4.2Off beat beer from the wonderful 3 Fonteinen. Gueuze this certainly is not. It's not even a sour. Did they really brew this? However, still a cracking beer with a slight hint of lambicland in the background. Rarely a beer surprises me these days. This one did in a nice way. NB 0% Brett....as it obviously should be. No such thing as a Flanders Brown and a million miles away from a Flanders Red. Some odd reviews here. A bit like the beer!
3.9Draught from sovereign. Dark pour with choc malts, raspberries blueberries and cherries. Pretty good
3.5Botella @Lambicus, Barcelona 17/03/19
Color negro opaco corona de espuma beige escasa, aromas tostados sabor tostado notas acidas y cafe, cuerpo medio.
3.7Keg at Cask, Pimlico. Near black, with a tan head. Complex aroma of dark chocolate and sour cherry. A bit of biting sourness, along with dark sugar and cake notes.
3.8Bottle from Hops & Bottles. Poured into a teku, dark brown, silky beige head. Yeast leads the aroma, sour notes. Taste is not as dominated by the yeast, allowing the roast malts to be noticed, adding a touch of bitterness. Gentle sour notes on top of a nice robust porter.
3.5On tap at Fakin, Zagreb. Black with beige head. Roasty, some chocolate, moderate sourness, some grapes notes?, quite smooth. Medium bodied.
3.6Flaska från BiaB. Mörk brunsvart med hög ljusbeige krona. Torra och rostade toner med inslag av kola, toffee, lite bränt gummi och en lätt körsbärston. Kola och kaffe i avslutning. Fin!
4.033cl bottle. A very dark brown beer with a huge most good lasting tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, dried fruits, raisins, caramel, dark malt, mild roasted malt. taste of dark moderate roasted malt, coffee, caramel, raisins, mild dried fruits, medium carbonation. Well done!
3.6Bottle from Willems. Poors black with small, quickly fading chocolate head. Aroma a somewhat weird geuze-tartness, some grainy coffe slowly takes over, followed by warm, creamy chocolate, not too sweet at all, very good. Taste more dominated by an apple -sourness, only a little coffee and even less chocolaty, for me the sourness is a bit too sharp and overpowering, maybe a little thin too, pleasant, grainy coffee aftertaste though. Decent Creamyness, very soft carbonation.
3.3On tap at Fakin Zagreb. Almost black coloured, small to medium sized beige head, mild vinous coffee nose. Toasted malt, burnt toffee, notes of dark fruits and touch of coffee with some yeast and alcohol in the finish. Just ordinary...expected (much) better one.
3.4On tap at Fakin Craft Bar, Zagreb. Shared with Višnja 666. Black, small lasting beige head. Fruity aroma, dark cherry, toasty and roasty malts, metallic, some grainy malty moments. Creamy texture. Metallic flavour covers tart fruity and roasty notes. Light body, dry, drinkable, finish a bit harsh. Strong, some alcohol presence.
3.4Dark brown to black colored, medium frothy beige head. Aroma is malty, roasted malt, coffee, bit woody, some Belgian yeast, light brett notes, some dark fruit. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, roasted and some coffee notes, bit dark fruit, light brett, light tartness, medium roasty bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily.
3.5Tap at Fakin. Blackish dark brown, tan head. Creamy aroma, nice, raisins, sweetish, nice maltiness, without much else. Lean body, subdued maltiness, light raisin, soft, ends dry, kinda bitterish, strange subdued touches coming from the yeast, but it's quite restrained. A touch of malt, a touch of tartness and that's it. Expected so much more.
3.5A colablack beer, a head is big and beige. Aroma has liquorice, sourness, cherry and frutiness. Taste has sourness, cherry, roastiness. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Weird mix of sourness, cherry and dark notes.
3.820-09-18 // bottle shared, bought at ABS Drinks Leuven. Black with a beige head. First some light fruitness, cherry. Then a dry roasted coffee and dark chocolate note with brett touches. Nice one!
3.5OK Belgian porter. Only a kiss of tartness, nicely different than the usual North American porters, and aged (which left a good amount of sediment). Good drinker.
3.8Bottle. Malty aroma, belgian yeast, light wine notes, chocolate, light roasty notes, dried plums notes. Tastes the same as aroma, light to medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Full body, malty sour and sweet finish with fruity notes. Good.
3.8Draft in snifter in Tillamook. Dark brown with beige head. Earthy roasted grain aroma. Chocolate and tart fruit taste, malty sour finish.
3.8Aroma is lightly roasted malts with a quite hoppy presentation and cocoa influences. Taste is at first porter-ish as usual with the dark, roasted malts and chocolate hints. Pretty soon a tart, almost red wine like tartness, breaks through and gives this one a twist that enhances the experience. That is of course if you're into a more sour approach to your life. Excellent, stylish porter with a twist.
3.6330ml bottle @ home. Deep brown with s lasting creamy tan head. Dark fruit, yeast, cocoa, funky earth. Bright carbonation, medium body. Tart, drying finish. Unusual mix of styles, excellent.
3.3Average frothy light brown head. Good lacing. Mostly diminishing. Flat black body. Aroma: moderate malt, toasted, milk chocolate, citrus lime. Initial flavor: moderate sweet light bitter. Final flavor: light sweet bitter moderate acidic; long duration. Palate: light medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderate astringent finish. a confusão de estilos já começa no visual: looks like a stout. May also show some non-roasted malt character in support (caramelly, nutty, toffee-like and/or sweet). toasty malt flavor includes a mild to moderate roastiness and often a significant caramel, nutty, and/or toffee character. May have other secondary flavors such as coffee, licorice, biscuits or toast in support.
although small amounts may contribute a bitter chocolate complexity. Medium-low to medium hop bitterness will vary the balance from slightly malty to slightly bitter. Usually fairly well-attenuated, although can be somewhat sweet.
3.7Draft pour at Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a small bit of beige head that dissipates. Young, slightly tart plum aromas with smoke and cacao nib as it warms. Dry on the palate, with some mild funk and overripe fruit. Dry cacao that lingers. Very nice.
3.7Bottle. Dark brown colour, small to average tan head. Aroma of red fruits, cherries, chocolate. roast, some berries and hay. Taste is light sweet, light bitter, light to medium sour, cherries, chocolate, red fruits, berries, some hay. A bit tart fruity finish. Medium- body, average carbonation. Very interesting wild porter.
