4.3It's baaack! Pours a clear deep bronze color with an off white head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Clean and smooth mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Medium body. No bitterness. Straightforward caramel lager flavor. Tasty and repeatable.
2.9Amber color, with a big head with nice lacing. Found it to have a more sour aroma than other Oktoberfest, but a good one overall.
3.65 September 2021, bottle:. Copper color with a steady stream of carbonation bubbles that maintains a thin off-white head. Malty aroma with a caramel note. The taste follows the nose with added biscuit dimension. Rating 3.6
15 October 2015: Clear copper color with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Malty aroma with toast and caramel notes. It is somewhat thin. Rating 3.3.
2.5Bottle at trailer tasting. Bright amber color with white foam. Toasted caramel, herbal aromas. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Same toasted caramel, herbs in the flavor___ decent
2.212oz bottle. Pours amber with a small beige head. Aroma is grain and caramel. Taste is burnt caramel and some yeast. Light body. Medium carbonation. Watery mouthfeel.
3.0Aroma of malt and light autumn spice. Clear deep amber-brown color, beige head that stays at 1", bands of lace. Taste is caramel malt and very light pumpkin spices, light carbonation, and light hops in a long finish. Drinkable, falls wihin the range of all Yuengling brews.
2.8Aroma is malts/corn and Yuengling house yeast. The flavor is corn/malts, mild fruit and a slightly earthy/beery finish.
3.1A pretty good Oktoberfest. Good and malty. A little weak as far as the aroma goes.
2.912oz twist-off bottle pours a clear orange/brown color with moderate but lasting off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is mostly caramel malts with some floral hops. Taste starts out slightly sweet but ends up slightly bitter. Body is light with a soapy mouthfeel. Not bad for a macro-brew, and one of the cheapest in this style.
3.1Pretty good for a marzen. Well balanced, with good caramel content. Appearance is a light to medium brown. Not much aroma. About average and on par with the other ones....Sammy, Becks, etc. Price is good, so I could be getting this a couple times each season.
2.9Draft. Amber with orange highlights. Frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toasted grain, biscuit, brown sugar, earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Bread and caramel taste similar to Yeungling lager. Bland. Slightly grainy.
2.812 oz bottle in Atlanta.
Pours with a clear light copper colored body topped by a very good beige head. It also smells OK, with a mix of spicy hops and sweet malts. The flavor, however, is quite disappointing, even for a cheap macro-brew.
0.6Poor beer. Do Not purchase. There must be an issue with Yuengling selling this product which tastes like metal. I poured it into a pilsner glass and immediately noticed the awkward smell the taste was not any better. There is little foam. Color is Amber.
The next day I tried another. The same; distinctly metal! I spoke with the store, and they said they do not have any complaints. Yuengling of Tampa, Fl ran a test from the product code, and did not find any issues. There are various excuses, but the fact is that this product which was made in the Florida location is not drinkable. It is unlike Oktoberfest of any other brand, certainly because it has an issue. I enjoy Yuengling traditional; but this Octoberfest is poor, and should never be purchased!
2.1355ml embosed twist off bottle. Orange pour, fizzy head. Aroma is malt juice, flavor is malt juice, sour, soda fizzy carbonation.
2.5Draft to Mason jar at Longhorn bar Round head pour clear copper with thin off white head. Nose caramel, green apple, crystal malt. Taste what you expect for macrolager. Less grainy than regular version Yuengling
3.5Pours a copper orange color. Clear. Two fingers crossed white head. Okay retention, okay lacing.
Aroma is caramel malt, and that's about it. Maybe a touch of butter.
Taste is caramel malt. Not overly sweet. Touch of bitterness at the finish. Light bread crust.
Mouthfeel is light bodied. Crisp, dry. Sessionable.
Overall, it's pretty good. Enjoyable. As good as an Oktoberfest as you will get from a macro brew. I would recommend it, but probably wouldn't buy it again.
2.6Pours clear, dark amber with a two finger, light tan head. Aroma is Munich hops and acetate. Taste is light caramel, moving to light roast. Finish is uneven roast. A subpar marzen.
3.5Served from 12 oz bottle into tulip glass. A 2" fluffy off white head drops slowly with some mild lacing. Color is mostly clear amber and abundant streaming carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts and floral hops. Mouthfeel is medium with a dry finish. Flavor of dark toast, figs, a bit of caramel with earthy and floral hops. Overall: not bad, but not the best out there.
3.0(12oz bottle) AROMA: medium malt, herb/spice, biscuit and wet paper APPEARANCE: brownish amber, good amount of light beige head, good clinginess, clean and a tad hazy TASTE: grain, bread, raostiness, light pilsner malt, some cream, easy bitterness, fall leaves PALATE: solid llight body, smooth, soft, creamy, shortllived folllowthru OVERALL: very drinkable marzen lager, more fllavorful than a palle lager, easy on the palate, nice balance, could drink a few of these
3.3Pours a nice dark amber (brown) with a rich dash of garnet. Normal head volume, outstanding retention and normal lacing.
The nose is of average quality for the style. Light caramel and a bit of bready malt provide a slightly sweet effect. Aromatic intensity is weak with no hop presence.
Light bodied with a mouthfeel similar to water. The carbonation / body balance is outstanding. Rich effervescence is provided from the middle on. The finish is finely bubbled a tickles the tongue.
The flavor profile is borderline very good. It isn't complex nor is it intense. It is extremely well balanced, world class actually. The problem is lack of contrast and complexity. What little hop flavor and bitterness that is present, is in deep background. Consequently, you get a muddied bit of caramel (no sweetness) that comes across as being slightly burnt - yet tasty. Towards the finish, the undercurrent of hops present with no significant bitterness and an earthy herbal noble hop flavor. The finish is a slow fade of weak noble hops.
3.7For the price, it’s a great beer. It hits all of the points the way it should, and coincidentally is where it also fails - it’s ordinary. If they upped their game, a little more, it would be extraordinary.
4.1very good octoberfest. lots of malt, and a good taste. wonderful
10/21 update - very good Octoberfest because it is brewed as an Octoberfest should be brewed. They dont add 15 different flowers, hops, nuts, hops, spices, hops and more hops like all the worthless USA craftie morons do. This is a good, tasty, BEER.
9/2020 - update - a very nice, non-hop overloaded USA beer. It tastes great. One thing I noticed this year is that it had a sharp taste. Not as smooth. A little too much of a sharp edge for an Octoberfest. Not bad, but not good, either. No need for "extra" hops, especially in an OCTOBERFEST (which BY DEFINITION is about malt). Downgraded 2 points for this needless odd taste in a simple Octoberfest.
9/2019 update - a smooth Octoberfest with all the EXPECTED malt and NONE of the USA craftie hops overload. Good!!! There is a distinct aftertaste. I would not call it "bitter", but that is the best way I can think to describe it. But, a good beer, for sure.
3.5Light and refreshing, pretty good.
2.2So so. Not their best. Not as good as their IPL ...........................
2.5Poor excuse for a beer.
Sorry these notes were just for myself now I'm forced to publish them and need more characters to do so, hence this sentence
3.6I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours amber with a fluffy, off-white head and lacing. The aroma is caramel and hay. The taste is caramel, hay, grain, and toast. It's smooth up front with some nice carbonation on the back end. This is a solid version of the style.
3.7Poured into a dimpled mug, copper color with off white head, minimal lacing.
Smell of toast, caramel, grass notes.
Taste of caramel, bread, with a slight touch of hops at the back end.
Very smooth mouth feel with slight corn aftertaste.
I drank quite a few 6 packs of this last year but didn't rate it.
Not as good as Sam Adams Oktoberfest, but for 2 dollars less a 6 packs after 2 its just as good.
Strongly recommend while its in season.
4.4Yuengling Oktoberfest has a thick, beige head, a mostly clear, copper appearance, with lots of fine, white suspended sediment, and some glass lacing. Aroma is muted, but one can pick up some glutinous brown bread notes, and flavor is of sweet, slightly bitter, brown bread crust. Mouthfeel is medium, and Yuengling Oktoberfest finishes crisp, clean, and refreshing. RJT
3.0Pours clear red-amber with a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, maybe a touch of nuttiness. Body is a bit lighter than medium, and a touch watery. Brief finish, light dryness. Caramel and nutty malt flavors with a touch of citrus hops that lingers at the back.
3.2bottle. Poured clear orangeamber-amber with a creamy beige head. Bready malt aroma. Medium-light body, actively carbonated, creamy texture, slight acidic finish. Flavour of caramel malt, a bit grainy and tart with cinnamon spice.
