3.2 500ml bottle at home. Clear dark amber in colour, off white head. Soft carbonation up the glass. Malty aroma with dark fruits and burnt caramel tinged with spices. Tastes quite malty, biscuity with mild bitterness. A typical ruby ale. Not exceptional but perfectly drinkable.
2.8 Bottled 500ml. -from local Plodine Karlovac. Dark golden coloured, small off-white head, malty nose. Sweet malty, caramel, light nutty and weak herbal hops with dry dusty caramel finish. Drinkable but useless.
4.2 Hobgoblin light. It's got that banana aroma and bready malt that is very reminiscent of hobgoblin but with less intense hop and paler malt. Definitely a more drinkable version of hobgoblin. Eh, prefer their signature brew.
2.8 Bottle from Poetzsch, Harrislee. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit and light hoppy. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 090918
4.6 A strong tasting dark ruby beer had from a bottle. Good strong tasting ruby ale
2.8 Bottle 500 ml shared with Dimitrios. Pours a clear amber body with a white head. Aroma is slightly roasted malts with subtle notes of caramel and spices. Taste is essentially mildly roasted malts with caramel notes and spices.
2.9 Klares Bernstein mit durchschnittlicher Schaumkrone. Malzig, reichlich Karamell, Kekse, würzig, leicht herb.
2.8 Bottle. Brown with a bare coat of off white head. Gentle toffee and biscuit aroma with some hints of spices. Watery. Not much going on really - there's no fruit to go along with fine but uninspiring malts. But there is firm, mildly spiced bitterness and you could drink a few pints of it.
2.4 Caramel, wet rags in aroma. Amber, clear without head. Malt, bitter and watery. Light body, light carbonation, dry finish.
2.8 Bottled. Clear amber ale with adecent frothy head. Aroma: candied sugar, fruit jam, some biscuit. Minor hop spiciness. Light to medium body. The taste is initially sweet and malty becoming much dried in mid & end. Clean. Low to light bitterness. Hoppy aftertaste. All in all a mediocre bitter.
2.9 Bottle from Home Bargains, Washington. Amber coloured with a thin white head. It has a peppery hop, burnt toffee and malty flavour followed by a warming bitter-sweet fruity and sulphur finish. Not bad.
3.7 Standard English brewery fare: light, easy to drink, nothing exceptional. Solid easy drinker. "New" Label art is pretty badass.
3.0 Pours clear light ruby with an off white head. Nose is malty, nutty and some lemon. Light watery mouth feel. Taste is a classic bitter, toffee, nutty and lemon. Nothing special here, but drinkable.
3.4 Pours a clear, dark golden amber coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smell is dominated by rather strong caramel malt and ligher notes of dark fruit and herbal hops. Taste feels a bit more balanced, with strong caramel malt presence, but also more distinct grassy, herbal and light citrus hops, as well as notes of toffee, dark fruit and a certain nuttiness. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some toffee-covered walnuts lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation. Nothing spectacular, but a solid English Bitter that's a bit on the malty, fruity, nutty side, balanced by lighter grassy herbal hops. Body/mouthfeel may be a tad watery and there is a certain mineral note that develops in the aftertaste as the beer warms, but all in all it's still a rather decent, easy-drinking brew.
3.0 Last time I had this it the smell and taste reminded me of used kitty litter. Had it again in a selection box of Wychwood Ales and much better this time. Went from 2.3 to a 3. I guess some batches may be suspect.
2.0 Pours pale golden , clear . malt notes . simple taste . Not the best from Wychwood brewery
2.7 Nose is some pine notes and a little sweetness, taste is sweet caramel with a medium bitterness. No hobgoblin nothing special
2.0 Offerte par Pills & Vivi. 7 mois avant DLC. Ambrée, petite mousse carbo faible. Arôme malt grillé. Malt grillé en bouche, léger houblonnage. Trop légère, un peu aqueuse. Rien de spécial.
3.1 I like this beer
3.0 might seem a bit cheap to compare it to the brewery's other offerings however this is very reminiscent of the bottled hobgoblin ale, but with some of the alcoholic "bite" taken out; goliath is a lot smoother and maltier, with a biscuit base that makes it even, although less darker than the goblin. the slightly lower ABV makes it easier to drink too. overall, a decent real ale, would love to try it on tap/cask/keg if the opportunity ever arose.
3.4 A: Light orange with a medium white head N: Caramel with light pine needle T: Toffee, orange peel, dank bitterness P: Full-bodied O: Nice, full-bodied ale
3.0 Bottle, pours orange tinged brown with a fast-settling head and light aromas of toasted orange and caramel. Sweetish malt with a toasty and spicy bitter edge. A decent bitter.
2.6 Appearance: clear ruby colour with thin head Aroma: crystal malt aromas, light fruit Palate: medium Mouthfeel, medium low carbonation Taste: citrus, grapefruit, underlying crystal malt. Medium bitterness
3.1 Aroma and flavor is caramel/nutty malts, light fruit and a mostly smooth/drinkable finish.
3.0 It was a ruby bitter and that was about it. Drinkable, tasty, but immedialtely forgettable. There is not much more to say!
2.5 Clear amber color with small white head. Malty aroma. Bitter taste with sweet malty aftertaste. Light body. Drinkable.
2.9 Bottle at home amber with a thin white head that didn’t last long with a malty, caramel and slightly nuttiness taste, which leaves a slightly bitter malty aftertaste not what I expected .
2.3 Bottle 0,50L. Clear orange color with small, frothy, off-white head, that dissipate in a minute. Malty aroma with some tea notes, also herbal and grassy. Taste starts light bitter, become light sour for a moment with some light, fruity notes and finish light bitter. Lighter on body, watery and bored.
3.1 Pours a foamy off white head and has a slightly dull dark copper appearance. Lacing is good. Mild grainy and bready malt aromas with spiced hops. Has earthy and herbal type hop flavours, somewhat sweet and has a slight bitterness. Notes of toffee and nuts as well. Pretty faint citrus notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied with fairly weak carbonation but has a nice mouthwarming sensation. Not too bad, easy drinking but not the best from Wychwood.
