For years, we've been telling you that great taste grows on trees -- apple trees that is. But just across the orchard we discovered another kind of great taste. We went out on a limb and created Woodchuck Pear Cider, a crisply refreshing drink with the tantalizing essence of pear. You can buy it in 6-packs or on draft.

2.7Bottle. Light gold in color, like a light white wine. Aroma is very light pear, fruit and apple. Taste is pear but there is apple also. Sweet but not too sweet.
2.7"Crisp, clean and refreshing, but really little to no depth of flavor or aroma. Light in appearance, almost champagne like. Light pear and honey. Not much to the finish."
2.5Right on pear cider. Slightly sweet with good tart notes. Smooth and refreshing.
4.4On tap at No Anchovies in Tucson, Arizona. Aroma is of pears, like canned pears, only not so sweet. Appearance is a very light yellow, almost looks like sparkling water or cream soda. Taste is only vaguely of pears, more citrusy than anything with a light floral-ness to it. Very light bodied, very refreshing, couldn’t ask for a better beverage on a hot desert evening. Overall while I’ll say it’s good in the desert, I really wouldn’t drink it anywhere else.
3.1Bottle: Poured a pale light yellow color perry with medium carbonation. Aroma consists of light fresh pear juice with medium amount of residual sugars. Easy drinking with limited amount of complexity. It makes for a good drink on hot summer days.
2.5Continuing my current cider kick on some re-reviews. I come to this.
This was poured into a pint glass and a wine glass.
The appearance was the same in both as it was slightly amber to hazy orange color with a one finger white bubbly head that dissipated within seconds. There wasn’t any lacing but still a ton of carbonation was seen rising.
The smell definitely had the pears over top of the tart apples helping to balance through the sweetness from the pears.
The taste was combined and balanced fairly well.
On the palate, the normal harshness I expected from this came but dissipated as it warmed, okay (didn’t that happen with another cider I just had by them?, ah okay, no worries).
Overall, hmmm...well, not exactly one of the better ciders I just recently had, but do-able to say the least. Woodchuck makes better.
2.5bottle - Pours clear pale yellow and smells like pears. The flavor is sweet with pears but there also seem to be apples in there. I wasn’t really expecting the latter. Some quick research indicates that the National Organization of Cider Makers (a UK group) says that perries can contain up to 25% apple juice. The existence of the rule tells me it’s probably not unusual to have apples as part of a perry. Here it may be 25%, it may be more. I’ve no idea. Anyway, pardon the digression... the pear taste here isn’t as strong as other perries I’ve had and seems rather artificial. It’s an okay drink, but I’m underwhelmed.
1.3355ml bottle. Clear yellow/gold pour. No head. Smell is intense medicine an oncentrated pear. Flavor is medicinal pear, metallic, sweetness. Nto good.
2.6Pale, clear, near white with a green ti.t. goos white head on this cider is a welcome change. Flavor is fake, sweet candy. Are there any pears involved in the making of this? The finish has some tannins and pear flavors but the attraction to the kidz is in th@t up-front sugar rush!
2.5Probably my least favorite out of all the woodchucks. Not terrible, but you could do better.
2.4Tulip pour, faint light golden. Aroma is bubble gum and cotton candy, synthetic. Flavor is candy sugar and light pear notes, but nothing spectacular. I don’t love it.
3.3If you love pear you’ll love this. Very sweet. Smells just like pear with a hint of apple. Great for a hard cider. wasn’t a fan of the apple ciders but this one stands out.
2.8Backlog. Pours straw yellow. Nose and taste of pear, apple and sugar. Lighter medium body. Pretty straightforward.
2.1Bottle. Nose is dusty pear, pours very nearly clear with just a faint yellow tinge, short fizzy white head is gone in a few seconds, above-avg carb. Sweet taste, not too sweet, light-medium body fizzy rather than crisp, faintly tart, no bitterness. There’s some refreshment to be had here, but the overall flavor is more artificial than even some of their apple offerings.
2.72oz sample at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Pours an almost clear color with a yellowish tint. Aroma is sweet sugary apples and pears. Taste is the same. Overly sweet sugary pears and apples.
3.0Bottle while trick or treating. Aroma has sweet fruits. Taste is of pear and apple and simple sugar. Light, crisp and not cloying. Refreshing enough. Shrug?
2.8Not bad, but I’m not a fan of pear ciders, sweet, lots of pear, easy to drink, good stuff
2.9bottle. very pale straw with minimal head. overly sweet pear flavor. lacking quite of bit of complexity compared to better perrys that i’ve had.
3.2Light aroma, slightly sweet taste reminiscent of Arbor Mist White Pear wine. Very scanty aftertaste.
2.8Bottle. First pear cider, so what do I know anyway? Pours a pale white wine-like color with an interesting but very light almost floral-like aroma. Flavor is quite dry, without any real complexity, but refreshing. Not a go-to cider at all, but I could see this having a place in the fridge at times; maybe during the summer when something light and low ABV would be fine.
3.5Sweet pear and apple flavors, clear color, apple and pear aroma. I enjoyed this but ive had better hard ciders
1.7Clear foamless whitish. Aroma is pear, taste is pear. À cider, not The best ons, bit à different one. (Hamburg 201307)
0.8A couple were left in my house after a party. They stayed in the fridge for about a year. I see why. Pulled it out one night after I was out of alcohol. I forced myself to chug one and drain poured half of the second. Which was the best thing about this drink...it let me know I’m not a total alcoholic!
2.4on tap at reservoir, waterbury. from the missus. clear pale yellow without a head, medium-sized bubbles. slightly perfumed pears, apples, candied pears, flowery, sugary, plain sugar. average carbonation, light body. meh.
2.6Draft to pint. Looks decent; a completely transparent light (almost clear) gold with white lacing. Smells and tastes of sweet pear. Average (at best) on the palate. Weak.
2.812oz bottle picked up at the state store
Appearance: Clear light yellow, no head or lacing
Smells of apples, pear and sugar. Flavors of ripe apples, pears, sugar with a dry finish
Decent, mild and thin but easy drinking
2.9Very pale yellow pour with a fizzy, soda-like white head. Sweet and sugary with a mild pear aroma. Lightly tart, a bit watery, and kind of more of an apple note to it. As with the nose, a light pear flavor. Quite sweet and sugary. A bit artificial tasting. Slight apple, light tartness, and somewhat watery. Despite its flaws, still enjoyable.
2.7Found this with a couple of other ratings from my time at woody’s smokes and brews. Pours a thin, light yellow with almost no discernable head. pear flavors and aromas, but fakely so. It was more ’pear-like’ than some other perrys i’ve had. Slightly less sweet and more tart/tangy than some of the others i’ve had too. somewhat dry finish. But overall, i found it too syrupy sweet for my personal taste. good for getting girls drunk though.
3.3Quite incipit, no so perry-alike but nice to drink soft sweet and some good aftertaste there too.
2.0Clear, light yellow, no head. Aroma of floral and fruit. Clear and crisp, but not beer.
