1.5 500ml bottle - thanks Marduk! Watery sweet stinky lager aroma. Pale, brief head. Sweetish pale malts. Watery palate, a bit fizzy. Thin acrid bitter hop extract bitterness. Very nasty lager.
2.5 Pours golden with small head. Aroma is bread, malts, some grass, cereals. Taste is quite same, some hops reveals in after. Medium.
2.4 50cl bottle. Pours dull straw goldenlike. Thin head, ok lacing. Taste is a bit metallic and sweet. Stale bread aftertaste. Everything that goes with the style of Světlý. Not my type of beer, but is overal a drinkable session lager.
2.8 Pours a clear golden color, topped with a small white head, no real retention. Very gentle bready aroma with some grassy hops present. Taste is mildly sweet, quite bready with mild bitterness in the finish. Short lived aftertaste, bready bittery feel. Very light and superbly fresh feel. Very fine and drinkable.
2.8 Bottle. Pours golden with small white label. Aroma is malty, yeasty, sweetish, old bad hay. Taste is bitter, slight sweetness, grassy, hay, wet paper, Thin + body. Bitter finish.Drinkable.
3.2 Pours a slightly hazy gold with a white head. It has a light aroma of earthy hops and biscuit. The flavor is similar, with a dry finish over a light body.
2.3 330ml bottle into tumbler glass. Grainy malt nose. Amber beer, a few bubbles, thin head. Watery, grainy taste. Finish is smoky and grainy. Ordinary and forgettable.
3.2 Bottle from Base Camp. Hoppy nose, grass, herbs, biscuit malt. Medium gold. Crisp, brady, low hops, bit of orange and melon. Medium carbo. Ok. Maybe not so fresh. Decent, though.
3.5 Pint in Smith’s of Smithfield, London (£4.95): A shaky start with a poor look & weak nose but things soon picked up. Sweeter than expected but there was a good balance & it was easy to drink; a pretty nice beer but it could easily have been so much better.
3.1 Gold pour, quick head. Nose is light malt and hops. Bitter. Middle shows a solid malt backbone, floral hints. Finish is dry and fairly bitter. Not ground breaking, but solid.
1.4 kind of malty and kind of sweet but somehow lacking hoppy taste. Not that great.
3.3 Poured from a 16 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a nice malt aroma with some floral and hop background. Appearance- Beer is a golden amber color with a long lasting white head. Taste- Has a pleasant bitter malt flavor. Palate- A medium bodied brew with medium carbonation and a dry finish Overall- Nota bad beer but I have had better Czech beers
3.4 Big-bubblish diminishing white head on a bright straw golden body. Sparkling. Aroma; grass, caramel malts, hops, bread, marzipan, wort. Taste; caramel malts, hops, grass, fresh fruit peel of red apple, Well or too well carbonated, normal body, very easy-going. Fresh hops in the finish, with some grains and malts. Nice brew. [33cl brown btl, 4.6%abv, BB20.12.14]
3.7 Pours to a patchy but lasting head that laces generously. Dark golden color. Aroma is fresh sweet malts and honeylike floral and spicy hops: 100% Zatec (Saaz) according to label. Flavor comes in with a blend of sweet, clean malt and a spicy, tangy and crisp bitterness. Mouthfeel is light yet substantial. Overall, a very good Bohemian Pilsner.
3.0 Clear golden color , nice white head. Grassy , floral aroma with hint of malt. Taste grassy , moderate malty sweetness and bitter finish. Light body , high carbonation. Easy to drink and refreshing.
3.6 The body has a bright golden color with some visible carbonation and very good clarity. The head is thin and foamy with an "egg shell white" color. It leaves only a little spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is full of floral Czech hops with some light white bread malt. There is a clay like earthy quality with some very light metallic notes mixing with hops on the tongue. The hops are floral, grassy and a little bit leafy. They add a mild, pleasant bitterness to the flavor. Its body is light with a zesty texture and carbonation that tickles the tongue. The finish is quick, crisp and end on a mildly bitter note.
2.5 Clear copper beer with a foamy white head. Sweet malty aroma. Watery body. Crispy carbonation. Malty, toffee sweet, some honey notes. Pretty bulky lager. Still OK and nice to drink.
2.8 Review according to BJCP2008 guidelines (style 2B). Bottle 33cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: malt background with faint herbal hop aroma. APPEARANCE: golden yellow color and very clear. thin head with medium-low retention. TASTE: malty sweet balanced with some bitterness that does not linger. very faint hop flavours. finishes a bit dry. no esters. PALATE: medium-light body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a sub-par czech pilsner. should have more hop character.
2.1 Pale yellow colour, small white head. Aroma of grass, hay, slightly citrus. Taste is light sweet, almost no bitterness. Light body, thin texture, average carbonation.
2.6 33cl bottle from el corte ingles, lisbon. Clear gold color with thin head. Body is smooth. Medium bitter taste. Aroma is light hop and balanced.
2.4 Bottled, 500mL. Nose is very sweet, sugary really, pale malt is bright but grainy, lemony and faint green hops, but I can’t say I expect anything but a rough ride. Pours golden with a rocky-sudsy white head. Taste is as expected: low bitterness, strong sugary sweetness, grainy, lightly metallic, raw all over. Reasonable balance of malt and hops but the decision probably lands in the corner of the former. Light diacetyl in with some toffee. Mild lemon and grass. Light body somewhat refreshing, not enough to overcome the traditional central European rough lager character (by no means exclusive to Bohemia).
3.7 Review from notes on 06/1/10 Poured from bottle to perfect pint. A: Straw, amazing clarity. Steady stream of lager bubble. No head. Granular yeast suspension noted in bottle. S: Petite nose. Early hop additions give this a simple, grassy, bitter scent. Touch of grain. T: Effervescent malt, slightly vanilla flavor. Good, easy finish. Great dinner beer. M: Light, smooth lager. Easy carb, not offensive at all. D: Best Czech lager I’ve had so far. Very drinkable. I would argue a win-win for anybody who enjoys lagers, and especially for a domestic macro drinker. Serving type: bottle 12-22-2010
2.5 Bottle 330ml (Prisma, Mikkola) Clear golden color, small white head. Light buttery nose. Light-bodied. Honeyish sweetness, some earthy notes, hops, light buttery notes. Bad way unclean.
2.6 Bottled (Prisma, Vaasa). Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is grainy, grassy, bready malty along with some herbal notes. Flavour is herbal, grassy, bready and a bit slight toffeeish notes. Refreshing, but a bit mouldy/earthcellary, otherwise fresh and nice.
3.0 .5l bottle in Seattle. Pale darker yellow, small foam head. Crisp, souring beer that is a pretty good Czech style lager. A bit eggy, body has a dry crisp hopping. Dry sparkling water. Clean, nice.
4.0 I had this at Global Brew. Pours clear gold with a white head. Taste sweet, grassy, crisp. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.1 330 ml bottle. BB 30/06/14. (Prisma) Tampere, Finland. Clear pale golden colour with a small white head. Grassy and herbal hops, some bitterness and dry maltiness in the aroma. The flavour is quite strong hoppy bitter with grass, some herbal notes and some dry grainy malt. Hoppy Pilsner.
2.9 This is ok. a bit light, but typical chech. golden colour white head. just as it says on the label it has some toffee.
2.9 33cl bottle. Deep amber, thin white head. Diacetyl in aroma, with grassy and malty notes. Flavor has grassy hops, sweetness, butter. Grassy bitter finish. Heavy and chewy to drink, but otherwise quite clean and not too sweet either.
3.3 Clear, bright golden with thin white head that is short, bit sparkling.Mild aroma has grass and grain. Tasty is nicely malty, bit bread and nuts, butter, nice. Palate is soft and round, semisweet, nice carbonation, malty finish. Ok lager, nice malting.
