dtinkable but not beer like.
2.3 clear light amber color, no head. aroma is of apple and sparkling wine with a spot of caramel. flavor is slightly tart with notes of apple and a little sweet in the finish.
2.8 Bottle. Light sweet apple aroma. Clear copper with a small, immediately dissipating white head. Sweet tart, slightly dry apple flavor. A little jolly rancher-like. Light, highly carbonated body.
3.1 Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a clear copper color with no head. The nose is faintly fresh apple cider and a touch of toasted notes. The flavor is subdued but thankfully so is the sweetness. All I really get is some caramel apple, a slight tartness, and a dry finish. Light body with average carbonation. I wish there was a little more to this.
3.4 Sweet up front and finishes dry. Dark in color. The caramelized sugar gives it something that the amber cider doesn't have. Finishes clean on the pallet.
2.8 Bottle. Pours a light amber color with no head on it at all. Nose is a little off, like leaves or something. Taste is filled with apples without being overly sweet. Not too bad.
3.2 I never like how much sugar is added, but this cider is brilliant. Crisp apple taste that is well balanced by the dark and dry caramelized sugars, appley molasses?
2.5 Bottle to pint. Looks sub-par; a transparent orange that’s dark for a cider with no real head or lacing whatsoever. Smells and tastes sweet with an average mouthfeel. Dryer finish from the champagne yeast, but this isn’t my favorite cider.
2.5 resin, banana, amber, clear, minimal head, medium sweetness, light body, average carbonation,
2.8 Darker then I remember. Like clear iced tea. One of the few Woodchucks I’ve willingly purchased before. Not much smell to it. stale tea, caramel, spilled beer. Feels a bit like a cheap beer going down. Crisp, oxidized, a bit buttery & bitter. Background generic apple flavor with a twist of lemon. I need a beer.
4.3 Very good cider for when you want something between a beer and a soda. Pour leads to minimal head which disappears instantly and leaves slight carbonation behind. Very attractive amber/brown in the glass. Nose is tart red apples and champagne. Sip is very light and fizzy, with tart red apples leading to a very pronounced Brut champagne finish that lingers for a while. A good low abv cider for someone who wants to remember that they are drinking cider and not apple juice.
3.3 12oz bottle poured into glass. Light brown color, slight carbonation with no head. Pleasant aroma of slight caramel apple. Flavor is slightly dry and a tad sweet. Not too bad.
2.7 Bottle from total wine chantilly pours brown without much on the nose. Slight brown sugar note on the tongue to go along with the apple. Meh!
3.7 Bottle purchased at Kroger on Polaris. Clear amber pour with a medium white head. Aroma of apple, caramel and a hint of sweet whiskey. Apple flavor with muted caramel before a sweet and tart finish.
3.0 Bottled. Poured clear medium amber with a light ring for head. The aroma picked up sweet and tart apples, with sweetened apple juice on the back of the nose. The flavor found meaty apples at the core, with sweet and tart apple skins around.. residual sugars on the quick finish. Light-bodied and too sweet on the palate.. ok feel and flow.. drinkable.
1.2 Poured light golden color with a small off-white head that diminished quickly with minimal lacing. Light tart apple aroma. Light body with a thin texture. Flavor of tart apple with a light sweet dry finish.
