The most approachable of our ales, Brawler is malt forward and delicately hopped for a knockout flavor. Its smooth character, hints of caramel and toast, and remarkable drinkability define this ruby colored brew as a true session ale. Perfect for when you want to go a few rounds.

With A watching Lady & the Tramp.
Deep translucent brown with a thick foamy head. Yards kills it in the graphic design dept as always!
Nose is dark and roasty. Could easily be mistaken for a porter based on smell.
Taste follows tons of maltiness. Dark roasty caramel malt, bready & chocolate. Somewhat light tasting but still retains that porter-like character. Relatively sweet. Almost no bitterness. Smooth & delicious malt-bomb.
Medium-light palate. A bit heavy with lighter carbonation - easy-drinking but not particularly crisp.
Overall, a solid tasty beer. Tons of flavor for such an approachable, low-abv beer!!
2.8Pours dark caramel with a small white yop. Aroma is caramel toffee and a touch of wood. Taste again toffee sweetness and wood earthy flavours.
2.9Bottle at the Tom X Pub in the Poconos with the wife. A lite malty mild ale. Notes of toffee and caramel, but a crisp dry finish.
2.812 ounce bottle in tulip glass
A: dark brown clear with minimal to no head
A: caramel, Woody malt, almonds
T: med sweet, no sour, light bitter
P: medium body, light carb, thin texture but has some bite as if it was heavily carbonated, filling
O: easy drinking brown ale
3.6Has a nice malty flavor with medium hop level. It's a good session beer. Nice dark amber ruby color. It's been a growing on me ever since I first had it at the Philly folk festival couple years ago.
3.7On tap in PHL, nice fresh English style ale that may be mild on the palate but not mild in flavor! Pours a red-accented amber hue with plenty of lacing and thin but steady white foam. Aroma is candied sugar and rich caramel, with some subtle fruity hop notes. Taste is a clean caramel maltiness with earthy English hops in the background. More toasty and caramelly malt complexity as the pint warms, actually has an intriguing whiff of smoked malt to it. Finishes with just a refreshing taste of mild fruit and caramel, well done!
3.4Amber, clear, malt forward and plenty of nice malt-driven notes like caramel, and bread, but some unexpected niceties like some winter spiciness perhaps from the yeast. Clean balanced and very enjoyable.
3.5Bottle. It poured an amber color with a quickly dissipating white head. He aroma is toasted malt with caramel notes. The taste is slightly sweet and light bodied.
3.1beautiful clear red color; toasted malt aroma with light caramel notes; bready, toasted malt flavor; fair amount of bitterness; light bodied
3.0A malt and caramel nose, poured from a bottle a clear copper color with a lasting tan well laced head. Not much of a taste, just a hint of malt and caramel. A watery mouth feel with a light malt finish.
2.9Muddy amber color, thin head. No lacing. Aroma and flavor both malt forward. Flavor is timid. Body is very thin and smooth. Very easy drinking but not an overly exciting or interesting beer.
3.1Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2010, Parsons Green, London in July 2010 - Ruby/Dark Brown in colour. Malty; mildly roasty malts, caramel. Sweet malty throughout. OK. Easy drinking. Sessionable. (2010-07)
3.5Backlog, Draft at Sugar House, seems like they have the freshest yards outside of the brewery which is a stones throw away. Pours amber with a medium tan head. Smell and taste are caramel bread, fruit, spice, and other malty stuff. Light carbonation on a medium body. Solid
3.6Bottle, unsure of date, from Chameleon Club on 8/27/16.
Clear amber body is topped by a light beige head of moderate retention.
Soft, light toffee-tinged malts in the nose are joined by leafy, somewhat grassy hops adding spice and mild acidity. Lots of depth to the malt with emerging honey, biscuit and light caramel. Quite clean, not overly sweet and no alcohol.
In the flavor, it has a malty texture providing caramel, light toffee and honey-vanilla notes, with mildly fruity yeast notes and spicy-grassy hops adding modest bitterness and balance. Very nicely balanced, with a graininess that helps keep things dry and crisp on the finish. Clean. No diacetyl whatsoever in this bottle.
3.1Poured from 12 oz. bottle.
Clear, rusty amber-brown with a small dusty-yellow head and good lacing.
Aroma of toffee, cola and brown sugar.
Taste of toasted malt, caramel, brown sugar and off-brand cola.
Medium body and low/medium carbonation.
Sweet and malt. Nothing fancy, but not bad.
2.9Tap at Black Horse Tav in Conshy area w PJ after his game. Chill. Pours dark brown w low head.. woody veggie nose and loose skim milky mouthfeel holding a light nutty and leafy palate. Kinda brown. Easy and thin but not robust. Could drink a ton but not great.
3.1Not bad, caramel notes are faint under the the malt and hops however like the advertisements say this is an ale that you can go a few rounds with.
3.5Draught at Molly Malloy’s, Philly, on May 2, 2016.
Clear deep copper to brown color, dense tan head. Fruity, grainy, light floral hoppy taste. Light roasted, toasted, grainy aftertaste. Medium to fizzy mouthfeel, medium to medium low bitterness. Malty, light roasted scent.

3.0Pours a clear medium brown with a medium head of tan foam. Fairly thin but smooth with a light taste. Not bad but not great.
1.9Pours a dark brown aroma is a light coffee smell flavors are weak not much to taste maybe slight cocoa and caramel.
3.0On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy amber with small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is toasted malt and grain. Medium mouth, light caramel, cocoa, lingering dry finish, good.
2.9Deep amber. Little head. From a bottle. Malty, not much else going on. Caramel nose.
3.2drank from a pint glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle, thank you Dana. A good brew.
3.4On draft at Giant Center in Hershey, PA. Pours a deep amber with a white head. Caramel and brown sugar on the nose. Medium-light mouthfeel goes down easy. Flavors of toffee, caramel and grain with a slightly bitter finish. Great session beer.
2.7DATE TASTED: January 1, 2016... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... OCCASION: Happy New Year bowl watching after visiting Mom and Dad... APPEARANCE: dark, cola-brown with effervescence (if sought out through the shady body... head is off-white, spongy, and riddled with bubbly crags and smears... the head retains well... AROMA: malt-forward indeed, with caramel, toffee, and toasty breads... some yeasty funkiness gives an earthy, grainy suggestion... hops are light, weak, and only slightly citric... PALATE: lightly textured, easily drinkable... thin and flat, with a weak finish...again, accomplishes its goal... TASTE: malty, nutty and toasted enough to provide some nuance... the predominant flavor, however, is an underdeveloped caramel that is candied (or canned)... the hops offer some lemon grass and orange, but faintly and without allure... overall, a flat flavor... OVERALL: a Yards fan coming in, this "approachable" beer doesn’t hit the mark, and I find the pugilism is more directed towards the drinker rather than the demon on the label--unless that demon be a more confidently malted beer...
3.3Definitely a beer to sip and not to drink in gulps. I love Yards. It has a very dry profile and you can taste how hoppy it is right away, but it isn’t off-putting.
3.4The aroma is caramel, brown sugar. The appearance is deep red, white head. The flavor is caramel, toasted malt, sweet. The finish is spicy, sweet. Thin in body. Nice for the style.
4.5Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the "Blue & Grey" Pub in Gettysburg, PA. This beer is a slightly murky orangish color with a small white head. The aroma is big on malt with some caramel and spices following. The flavor is full of malt with some spices and yeasty bread. This beer is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A surprisingly real treat, very enjoyable.
3.2On tap in Harrisburg, golden yellow, with some white foam, creamy nose and flavor , light malt flavors , nice quaffer
