2.1Drain pour. Too sweet and carbonated. Has a raspberry flavor in there with some roasted grain flavors. Pours brown with a tan head. Had out of a bottle at home.
3.112 oz bottle from the AOPD monthly beers The brown ale poured a clear dark amber ale with an off-white head and lacing. The aroma was of toast and caramel malts with chocolate notes. The flavor has nutty notes and some bitterness with a sweet finish. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation.
3.5The aroma has a sweet caramel nut malt character. Head filled my whole glass at first so I had to have a lot patience waiting for it come down. Brown clear body with a hint of amber. Dry caramel nutty taste. Not a bad brew but wish I didn’t have to wait 10 minutes for the foam head to calm down.
3.5On tap at the ACBF in Boston. Pours brown with a tan head. Nose is malt and caramel. Taste is sweet with a nice nutty character. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Good brew.
2.2Nearly cloyingly sweet brown ale, syrupy, like a pecan pie made by someone who doesn’t know how to bake and forgot to add pecans but didn’t burn it or do a totally horrible job at it.
4.6For a brown ale, this one had a lot of flavor. Not terribly malty but plenty and a good mouth feel. Not watery like many weak Brown Ales. Some hop but not much. I like it better than most brown ales. Nice deep Amber color. More character than what I expected. Pleasant surprise!
1.0Pretty wussy. But I guess for a brown ale it's ok. I am about to try the double pigs ear so let's see if I like that better.
3.5Bottle from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is malty and slightly nutty. Appearance is a beautiful, clear, dark amber with insignificant, fleeting white head. Taste is moderately sweet. Palate is light-medium body with average carbonation--perhaps a tinge too much. Finish is long with good, nutty sweetness. Overall, a good medium ale that satisfies.
3.3Earthy brown. Good roast. Had during a road trip to Rhode Island. Lowe bitterness.
4.4On tap. 2nd favorite brew from this establishment. Pours brown with a tan clingy head. All malt and caramel in the nose. Flavors are the same – sweet, smooth malty goodness with a characteristic common to most of their brews that (others have noted maple) really works for me. Finish leaves me wanting more. This is what I pick for a growler to go.
3.3Got this at the beer store in Nashua. Yes, its brown fer sure. Dark brown. Nice creamy head. Smell of J&L slag on blast-furnace night in Aliquippa while watch a movie at ABC drive in. I see tis 4.3% and I like that. One of the better brown ales I’ve come in contact with. Goes down easy, yes. Has a personality but its never in yer face, good job.
3.3Purchased on a trip to Vermont in a small convenient store. Lots of carbonation creating a light overflow, and a big creamy-frothy beige head that stays very long. The brew is a deep amber colour and gives out aromas of apples at first pour. Then, nutty yeast appears. Fruity malt taste with light yeast and some decent hops. Good, but not my thing.
3.0Bottle. Pours clear brown with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and nutty malt with light chocolate notes and earthy hops. Flavor is nutty and chocolate malt, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.
3.1Weak, nutty aroma with a little metallic funk. Flavor is better, nutty caramel and lightly bitter, slightly smoky finish. OK, but nothing special, a decent cookout/tailgate option for non-beer-nerds.
3.4A semi sweet brown with nice hints of caramel and honey. Pours a medium brown with a thin head.
3.4Bottle. Pours copper with an off white head. Lightly toasted malts, some toffee and nutty sweetness, and a clean malty finish. Quite drinkable, and at 4.3ABV, super sessionable.
3.0Tap. Dark amber pour with half a finger of head. Caramel, dark fruits, wood. Sweet and acidic. Light to medium body with a strong carbonation. Acidic and slightly sour finish
3.5Bottlw at home in CT - thanks to brother Charlie. Pours clearish brown with a foamy tan head. Very basic brown bread nose with suggestions of berry fruits. Light to medium sweet flavor with some cigarette butts, more brown bread, toasted leaves. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with toasted brown bread, hints of burnt caramel, light earth and leaves. Actually a decent, tasty brown.
4.1Draft. Pours deep brown mahogany with lite white head that lingers. Cocoa aromas with mild carbonation. Malty chewy brown ale with some hop and coffee flavors
3.112oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a minimal light tan head. Light coffee and chocolate aroma, with a dash of floral hops. Sweet caramel and dark fruit malt flavors dominate this one. A bit sugary with a good dry finish. Sweetness seems to become more pronounced as it warms. Soft and smooth medium body.
3.2Bottle. Clear amber brown pour, white head, medium lacing. Mild malt aroma, toast, light caramel. Taste is malty, toast, caramel. Palate is light, moderate carbonation. Simple, but clean and well done.
3.3Recommended by a bartender at Murphy’s, which I gladly took. $4.50 for the half-pint. Pours a dark blood iron rust with a trim off-white head barely a finger in length. Smells and tastes of pickled pears, earth, wheat grain, mashed corn, wine and coffee dregs, and noble hops. Relaxing.
3.4Dark brown ruby edged pour with medium khaki head. Balanced, sweet, nutty, and mild citrusy hoppy aroma. Real nutty and chocolatey flavor. Smooth sweet finish. Little to no hop flavor.

4.1Great brown. Malty, no hops on my tongue, no bitter just agreeable malt. Brown as it should be.
3.5This beer is a lot ligther tasting then most brown ales I’ve tried.Poured out of a bottle and into a nonic, the nut aroma as well as taste is present, and has almost a lingering maple flavor towards the end. Cheers!
3.3Bottle and on tap. Pours reddish brown with tan head. Malty with caramel, minimal hops, nutty , medium body. A good brown ale
3.2Into a pint glass, it leaves a brown colored body, two finger white foamy head quickly dies and leaves spider web lacing; the smell has malts, toffee, light nuttiness, light honey, the taste is malty and sweet, nutty aftertaste and a quick sweet almost dry finish; the palate was light to medium, very sessionable, gets creamy and smooth; overall, this is pretty good for an English Brown Ale, I recommend if you like the style
3.6Aroma of caramel, soda, sweet bread. Nice foamy, nutty taste, hardy. Seems like something that would go well in a metal tankard while singing drinking songs.
2.8Heavy butterscotch aroma. Clear ruby brown color. Nutty sweet taste with light bitterness. Reminds of frosted flakes somehow. Medium body, easy drinker. Retreats halfway back to amber ale status.
3.2Poured from 12 oz. bottle in Stowe, VT.
Clear rusty brown with small khaki head and good lacing.
Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, dark fruit, toffee and brown sugar.
Taste of caramel, brown sugar, roasted malt, toffee and nuts.
Medium body and medium carbonation.
