Wychwood Hobgoblin IPA (Keg and Bottle)

Wychwood Hobgoblin IPA (Keg and Bottle)

Bottle (5.3%) and keg (5%): Filtered.

Heftily hopped & aroma packed, Hobgoblin IPA stays true to its ancestral traditions. Brewed with Fuggles, Goldings & Styrian hops & then amped up by the addition of some mighty American hops. This collision of Old & New World hops provides an explosion of tropical aroma & a juicy bitterness. Born out of character.
The Cask version for the Wetherspoons Beer Festival Spring 2018 is brewed at Banks's Wolverhampton.

3.0 Two fingers of head deep brown color. Fruity flavors, medium body average carbonation. Bland and not very exciting.
4.9 Really impressed with this, loads of flavour for a 5% IPA. Puts Punk, Gamma Ray etc. to shame.
3.4 2022-07-23. Crisp golden orange body, modest white head. 3++ Aroma is malty, English malt, lightly toasty. Flavour is similar, toasty malt, light caramel undertones. Lightly fruity. Mild bitterness. Average bodied palate, good carbonation. Pleasant. 7/3/7/3/14 Can shared by Charesa.
3.0 Fairly malty, orange hops not much tropical fruit and maybe not to much of an IPA. Pleasant enough though.
3.2 Tap in Kefalonia-Greece, @Draught Beer and Grill. Unclear golden leading to amber color, medium-low tick off-white foam. Nose: certainly malty, tea, tangerine, orange, a bit piney. Mouth: rose grapefruit, sharply citric, even tart.
3.7 440ml can @ 5% ABV Colour is an amber ale with a one finger white head. Aroma is citrusy, grapefruit, herbal, spicy, grassy and slightly lemony. Taste is sweet, caramel, tropical fruits, bitter, earthy, woody, grassy, citrusy and quite malty and biscuity. Overall this is quite a good and very drinkable ale and I would definitely drink this again.
2.3 Hazy amber, white head. Light diacetyl nose and palate. Light malt with light bitterness in finish….. Not good
3.6 Golden with a white head - Hop aorma with some herbal notes - Malt body with a nice bitterness that is herbal - Herbal hop flavours goes into the finish that ends dry - This was good
2.8 Smell- weak, hops. Foam- thin, hops, weak bitter tones. Head is medium-sized to large, white in color. Sticks. Appearance - brewer? bottle cap, somewhat nice label, but its series... fine let us take the bonus. Brewer bottle surely merits a bonus, but I don't want to give 5 here. Clear amber color, no carbonation. From - pint Taste- hops, weak bitterness, some faint malt. Fairly balanced, bitter aftertaste.
3.8 Klar kopperfarget med offwhite skum som varer. Aroma brød malt humle karamell fersken. Smak malt gress humle gjær sitrus karamell appelsinskall. Middels fylde, moderat til lett bitter, litt usikker på om det kan kalles IPA, men godt øl. Flaske kjøpt på VP Jekta
3.7 Bottle. Clear deep golden body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange peel and flower petals. Flavour of Turkish delight and orange. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. It’s a decent beer that reminds me of Sierra Nevada’s pale ale.
3.5 Ber, clear with a huge off white head. A fruity aroma with some grass and floral sense. Nice bitterness with a dry floral and fruit end. Like!
3.6 Deep golden pour with a thick white head. Softly floral and spicy aroma. Some orange marmalade, woody bitterness, a bit of grassiness and a soft sweet malt profile. Crackery and a little bit of moreish quality. Pretty delicious actually.
3.2 50 cl bottle, BB Oct 31st 2022. Clear, amber colour, lively carbonation, medium off-white head. Aroma is fruity, earthy and hoppy. Medium, slightly creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation, dry finish. Malty backbone, sweet caramel flavour, not overly bitter (as you would expect from an Extra Special Bitter...), a bit unbalanced. To label this as an IPA is a joke...
3.0 # 2816; 3/2022. Aroma of tropical fruits, earthy, herbal. Clear gold body, persistant thin head. Tropical fruits, grassy, peach, slighrly earthy. Good english IPA. 0,5 l, bottle, supermarket, North Hykeham (Lincolnshier, England).
3.3 Butelka data ważności 31 Dec 22 Aromat: cytrusy, żywica, trochę ziołowe, może nawet lekko trawiaste, podbudowa biszkoptowa, może pojawia się leki karmel, odrobinę owoce tropikalne Wygląd: złote klarowne, piana biała, średnio trwała, możliwy bardzo lekki diacetyl. Smak: raczej wytrawne, goryczka wyraźna, średnio intensywny, jednak długa i zalegająca Odczucie w ustach: lekko ściągające, pełnia na średnim poziomie, wysycenie srednie do wysokiego. Ogólnie: pierwszy węch obiecywał klasyczna IPA, jednak później pojawiło się kilka mankamentów, obniżające ocenę.
3.4 50cl Bottle @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, Spain. Amber colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is malt, hops, citrus, fruits, slightly herbal. Taste is malt, hops, citrus, grapefruit, peach, herbs. Medium body, average carbonation.

3.3 How: bottle from pint. A bit chilled. BB: 30 SEP 22 Head: two fingers, white. Colour: deep golden. Aroma: citrus fruits, herbal notes. Taste: thin to medium body, average carbonation, citrus marmalade, citrus fruits, malts, more on bitter side. Medium long aftertaste like initial taste.
3.3 Rocky white head stayed on clear pale amber coloured body. Spiced fruit, malt & bitter aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & sharp on the back. Bitter, hoppy, caramel & malt tastes with a tangy finish. Great EIPA.
3.5 clear orange to amber colour, medium sized ecru head; aroma and taste of resiny, grape seeds and peel, orange zesty, biscuity, slight floral honey and celery-spicy notes; not bad at all
3.1 Bottle picked up from Dutties, Streatham high road and drunk at home (03/12/2021) - clear gold with a white head. Medium sweet malty and vague citrus fruity, grassy twiggy hops, cereal, grain, biscuity malts, light body, subdued hoppy finish. Pretty basic affair.
4.1 Clear amber, white head and lacing. Aroma of varnish, sherry, oak. Taste of apricot, pine and recin. With bg at vb
4.6 Very sweet and soft feel. Fucking nice.
3.1 Bière achetée chez Leclerc Fives, nez légèrement porté sur les agrumes, bonne amertume en bouche, très légèrement acqueuse mais ça passe quand même, pas si mal.
3.5 bottle @ british store (budapest) golden colour, normal body, average carbonation, white head, bittersweet, flowery, fruity, citrus, hoppy, fresh, easy to drink, smooth dry
4.2 I really like this beer, especially on tap when it is available. Great taste, full of flavour and something you could happily drink all night.
3.1 50 cl bottle (BBD 2021-04-30), bought from Kopernik Polish Supermarket Hanger Lane, drunk at home 2021-05-07. Appearance is a clear pale amber with a decent thickness dense yellowed white head that dissipates reasonably slowly and lots of visible carbonation. Yeah, that looks pretty nice. Aroma is okay. Some white bread, nice amount of citrus - lemon and orange. Hint of something tropical - pineapple almost? Touch of grassiness too. Nice enough, if a bit faint and perhaps a touch bland. Taste is very similar. Again, heavy on the malt, though it's more brown bread this time. Some light sweet citrus comes through a bit at the front - orange again I think - and there's a touch of honey sweetness, before a pretty mellow pithy bitterness at the end. Far from unpleasant, but will blow no one away. Palate's okay. Medium-light, quite clean and juicy throughout with a small amount of in-mouth carbonation coming out towards the medium length finish. Overall, this is fine. I debate calling it an IPA as I wouldn't call it heavily hopped whatsoever, but it's pleasant enough and quite summery. Needs more oomph on the nose and in the mouth, and could benefit from a slightly fuller body to justify the ABV. Wouldn't buy again with more choice, wouldn't turn it down either.
4.2 0,5l bottle. A clear copper beer with dark orange glints. Creamy white head. Strong aroma with notes of orange, mandarin, sweet citrus, peach and fruity hops. Slightly bitter floral flavour with notes of fruity hops, grapefruit and honey. Bitter and dry aftertaste.
