Wye Valley HPA

Wye Valley HPA

Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned. AKA Hereford Pale Ale.
HPA is a truly delightful pale ale. It’s smooth on the palate, and boasts a citrus hop aroma leading to a balanced bitter finish.

Locally grown Target and Styrian Goldings hops play an important part in making this such a distinctive beer. With Maris Otter pale malt and malted wheat also being used, this is very much a pale ale with all the right ingredients.

3.5 Bottle from Dragnet101, as part of euroswap 3/2020, many thanks. Pale golden color with thick white head. Aroma of oranges, floral notes. Taste, light malty body with moderate fruity hoppy bitterness, light zest. Medium long fruity hoppy taste. Good.
2.7 50cl flaska. Gul öl med ett vitt skum. Doft och smak är blommig med lättare malttoner, citrustoner och säd.
3.4 Bottle from Ludlow Food Centre. Appearance - pale yellow, off-white head. Nose - floral. gorse, custard. Taste - citrus and caramel. Palate - light bodied, a little sweet in the middle, but decent fresh finish. Overall - a solid citizen.
3.4 Nice, easy drinking pale ale, pours a deep straw with a frothy white head, and an aroma of lightly roasted biscuit malt and a hint of citrus. The mouthfeel is pretty smooth with a hint of graininess, and the flavour matches the aroma, perhaps with a little more grapefruit character to the fore, finishing with a nice balance of bitterness and sweetish malt, and all in a decent, zesty refreshing pale bitter.
3.4 Bottle BBE in 11 months. Pale straw appearance and a little cloudy with slight white head. Aroma of flora, citrus, light malts. Moderate carbonation and light body. Flavour of grains, citrus, quite sweet but not overdone. A very understated ale but has enough about it that I enjoyed it more and more as I finished the bottle. A wise move to have a lowish 4% ABV, this would make an excellent session ale as its very drinkable assuming it is similarly good on cask.
3.0 It's alright.
2.9 Backlog rating Cask and far from being impressed. There are way too many good ales to choose instead of the one.
3.0 Cask at Plaister’s Arms, Winchcombe. Very light in colour with low carbonation. Slightly thin and bitter, but good roundness.
3.7 Cask at the Baiting House, Upper Sapey. Hazy yellow, white head. Malty, bit fruity, peaches, sweetish, light bitterness. Soft texture. Medium bodied.
3.2 Poured golden body with white lace top. Light aroma of pale malts and grassy hop. Taste is medium sweet to lightly bitter with a citrus finish. Palate is medium bodied oily texture average carbonation and a bitter finish but with a light fruit twist. Still looking for a standout Herefordshire beer.
3.3 Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton Pours a lemon yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Not much in the way of aroma, lust some hints of lemon and grass cuttings. A decent amount of citrus in the mouth, including lemon and grapefruit. Some floral hoppiness, but generally rather wtaery. Some honey and hops in the finish. Not the sort of beer I normally go for, but I rather like it. Definitely swiggable.
2.9 Bottle from ASDA. Pale golden, wispy head. Musty, grainy aroma. Taste is also grainy, corny, oily.

3.1 A light beer, refreshing and very drinkable but can feel a little thin in comparison with other beers.
3.5 Strange but appealing taste for a pale ale. Golden with small head. Tangy yet bittersweet taste...almost honeyesque
3.3 Very clear pale gold, straw colour, white head. Aroma gentle citrus and malt. Taste slightly sweet, bit of grapefruit. Like a summer’s afternoon in the Herefordshire country.
3.2 Spritz cloudy light yellow. Thin head. Lemon .... coriander ? on nose. Really dizzy in mouth. Light and drying in mouth. Bottled from Asda. Leave mouth clean. Need to try in summer. Refreshing like sherbet lemonade. Spritzy. Yup fuzzy grapefruit juice in there

3.3 Cask pint @ Stanton Arms after a TMBB ride with one of the best scotch eggs ive ever had. Moderately sweet cask blonde. Slight up-rate. May 28th 2018: Cask @ Royal Oak, Shrewsbury. One of those beers ive saved for when theres no other new beers or ciders on and im faced with the glare of the barman and a silent pub. Today is the day. Pours a generally clear gold, white head. Aroma of light citrus, pale malt. Taste is clean, clear pale malt with a light sweetness. Drying close. Satisfyingly simple.
3.2 Tap @Kings Head, Victoria St. Bristol Small white head, golden colour, clear. Light aroma of citrus, lightly bitter, light body, smooth, flat. Light & refreshing, but no excitement.
3.3 Butelka 500ml. Jasnozloty kolor. Piana biała, mała,szybko redukuje się do pierścienia. W aromacie cytrusy, trawa, ciastka, trochę chmielu. Smak idzie za zapachem...cytrusy,trawa, lekko chmielowa goryczka.bardzo pijalne
3.4 Cytrusowo trawiasty aromat, barwa słomkowa, piana znika zaraz po nalaniu do szklanki. W smaku cytryna, nieco rodzynek, słodu, szampana. Posmak gorzkawy, z cytrusowym podkładem.
3.3 Real Ale in a Holiday Inn (Bromsgrove). This one is as bright as a summers Day colour of a lager, not too hoppy but could drink it all day.
3.2 Pint on cask at the Three Horseshoes, Little Cowarne, Herefordshire (2017-10-04). A very traditional English beer - nothing too pronounced in flavour or aroma, but a deeply satisfying session beer. Delicious after a hard day making cider!
3.9 a favourite of mine that i haven't tried for a while. crisp yet smooth, lemon citrus aftertaste. served ice cold in a bottle, drank this way, although have had many times in the past on draught. fantastic beer if you ever get the chance to try it.
